Great tale from Power last year. They decided to go up last of all the oddschecker firms on March Madness outrights (NCAA basketball finals) and went top price the fav 6/1 (most other firms were 9/2 or 5/1) i think in a 68 runner race having had the chance to see every US facing firms' prices and everyone else's prices on oddschecker so they deliberately went top price because they want to lay them you would assume. What other reason would a betting firm deliberately go top price on their own on a massive global betting event after seeing everyone else's prices before they post their own???
No liquidity at all in the betfair market so you could never back and lay any bet of any size so they could never call you an arber as it was impossible to lock in any profit on their prices. I open a new account with them and had the maximum on Louisville at 6/1. Louisville win the 68 runner race. Next week i try to place the 2nd bet on the account and the account is restricted to penny's.
Speak to operator/trader whatever they call themselves and they say 'we dont wish to accommodate arbers and the like blah blah blah'.
The bottom line is these firm use the 'arber' line constantly to justify closing accounts even when it was totally impossible to 'arb' that bet anywhere in the world. They choose to go top price in the world. Nobody else did. They saw everyone else's prices first yet when they do their dough on a massive global sporting event they basically cry, throw their toys out of the pram and take their football home with them and close your account. The customer gets punished for doing nothing wrong but the ' lol clueless 'trader'' who chose to go 6/1 doesn't get sacked/a warning or anything and just carries on picking up his £25k a year salary whilst justifying his existence to his equally clueless £35k a year 'trading manager' by calling me 'an arber and i have closed his account' to save his own arse.
That's pretty much the reality of the vast majority of account closures.

Whilst I have never been successful in getting restrictions lifted or limits increased on any accounts I have often been able to get more on by telephoning a bet than I am able to on an Internet account.

That is a fairly good point but, like the shops, I think it is less likely than it was a few years ago that you would get more on and actually on my Ladbrokes account it is worse. Online they lay me something like 30p but over the phone they pointblank refuse to lay me. I had a score sitting in an account there and I was going to a Blackburn game and they weren't top price so I called them up and asked them for the a score on Blackburn at 5/2 and even explained I couldnt be bothered to withdraw and just wanted to use it because I was going to the game. They still refused and it was probably 3/1 on Betfair at the time. They got beat. It made me happy.

I was at Shane Williams last game for Wales v Australia and never doubted he'd score. Even with 80 minutes on the clock you could see him lining up in the centre and knew he was going over in the corner. Great players do that, they always deliver.
Brian O'Driscoll is probably a bigger legend in Ireland than Shane was in Wales. He plays his last home game against Italy and to say the stars are aligning is an understatement. Parisse is out, Sexton is in. Zanni is out and Italy are now missing five back row players. There should be plenty of room on the pitch for BOD to do his stuff.
I can't see any Irish player making a break and not giving the ball to O'Driscoll to run in if Ireland have taken an healthy lead and team news and odds suggest they should. Ireland are 1/33 to win and have 23 points on the handicap. BOD is as low as evens to score anytime and can be had at 7/4 somewhere. I think that's a huge price. Hector, Tighty, any thoughts?

Some great posts here and a very good derail I reckon Omm. One of the best ever tips on here was the 150/1 cycling bet. Now I totally understand that the point of TFT is to stick up your bet, let people kick it around a bit and see if it is decided that Fred should bet it, but basically if anyone who is half regular here tips a massive price on something that nobody else has the expertise to throw out then we want to be on whatever. It totally killed me at the time to think that those bastards only got punished for less than £50 there. I'm sure if the bet had been PMd to Tikay (or Tighty) they could have done it (maybe via someone else) for £30 or so. If then it got posted and everyone said this is obviously a true 200/1 chance then Tikay is stuck with the bet "off Fred".
Obviously that situation is not 100% perfect and it's hard to know always what are "snap bet it" things plus Tony will get lumbered with things nobody fancies sometimes. It may also create more work which is not good.
I'm only suggesting this for bigger prices in brilliantly researched obscure markets where posting your tip basically means nobody gets on.
Everyone knows that Tikay is getting the lot "off-Fred" mostly cos he is great at making errors and missclicks...maybe the best in his field.

