Boom

that was a tense photo

Been offline, did we win?

Fingal Bay

£25 at 8-1

By a nose, just.

Cracking finish

Great stuff!

That was one of the WH Price Boosts this morning, I now recall.

That repairs a bit of damage.

Couple more like that would be handy.

"Won cosily".

Amazing it can come down to such a small margin between winning & losing, considering the race & preparations as a whole.

Rubbish,

Loving the Galleries, you really do put some thought & work into them.

The Gold Cup Winner from 50 years ago?

Owned by the Duchesss of Westminster.

Trained by Tom Dreaper.

Described by Sir Peter O'Sullevan  as "a freak of nature".

The Irish Racing Authorities had to change the Handicapping System to accommodate him.

His Timeform Rating was 212. (Sprinter Sacre is 192).

he was widely known in Ireland simply as "Himself".

Any student of NH Racing ought to refresh their memory, & see what the real meaning of "Horse of the Century", "Wonder Horse" & all that stuff means.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkle

I put so much work into this one I actually quoted the horse won 50 years ago when the picture was taken of him after he had won his 5th Gold Cup in 1936. VWP Karabiner (I've gone back and forgotten to see who posted that I cocked up), any ideas on which horse this is now?

Sorry.

I hope you don't think that I was in any way crabbing your photo galleries Mr Rubbish as I absolutely adore them, it's just that the anomaly of the Gold Cup running on a Saturday that year is etched deep into my memory.

<edit> Not 1936 although I'm sure that is etched into tikay's memory.

Not at all Karabiner. I saved the photo yesterday and then totally cocked up this morning. As soon as I saw your post I knew what I had done.

The Bookies must have enjoyed that, getting both the front two beaten.

Bugger!

Knew I'd forgotten something.

After John Posted, I replied, & said we were already on Benfficient, but we'd take a look at More Of That.

I then backed More Of That with Ladbrokes, but clean forgot to confirm it on Thread.

Think it's a bit aftertimey to include it now, but just so horsey fees a little better, here's the Betslip.

Hi all

Just a quick post may have been mentioned/backed already but have to much to catch up through

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/cheltenham/14:40/winner

As discussed before BENEFFICIENT is drifting on the day yet again due to not being a popular animal. I am certain he is the most reliable horse in here and there are plenty of arguments to be made he is the best (especially at Cheltenham) think 9/2 with 365 and hills is massive. Dynaste could win but blows out to often for me, Al Ferof has prepared for this in a massive slog at Haydock and seems very very weak in the market, the rest surely are not good enough to win a Ryanair.

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/cheltenham/15:20/winner

Think MORE OF THAT is the value if there is any left in this. Annie Power can hack up but how many horses that can win on the bridle over 2 miles end up stayers? Big Bucks legend great horse but not going to be beaten up if chance is not obvious 4 out. Presume AFC is shorter than the selection because Mccoy picked it over More of That, that was when the ground was soft and MOT seemed slightly doubtful. Already shown a few times this week Mccoy can choose the wrong one like we all can.

More of That is unbeaten progressive related to plenty of stayers (unlike Annie Power who just has a very poor irish staying chaser in the bloodline) and seems to save his best for the track. Not many Jonjo win first time out at 20/1 under Richie.....

I like them both but as said if other bets have been made in races thats fine.

Hopefully some have collected this morning on the Mccoy to ride AFC bet i suggested with Paddy a few weeks ago.

Hope everyone is winning.

Good to see you back, John, hope things at home are better.

Think we are on "Benefficient" already.

I'll take a look at "More Of That" shortly.

Thanks.

This was the Post by John, & my reply.

I don't think we can include it in our Spready at this late stage though.

I backed it almost immediately, in case I forgot. Then I forgot I'd backed it, lol. Not a great morning, one way & another.

The likelihood of ed getting on the thread during chelt nham is remote. tweeds to choose from, brogues to select, binoculars to polish, landed gentry to hob-nob with

Conkers to be doing.

Apologies to all who followed.

Thanks Tikay and well done

Was very impressed with the winner and Annie Power there pulled well away in a relatively slowly run race (timeform report first half of race run slower than the handicap)

Both have massive futures
