The first galle test was 1991 I believe. There has never been a test match on an uncovered galle pitch. I made the recommendation in full knowledge that the sl attack is second rate. Anyway, good sweat for tomorrow.

Tbf i didnt mind your analysis. But obviously you should have laid the draw given it was 2-1 and you made it a million Only thing you forgot to say was that Englands previous scores can near enough be discounted in comparison to this one, especially when chasing because of Murali. I actually liked the draw lay you basically advised at the time, but you backed SL instead of doing it but identified it as value anyway, because it did look a result game, more based on shocking shot selection than anything else.

Bresnan for Monty OR Ravi for Patel and this test match would have been over. Playing 2 left hand spinners was a very odd selection choice, Patel aint good enough to ever be a test batsmen and is just a bowler who will average 40 or so with the ball.
If you gonna Patel, then take Bresnan and strengthen batting without weakening the bowling, and if you gonna play Monty, dont need Patel

Yes laying the draw was best. As for murali I specifically tried to account for his factor in previous England scores at galle. Anyway we agree essentially in that the monty drops and the broad no ball are unforecastable and might mean we sl backers win for the wrong reason. Could be a good cricket betting . One if my gigs is reporting county cricket and I tend to get team news and ideas of who is putting in less than 100% quite early

Everyone tries in t20. 4 day cc and late cb40 is littered with non triers. Quite an interesting betting medium, including for a lot of coaches etc

Talking about getting cricket team news early... Whatever happened to Ed Giddens, does he still play poker?

The last I heard was when he had a colonic with dingdell after which his career as a sky analyst seemed to decline. I'm sure these two facts are totally unrelated.
