BETTING EMPORIUM

As those who follow Betting Emporium via their website will now know, their NFL section has moved to a subscription model.

That's not a matter for discussion on this thread really, but if you have any views, you are encouraged to Post them on the Betting Emporium thread, which is here....

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=60211.0

Betting Emporium & Fred.

Joe had telephone discussions about this with both Tighty & myself earlier this week, mainly as to how it would affect FRED bets etc, & "spoilers" on Fred.

Advance "spoilers" are strongly discouraged, & will be Deleted if seen.

AS to FRED bets, we are not entirely sure yet, but it is possible that we will continue to back Neil's "Top Two" bets each week (time & memory permitting) to a £5 Unit Stake. The actual selections or bets would not be revealed until AFTER Kick Off in each respective game. The bets can be proofed by an independent arbitor or referee if necessary, one of the Elders ideally. I'm happy to give them access to my Accounts where needed to allow this.  (Mere, Camel, Doobs, Tighty etc). Joe Beevers was quite agreable to this method of doing Betting Emporium Bets if we so desire.

Whether we should do this or not is another matter. It sort of takes away the "Community Sweat" if nobody knows the bets in advance, as the regulars here tend to colectively follow certain Fred Bets & get on accordingly, so that would not work.

We shall need to invest in a considerable dither.

Meanwhile, that leaves more room for our regular & long-standing NFL chaps to put up recommendations.

No BE spoilers though, please.

For what its worth I think that continuing to bet BE's top two would be a bad idea.  We could follow any number of winning paid tipsters but that isn't really what Fred is about to my mind it is about and whilst paying for Neils tips is probably worthwhile for a lot of punters it doesn't really add to the discussion and education element that is what Fred is all about to my mind.  Also it could potentially make for slightly awkward bet discussions if, for example, someone recommends a bet that clashes or agrees with a bet Fred has already placed on the basis of Neils rec.  Do we just ignore it and pretend that rec hasn't been made?

Already put this on the NFL thread.. My fave bet of the week

Reggie Bush ( Detroit) quoted on Sky over 77.5 rushing yards... Bears run D pretty awful ranked 29th in the league avg allowed 127.5 ypg... anyone with a deese running game has gashed them for big numbers all season...5/8 games oppos lead RB has gone for 95 + inc Bush's 139 in this fixture in September...Lacy killed them for 150 on Monday and add to this 2 starting LB are out as well...Bears front seven allow runners through to the secondary a lot and the safeties miss tackles too.... Bears can't load the box as Stafford will shred them with Megatron in man to man...

77.5 looks a bargain even with Bell adding numbers whilst Reggie has a rest ..

Edit:  sky now 80.5... did blondes nfl people move ths ?? lol

victor still 78.5 @ 1.91

Im in for 8 points suggest the same

Probably only took £20.

I went to do a TD bet yesterday, and they offered me £12.50 on a 4/1 shot Cheesy

hmmmm don't think you should do this, mainly because you will actually just be running a free advert (which of course you can do if you want - it's your business, in every sense) but also it creates a bad precedent for a number of reasons.  Many knowledgeable people put up some great info on this thread for no reason other than to help others, not as a springboard to "go private" for payment.

Thanks Dean.

For NFL newbies like me, it's quite hard to understand all that "NFL speak" but it looks good, & several others on the NFL thread agreed, so we've invested £44 @ 10/11, OVER 78.5 Rushing Yard things.

Good luck.

Think I agree with redarmi. No problems with the BE results being posted ITT as a means of promoting the site. We do the same with Tighty and Scotty.

But if no one can get on and enjoy the sweat through Fred, I don't think it should be part of Fred's bets.

No worry Mr 2xUP, I readily appreciate that, which was why I said we were only considering it. In fact it was, I think, Joe who suggested that, though I'm not 100% sure in my recollection.

More than anything, this is a "help each other" Thread, & that is what is foremost in my wishes & thought, that we continue that way, & are able to have some collective fun, & sweats. The thread is a joy, compared to so much bad blood on the Poker Boards, so it's worth thinking carefully how we proceed on the matter.

I have no personal issues with BE moving to a paid model, I wish them every success, & based on a long & mutually beneficial historical relationship, we'll continue to be supportive of Joe, Neil, & BE.

How it interacts with Fred is a bit awkward, of course, hence my Post, as I'm keen that those interested put forward their views.

No decision has been made as to whether we will do BE bets, but we have that right & option if we wish, that was the starting point.

BOOM, Stu "gets" Fred completely, & as he has contributed as much of the "teaching" process as anyone here, those views carry much weight.

Yes, we would certainly do that, no reason not to promote or mention the stuff that Scotty, Tighty, BE & others do elsewhere. It all adds to the mix.

Recommend Napoli tonight at a stand out 5-1 with Betvic for 20 pounds, whilst I do not underestimate how difficult it is for Napoli to win there, at , the price is too big for a team which could have beat Roma away and be sat at the top of the table as a result.

Good luck if you follow it!

Mr T.

That bookings bet is Camels baby I just brought it up as I like Fred to back things slightly off the wall.

A few weeks ago I read a Kevin Pullein article on betting, and it concerned improving your lot via negativa. The gist was that it is very hard to improve your performance by adding things to it. You can however dramatically improve things by getting rid of things you are bad at. I thought it perfectly summed up Fred's results on basketball. It's good to see we are on course for profitable month number 7 in a row.

Thanks hector.

Good businesses seem to be confronted by a succession of easy decisions. Bad businesses are forever faced with difficult decisions, with potentially horrible outcomes. (WB swears by that).

No matter how hard I tried, I made a series of bad calls on NBA which cost north of £1,000. I blame nobody but myself, but I have to learn from that. We tried, we failed, no disgrace there, but we have moved on now, and are better for it.

7 profitable months in a row would be quite something, though it must owe plenty to variance and run good.

I am considering greater prudence though. I am considering writing off bad bets before they slowly and painfully die. Liverpool top half, Southampton to be relegated, those sort of bets. They serve no purpose on the Spready, clutter it up, and cause Mere and Tighty extra work. Some judicious pruning at the end of profitable months seems the sensible route to take.

We would leave the dreaded Eso Kral and Chompy disasters on the sheet of course, for sheer comedic value.

Any views on this, and Spudy's beloved Napoli tonight?

No idea who their opponents are, though, no mention is made! Quite hard to assess in a vacuum, as the kids like to say.

Sunderland lead Man C 1-0 at half time.

Like that, it affects several of our positions.

The line on skybet was at 67.5 runs on Friday night.
