Just settling down for this evening's Strictly and my daughter informs me she wants to watch Kate and Mim Min on the iplayer.  I can't bet on that, ffs.  This is almost as devastating as the new gambling rules.

Will be watching the double bill shortly. Just finishing this canister of oxygen first.

Managed to persuade the kids.

Would take Steve Backshall 25/1 each way over Thom at 4/1.  Alison could be a back to lay back later.   No harm in a tenner each way for now on Steve.

Thom has the personality of a plank of wood and his dancing wasn't much different.  Good looking lad though.  Steve can take that plank of wood and kill a lion with it, in one blow.  Flip flopping in 3 weeks.

Steve has all the ingredients of a winner. Get on now, his price will only go me way.

Frankie worthy favourite, Simon better than his marks, was too slow to get the Frankie 9/2, but happy with the two bets.

Quick word on Jake (am working my way through)

The tango is probably the worst ballroom to be drawn first. It has a completely different set of basics to the other ballroom dances, with a flexed knee throughout and a different frame. This means that, when he dances ballroom again in two weeks' time, he will be starting from scratch and have only a week to prepare.

This was rough around the edges and he doesn't show much musicality. Clearly very nervous.

Against that, he has done a lot of work and is receptive to his teacher.

But here's the reason why he won't win (bump this in due course): the difference in height between him and Janae is too much. It is so difficult to get the posture right, without either hunching over or the partner looking like she's dancing with a giant. Won't happen.

Caroline Flack has plenty of potential and Pascha is good as a teacher on this show.

Favourite quote of the year on anything was from Natalie: "I was praying I would get Tim". Tremendous.

As ever, would strongly urge against heavy investment on any strictly people until you've seen them dance Latin and Ballroom. Plenty of people can master one discipline but won't be strong enough at the other to win.

Pixie didn't impress me particularly. Fairly marked, I hasten to add.

Liked the girl in the green dress, doing a waltz, she caught my eye  Wink whilst channel hoping. Not sure of the correct dance terminology, but I'd say a decent set of pins  Smiley

Well, something for everyone in Strictly Smiley

By the way (possibly just for horsey?),

@betway

Fantastic Finland knock out the holders - they beat The Philippines 9-7. Next up England A or USA in the semis. #worldcupofpool #BetwayWCoP

One win away from a mincash.

All the best Tal in this.  I couldn't resist following you in at a big price on Finland on this just for an interest.  I watched one rack today at 4-4 in the Philli v Fin game and Phili just hoovered the whole llot up to go 5-4 up so i stopped watching.  Incredible teckers if you put this up at 20/1 and it wins.  Surely can't be a big price now?

Would think it's pretty much two flips from here. Be nice to lock up a final spot for the 10/1 place and a freeroll for the win.

He's a martial artist being strong and powerful. It's probably the dance he's most suited to of all the weeks he'll be in the competition. He sat down a bit in the middle (not literally, but you'll see his bum sticking out a little; very hard to dance with a flexed knee without sitting and losing your posture) and was very indelicate with his feet.

Obv can't put anyone off a fun punt, but I'd want to see him cha cha first. Can he get those almighty arms to look good in a New Yorker?

Think we've been a little harsh on Thom. He looks like a bloke who's learning to dance. It wasn't a disahhhhstahhh by any means. He did heel leads throughout, which is something we don't see much early on in ballroom. He made a big mistake and didn't recover. Compare that to Caroline Flack who went wrong and is used to live telly, so could get back on track.

Salsa is the complete opposite of a waltz, full of liquid moves, armography and hips. He'll probably be poor at that, too, but he'll have his pecs out and plenty of others will be worse. He then gets a toughie out of the way, while others will have it to come later.

I'm not worried about the bet one bit. He'll need to improve, sure, but he will be given time by the voting public.
