The final of the World match play golf.

We finally reached the final match of this superb tournament, which was not to pass without controversy. Arriving at the first tee Colsaerts was clearly hyper, buoyed up by 20 cans of Red Bull. Below the visor of his cap written across his forehead in large black marker pen were the letters G G G. With only a cursory handshake the match began. With so much at stake it was no surprise the standard did not reach the heights of previous rounds. On several occasions the on course microphone's clearly picked up 3G muttering during McDowell's back swing " I am not afraid of you".

The match was always in 3G's favour from the moment he won the 3rd hole, but he could not put it to bed. Still only one hole up they headed down the 18th. A nervy approach shot and 2 even nervier putts got 3G the par he needed and the tournament was his. Colsaerts has now joined the elite list of 7 other famous Belgians, 5 if you discount fictional characters.

Upon receiving the trophy and winners cheque 3G took the microphone and gave an address the likes of which have not been seen since Delia spoke to the Norwich faithful all those years ago.

" I am 3G " he began " and in match play I fear no-one. Bring on the Ryder cup, the Presidents cup,the Walker cup, the Solheim cup, the Presidents putter- I will win them all." at this point the head of the European PGA informed him that there were no more match play competitions scheduled until the Accenture next March.

" Bugger it" he said and marched over to his agent and demanded he get onto the Asian PGA  to find out when their next match play tournament was.

Asked about how he would spend some of the winners cheque he told the crowd " I will get my bulimic daughter some waffles and chocolates, my wife a boxset of Jean Claude van Damme DVDs in blu ray, and a haunch of venison for Snowy the family dog. As for myself I am going to treat myself to a rare 1st edition of Murder on the Orient express.

At this point Colsaerts still in all his gear started down the road on the way out of the golf course, still clutching the giant winners cheque and with  the trophy dangling in his left hand, he stopped only to enquire of an elderly Spanish couple " Do you know where the nearest fine bookshop is?"

Goodbye 3G the Asian golf tour is in for a treat.

Miami tie the series at 2-2. Lebron, Wade and Haslem go from one extreme to the other and have incredible games. They were pretty much unstoppable for the 2nd half, think Wade made something daft like 12 straight in the 3rd quarter!

Daily Summary as @ 7am Monday May 21st

A splendid day.

Only two bets settled yesterday.

Airdrie were never at the races - or perhaps they were - but we lost £70 there.

The win by Colsaerts in the World Matchplay Golf was an absolute beaut. GREAT tip, the bonus of some absolutely beautiful updates from hector - I never knew which parts were real, & what he had made up - entertained everyone, & on top of that, the tip won at 14/1! Contrary to my notes previously, the each way part was at HALF odds, not quarter odds, too, so the return for £20 was £230, for a £210 profit. Hopefully a few others got on, too.

The World Matchplay has been terrific for us. hector's tip, together with the Rock/Rose/Clarke bets recommended by ACE2M gave us a profit on the event very close to £500. Wow.

A week ago, Golf was almost our worst sport in the League Table, now it's nice & comfy, mid-table. What a difference a week makes.

We also now have a realistic chance of getting a profit this month, too, once the Russian Grannies strut their stuff, we'll be in clover.

The Miami basketball lay had, I think, a bad day yesterday, still all to play for - or is that lay for? - though.

We had a really bad day in the Test Match, too, with West Indies digging in splendidly, fair play to them.

Amazingly, England are only 1.22 on Betfair to win the first Test (?), with WI @ 6, & the Draw @ 60. Can that really be right? The weather here in London this morning is dull, overcast, & cold.

The draw in the test match is 66/1 with BetFred.
There are floodlights at Lords now which have been used extensively in this test match.
This means that only rain is going to stop the match reaching a conclusion.

England's odds are very mean as that is quite a big 4th innings run chase.

Definite value in the Windies here. I'm having £2.50 on them

What's coming up?

Not much really.

Today, just the last day of the first Test, & even a favourable result there will only be the first of 3 "legs".

Presumably, the Miami bet continues all week, as does the IPL Mumbai Indians affair.

For later this week, we have a football bet on Saturday (Huddersfield), and two Euriovision investment, Russia to win (EW), & a lay on Sweden. The crucial draw for ESC is tomorrow, we badly need a high (late) draw. If Russia get that, it's all over baby. A LOW draw will do nicely for our Sweden lay.