Rubbish yes 7/4 is a bet. Neil I think the way tft operates has to change in a restricted-monitored world. Either/or make the thread private or get the bet on via pm then post it up. A bigger network of helpers to get the bets on too

I've got a bet where FredBet are best price but several firms haven't priced it up yet. Is it worth me putting the bet on here now or should I leave it until all the other firms have put their prices up? I know Fred can't get on and I've taken the Max I can. I don't think anyone will better this price but they may. Let me know?
I'll be going Offline for the evening @ 6pm latest, if you can let us know before then, I'll try & get on.
For the record, I am NOT generally Restricted by Betfred, it is usually only only on "Offers".

By the way I have twice had accounts semi-unrestricted recently...
My Betfair account pays a massive amount of commission. I bet in an aggressive way and rarely green out (obv unless the 2nd bet is value, why would anyone ever do anything else?). I'm always being invited to football games and the races as well as getting presents at Christmas. I add liquidity, I seed markets and I bet inefficiently for commission.
When they started the fixed odds I was basically very cross. Personally I see the exchange as a facilitator, like the Vic is, they should not care who wins in their poker game, just rake the pot. Suddenly we were deadly rivals.
They never have best price intentionally but they do make ricks and I punished them hard. Now I get 0p on horses and it varies elsewhere.
The other day they invited me to the cup final. I told them to keep the tickets and save all the money from hospitality to spend on losing to me on Fixed odds. I asked how they could be considered a one stop shop for gambling (what they want) if I can't play at one of the stops.
They are now giving me a spin just for Cheltenham. I have had one decent bet so far. We'll see.
Couldn't go without slightly mentioning
www.bettingemprium.com
Russ is my mate. He works at Sporting Bet. He used to be at SportingIndex, Betdaq and some others. He's a good guy.
We have done an affiliate deal with them...sign up via us and we get money if you lose. I said this is no good, everyone is closed or so badly restricted it's a waste of time. They have different owners and management now. He said I'll look at any you send me case by case. If he thinks you arb (he really does know the difference and there are some people who do that 100% of the time), if you just wait for misprints, palpable errors, bad-each-way, things that get smashed from 8/1 to 3/1 at 9am, you put on for Barney Curley etc...he can't help.
If you genuinely had your account restricted for no real reason because the previous regime were a little timid and you just like betting £50 to £500 on things a few times a day then they'll have a look.
I have got several people unrestricted and one or two I can't believe they had the nerve to ask. You can send me a PM here if you like.
...and if you're a massive mug who bets £2000-£10,000 a time he'll pay cash bonuses into your account!

That's me done until late afternoon, around 5pm, then offline from 6pm all evening.
Lord Grumps is the Guest on Ch 861 this evening (8pm - 10pm) discussing the Cheltenham Festival, along with Boycey, Michael Shinners, David Ord, & Bill Maynard.
Plenty of footage from Stable Tours & interviews with Trainers, I gather.
Can I watch that through Sky Poker, Tikay?
Yes, on Ch 861, or streamed via SkyPoker.com.
The Chelters section is 8pm until 10pm, the rest is poker, so of no interest to you.

We are safely on board, thank you.
For the record, BetFred were still going 7/4, but Restricted me to £25, whilst Totesport were 11/8, & I could have (within reason I suppose) any amount.
Details in the morning, way too busy right now.
We deffo have £25 @ 7/4 with Betfred. Do we want a bit of that 11/8 with Tote?

Hi Sonour, I downloaded the PP messenger app, but I only get a front screen of log in or register (or view t's and c's) and all 3 just take me to a white blank screen. Is it broken or is there a trick to getting past this bit?!
Hi JaffaCake,
I only download it a week ago and I can't remember having any problems. You obviously use your Internet account login details. All I can suggest is you delete it and download it again or perhaps try downloading it to a different device if you have one.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
