In response to the opening post ITT, proposing a bet on the Oscars:

That might be a little too "arty" for our hero who is very highly principled about such matters.

Value is value.

I'd lower myself to beat on I'm a Celeb or CBB if the bet is good enough.

Pizzled will prob take the £48 if you want rid. Otherwise, I'll take it.

Norrrrr!

I was going to suggest I add another 42 with Boyles and take it to £150 Cheesy

Tikay doing maxes on BB, surely it would be a monumental day in Fred history?

Marky, please don't take this personally, as I mean no ill, but stfu, OK?

A dark day for Fred.

Can we trade it at some stage?

On Jun. 28, Tampa lost to Detroit, 6-3, to fall seven games behind the Red Sox in the AL East. Three weeks later, Tampa is now only half-a-game back.
In that 18-2 stretch, the Rays have shut out their opponents five times and allowed a single run three times. Only twice has an opposing team scored even as many as five runs—and Tampa won both those games.
Monday’s victory makes this the second six-game-or-longer win streak for Tampa in those 20 games. Unsurprisingly, given that they’ve lost only twice in the last month, the Rays haven’t dropped consecutive games since Jun. 26 and 28 against Detroit.
Matt Moore, on the hill for the series opener at Fenway Park, has now made four starts since the Rays went supernova: 4-0 in 29 2/3 innings with three earned runs. That’s a nice tidy ERA of 0.92. Oh, and he’s struck out 29 versus just six walks. Versus Boston, Moore was almost unhittable, allowing just a pair of singles and a walk as he breezed through the Red Sox in a 109-pitch, complete-game effort—his first ever complete-game shutout.

So what’s changed for the Rays from that late June nadir?

Wow.

We have a LOT of money riding on the Rays, thanks to redarmi, £280 I think.

£150 @ 100/30 AL Division East. (Now 2/1 best)

£40 @ 12/1 AL Winner (Now 8/1 best)

£40 @ 20/1 World Series Winner. (Now 16/1 best).

We also have a saver on the Red Sox to win AL East, £50 @ 4/1. (Now 11/8 best). We surely have the AL East sewn up between both bets?

Some proper sweats incoming there. Not sure what the timescales are though.

Think Singheeeee gave us the Kansas City Royals, £10 EW @ 80/1. Best price now 150/1. ;(

Any thoughts on the King George?

Cirrus looks a dodgy fav at the price to me. Doubts over ground for sure and possibly trip too.

Must be some ew value against it?

Timeform Weight-Adjusted Ratings for King George:

142: CIRRUS DES AIGLES
131: EKTIHAAM
130: UNIVERSAL, RED CADEAUX, NOVELLIST

129 bar

Is Ektihaam at 8-1 (2-1 the place) the call here?

I am informed that so far Watford have signed 9 players during their transfer embargo.

That's quite impressive.

I fancy Ektihaam, but a nasty slip at Ascot last time may have left its mark(do horses have memories?!)

Also, Universal is a front runner too, and I worry they may spoil each others chances.

Official ratings also have Red C ahead of joint third rated Ektihaam and Trading Leather

Sure you'll beat it on Betfair.

Anyone got any 9/2 spare on Dexter?  Boyles won't lay me anything on horses or specials now.  Wouldn't mind but the account is £600 down and only ever had 2 winning bets on it.  Must think I am a cover for Chompy.

I think I/we have £108.10 in total.

Not sure what the Elders finally agreed, but I think they felt £60 for Fred was correct. Marky kindly sold Fred the £60 bet.

Dearest Darling Chompy already said he'd take any spare, so if you & Chompy want to cut a deal, I'm happy to let the £48.10 go to Chompy &/or you.

Only fair we spread the pain around.
