Scottish Junior Cup Final today.
Been told off an Auchinleck player to get on George Pope to score anytime at 13/2 with Paddys, seemingly he's a left back who takes the Pens.
Having a quick look at their latest Cup results he has scored in 2 of their last 4 games
Recommend £25 @13/2 George Pope  http://www.oddschecker.com/football/non-league/scottish-non-league/auchinleck-v-shotts-bon-accord/anytime-goalscorer
Auchinleck are 2/5 favs for the match and 7/2 to score from a Penalty.
I'm pretty sure our very own Rod Paradise will be at this match today so hopefully he's screaming for a Penalty when the Talbot get in the Box.
20/1 FGS if you fancy a Banzai.

what price was it, presume it was fave? They mostly sounded the same to me but if that one's number one all over europe guess it's gonna win. Poor old Hump never stood a chance.

Mw Paul Pierce has seven points in the first half ffs. Not as easy as it looks this punting

It was about 2.8 ish in the week but after the semi final and a good enough draw in 17 for the final it was about 2.24 last night. I have been out most of the day but Chompy will probably know what the swings in price were like today.

Was around 2.16 last night when I laid it before they sang.  It was around 1.74 after.  I was thinking at the time this is going well... It didn't get much better but drifted to 2 again before the votes came in.

Thanks Doobs, I hope the o/r turned out ok. Do you recall what price the grannies were when the votes were about to be announced?

Cheers

Sorry, can't say.  They were clear 2nd faces at single figure odds but could have been or for the attention I paid.

I'd suggest caution in the SPOTY market this year- I did a fair bit of research for last years and in the end Cavendish blew everyone away. I don't think he warrented anywhere near the amount of votes he eventually got. The year before also saw a runaway winner in McCoy, a more worthy victor than Cav in my opinion, but still it was a landslide.

I'm starting to think that the SPOTY market is driven by a force other than your average living-room voter; I'm just going to wait to see who emerges as favourite and go with that if I get involved at all.

Don't like the SPOTY bet, but good luck

My tip, because in part of the huge patriotism the Welsh and Scottish show in public voting contests (X Factor etc) is a Welshman

Dai Greene at 50-1, each way

He's a reasonably good thing to win Gold (2011 world gold, 2010 European gold), so thats a tick
He's going to attract huge support across his country in voting if he does, tick
He's under the radar in betting markets, tick

Think he is enormous value

Ennis of course, but she might get silver
Adlington and Hoy yes but well exposed in betting terms
Mo Farah yes but 7/1
Sailing a minority sport

Murray won't win Wimbledon
England won't win the Euros
Not an Ashes year for the cricketers
Won't be rugby
Golf? Not in an Olympic year

London Olympics, SPOTY should be an Olympian and here you are offered 50-1 about an athlete!

2011 breakdown

Breakdown of the vote:

Mark Cavendish 169,152 (49.47%)

Darren Clarke 42,188 (12.34%)

Mo Farah 29,780 (8.71%)

Luke Donald 23,854 (6.98%)

Andy Murray 18,754 (5.48%)

Andrew Strauss 17,994 (5.26%)

Alastair Cook 13,038 (3.81%)

Rory McIlroy 11,915 (3.48%)

Dai Greene 9,022 (2.64%)

Amir Khan 6,262 (1.83%)

Get on, fellas

Totally missed this...apologies..looks a very good bet though.  i couldn't have him at bigger than about 20/1.  No doubt him and Idowu are the lesser winners of the big four athletes and the cyclists obviously have a decent chance especially if they can get a double gold.

I've been backing Beckham for SPOTY over the last 3 months got a pretty big position now.

I think if GB win the football gold he'll be a shoo in.

33/1 still huge value imo.

Is he a shoo in for the squad?  Genuine question

Can't imagine him not being selected.

From what I've been reading he's been playing well for LA.

Have you heard something to suggest he won't be picked?

Pearce travelled over to watch him play 3 weeks ago, he didn't have the best of games but he's surely not going to travel all that way without picking him.

No not at all.  I genuinely have no idea.  My thinking is just that he is probably not amongst the 3 best over age players that will be available so it is just a case of how much the fact he is David Beckham is a factor (and probably how reluctant Prem teams will be to release players).  I would guess he will be selected but I also doubt he will shorten massively when squad is announced so would rather wait because not sure we know whether he is a 1/100 shot to play or an even money shot and it massively affects a bet on him in this market.

I think Pearce will be put under considerable pressure to play Beckham.

From the press, the public and Seb Coe and the suits.

He almost certainly isn't one of the top 3 over age players, but I still think he'll play every game.

Who do GB have to beat to win the football Olympics?

I haven't looked yet, but presumably Brazil, Spian , Germany are in?

No Germany.

GB around 6/1 to win gold.

Think we'll have a very strong team and home support will be absolutely massive.

I think home support is massive, but are we really going to have a strong team?  The Euro 2012 squad doesn't look strong and none of them are playing in the Olympics.  Or is just the case that everyone else will be really bad?
