What a great race, what a buckle that 9.25 was, top class. Greyhound racing at it's very best there.

Like Grundy and Bustino.

Fantastic stuff.

What a memory!

Walwyn & Hern, Eddery & Mercer. Grundy was out of Great Nephew & Word from Lundy, Bustino by Busted, though I can't recall the dam. Grundy was owned by an Italian, Bustino by Lady Baverbrook.

Got the T-Shirt, the book, the lot.

All her horses were named with seven letter words. Do you know why?

I believe that is a myth, Keith, though it is true most of them were, but I've no idea why.

Eden Star is some machine.

Built like a small horse, can't see anything getting the better of him at the bend.

Love the dog would be amazing to own but looks a lay at advertised prices for derby tho, bad break/ bad draw and could be koed

I've had a small bet on Silverview Perky in the 9.45 @ 6.6 on BF, I think there's still some 6.0(5/1) currently.

My first "press"!

ON

£20 on BF @ 6.53 (?).

5. Silverview Perky 6.53 £20.00 £110.60
Ref: 18560002663 Bet placed: 21:23 28-Feb-12

I think the ones which weren't 7 letter words were ones she bought after they were named.

She looked through the history of the Derby and worked out 7 letters was the most popular among winners.

Yes, I'll buy that, makes sense. Never knew why the 7 letter thing, though.

I do know she had a Rolls Royce, painted in her racing colours, which is neat, or it was until the IRA strapped a bomb underneath it one day.

She owned an amazing 7f animal called "Boldboy", she had him gelded, he usually sweated shocking, & played up at the stalls, but a really game animal, especially @ Newbury, he could deliver over any distance from 5f to a mile, too, though he was best at 7f.

OK, sorry for thread divert, but you touched a great memory there.

It was the Angry Brigade, not the IRA and the bomb did not go off. The Rolls Royce is now in the Motor Museum at Beaulie (sp)

One of my worst betting memories involves one of her horses.

1985 King George at Ascot. I had my biggest ever bet on Oh So Sharp (who went on to win the fillies triple crown.. a feat which hasn't been achieved since) at 11/10. Petoski, who was a Group 3 horse at best, beat her.

I didn't sleep for a week afterwards.

If you are awake I recommend a small bet on Michigan State v Indiana- it's half time and they are 14 points down and 5-1 with bet365, they ran way below ev in first half with a bundle of shots falling in off the rim, and gave up a load of fouls which cost them.

How come you're into college basketball Dubai?  Did you go to college there?  Seems an unusual sport to know so much about for someone over here.

Good morning.

As my transition to degeneracy is not yet fully complete, (give me time....) I still go to bed on "work nights" @ civilised hours, so I missed this one, & your subsequent top-up.

I just checked, & the result ended Michigan 55, Indiana 70, so maybe I got lucky.

It seems I mostly run good whether I invest or not.....

Happy to stand corrected, Geo, sorry, & thanks. A most unfortunate error to confuse the IRA with the Angry Brigade.

PS - What are you doing on a degens thread? Not sure Red would approve!

Anyway, here is Lady B's Rolls-Royce which, as you note, is in Beaulieu - Keith might note, continuing the Lady B theme,  it has a "7" or "77" numberplate.
