Yuk. I have backed a succession of horses that have drifted badly and ran no race today. Felt like it was jumping great early. Very disappointing.

To be fair, he had jumped well the he took off far too early about 5 out and landed on the fence and that was what did him.

I had a search but couldn't see any bets for Scottish independence? I have tonnes of family and friends that are Scottish and I have been involving myself in a lot of debates. The vast majority seem to be well affirmed Yeses atm.

Recent polls show 37% Yes, 44% No, 19% Don't know. Apparently when the 19% dunno people were told they only had the 2 options the final vote was 47% Yes, 53% No.

These polls were done before Osborne and Cameron et al proclaimed that it would be an affirmative No to a sterling union. This has angered a lot of the Scots and has resulted in a sort of 'English think they will bully us aye, we'll show them' attitude which is picking up force throughout the country.

Anyone have any opinions or any of the jock blondes got a say?

Yes is 7/2 all over the place.

http://www.oddschecker.com/politics/british-politics/scottish-independence/referendum-outcome

I am on @ 6/1.  Not only because I thought it was value but because I believe it is the best course for Scotland.    I firmly believe that people like to vote for something rather than against it.  With all the bluster from Westminister and the "your too wee, too daft, too poor chat", the you can't do this you can't do that chat, the people will vote for independence.

I am also very involved politically on the ground and I have attended a number of mettings across the country and canvassed various areas and in Glasgow, Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath, Dundee, ithe majority of people I have spoke to and with are voting yes.   In 2 housing estates in glasgow's east end we canvassed over 3,000 people who were all yes voters.

I am not sure 7/2 is still value as its pretty much a coin flip at the monment when the undecided are taken out and every time there is a debate or utterring from Westminister all it does is drive the yes side forward.  I also expect that in the coming months there will be a larger number of former Scottish Labour Stalwarts who will make the journey to YES.  We already have Alex Mosson, Sir Charles Gray, Dennis Canavan and others on board.

Yah, good to see an unbiased view in the thread.

Wasnt to do with politics mate. I cant see how someone can say 7/2 on a coin flip isnt worth a bet, even with caveats.

Is it a coin flip or is it actually just a two horse race where one horse has a lot to prove to win?

Thanks for the input. From what I have seen I don't even think it is much of a coin flip tbh. Yes is looking more and more nailed on each day imo.

Even if it is 50/50 then 7/2 is so sexy. 6/1 tho, you beast! wpwp.

I like it an I am on. Roll on September.

Yah, good to see an unbiased view in the thread.

Your not going to get many balanced views.  You have the people of Scotland ie those who live and work here who want what is best for the country and the chance to control our own income/expenditure, make our own political decisions on all matters, basically create a more just and socially balanced society we have nothing to lose but everything to gain, on the other side you have politicians and folk who are already well off who care not a jot for their neighbour but for their own pocket and would rather shackle and hold us down.  Personally, I have been an advocate of independence ever since I first got interested in politics at around 14 but I would think I was very open minded and I am able to take others opinions and arguements on board consider them and come to a conclusion.  I have not yet in this whole campaign heard a positive arguement from the no side.

Its all you won't/can't have the £, you won't be in Europe, Your oil will run out.

On the flipside I ask myself had Scotland maintained its sovereignty in 1706 and this referendum was about joining the Union and my options were; Main Parliament hundreds of miles away, MP's in tiny minority, You never get the government you vote for, the biggest nuclear weapons facility in Western Europe is situated 30 miles from your most populated city, you occasionally get dragged into illegal wars and you have a government who target the most vulnerable and weak in society.  Sounds like something worth keeping.

Probably most importantly for a lot of Scots we would never have another Tory government.

This is probably not the thread for this debate but its a debate well worth having.

In closing, I would hope that when Scotland achieves its independence its an inspiration for other parts of England to stand up to the South East bias.

Typo mate sorry.  Just re-read my post.  I meant to say I was sure 7/2 was still value.

A bit of common sense please. Nothing like a coin flip and yes has an awful lot to do to get close. Odds look about right to me.

Completely disagree. But as Kmac said. Not the thread to have this debate.

With all due respect your opinion is probably based on that of the Unionist media and very non-biased BBC.

I am on the ground and have been campaigning all over the country.  And believe me its much closer than what has been reported.

I love anything that starts "With all due respect..."

No one knows what the true odds are. This is politics. No one knows how many people will vote or what they will vote for. This kind of postulating is silly. Play more nicely, everyone.
