Daily Summary as @ 06.45, Tuesday May 8th

One bet, one win, £93 75 profit on the day - happy! Great feeling to report a days profit after a few down days. Now we have to dig in & try & turn the month round.

Wigan were our winners, & once again, the Wigan specialist Dazzler picked them. Best not to do the woulda-coulda thing, but if we had backed every Dazzy tip.......

We also placed two football bets, (1 x £50, 1 x £100)  for this Saturday - Lucky Jim gave us Norwich, & horsey weighed in with Zarabloodygoza, which would appear to be in Spain.

I was very nervous watching that Wigan game. I was deep. Balls deep.

Lol, but you got there eventually!

Left it late, mind......

What a wonderful season end Wigan have had! They had lost 8 on the bounce at the end of November, the last being to Wolves of all people, then changed their system completely. In the last month or so, I believe they have had results against Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle & Man Utd. Incredible.

I see that Norwich are now available @ 13/10 in a couple of spots for the weekend's game with Villa.

I'm quite tempted to press.

If you press, Ralph, that's good enough for me!

Let me know if you yield.......

Absolute banzai golf reasoning for you Tony but......

There have been a few examples this season of players winning when their win could be attributed to something good happening to people close to them, a sort of Keith Elliott version of 'inspiration by comparison'. There has also been a run of winners that had recently had children, again an Elliiott driven idea that the 'nappy factor', once over the initial upheaval can be a major driving force in a mans life.

Fran Mol went to Ed Mols wedding two weeks ago and said it was one of the proudest days in his life and then went birdietastic to win on Sunday last week, Bubba is obviously a different man since adopting a baby, so much so he is taking a lot of time off as he wants to be with his child.

Prob with most of those inspiration by comparison angles is they become apparent afterwards but not always before but what about this one which could be the most unusual of them all.

The golf boys video from last year is a group of golfers taking the mick out of themselves, led by Ben Crane who had a reputation a few years ago of being quite a surly character, he has become a bit of a cult on twitter since then too.

Of the four players in the video, Hunter Mahan won his biggest tourney 6 weeks ago, this was followed by Bubba Watson winning his biggest tournament 4 weeks ago and last week Rickie Fowler finally got his first PGA tour win, inspired by each other or just totally unconnected?

If inspired by each other then maybe this week Ben Crane, on one of his favourite courses on tour( three top 6 finishes in the last 4 years) could be inspired by his close friends all winning in recent weeks.

Then again it might just all be complete bollox but a small win bet at 75 has been taken. He is 66/1 with Ladbrokes who also have each way terms of a qtr the first 6 this week. I will leave the staking up to you but there are plenty of big names in the comp this week with poor course form so the ew bet might give you a sweat.

I'm just sayin it might work ;o)

Fully expecting/hoping our Sandy to find us anothe of his stats typed affairs.

Yes its a brill course and has a good few quirks to it, it is currently playing as fast as it has ever played which could lead to carnage on the island green at 17 but the fcast is for rain in the lead up to the tourney which might soften the course and then it might be thundery during the event. All a quandary at the moment.

A great stat to aim for is that in 4 of the last 6 years the winner has topped the Greens in reg stats that week, they have also altered a few of the greens to allow more pin positions with the last three all having minor alterations.

It would be interesting to see if there is a Dubai Taylor factor to players in the same group or the group behind Crane. He is v slow but maybe not as slow as he was before Rory Sabbatini threatened/tried to knock his head off in the car park at an event a couple of years ago.

Steve Kean wouldn't leave the pitch, what an incredible HERO. Such dignity in the face of the clueless support from a non-club going back where they belong.

What was the business with him "allegedly" sneaking about behind Big Sam's back and supposedly getting him and Neil McDonald sacked when the loopy new guys took control? Was there anything in that? Can't recall all the details.  Some will be saying Kean is getting what he deserves.

This is why many Blackburn fans dislike Kean. And if half of what is rumoured is true then deservedly so. He's also pants at his job which doesn't help.

I would guess most of it is true.

Next round of County Cricket Matches start tomorrow

Sadly the weather forecast the country over is miserable for the first two days

This stretches from Druham, where I wanted to be on Durham v Somerset to Brighton, where I want to be on Lancs v Sussex

Both Durham and Lancs have had poor starts to the season, but Durham especially have been badly rain hit and are often a good thing in thier own conditions. Somerset are very injury hit too.

Looking at the prices on offer

http://beta.betfair.com/cricket/competition?id=863879

Draws are strong favourites everywhere

I will be back later in the week, when the weather forecast for Fri/Sat is good..to see if we can get some win value at good odds for contrived games

Thanks Rich.

I am assuming that at this stage, you are suggesting "no bet".

I see that Norwich are now available @ 13/10 in a couple of spots for the weekend's game with Villa.

I'm quite tempted to press.

Norwichs home form is W6 D 6 L6, Villas away form is W3 D 10 L5.
After Man United with 3 away defeats, Villa are the joint best side (with Chelsea + Man City) at avoiding defeat away from home with only 5 defeats.
I don't know what effect 'playing at home on the last day when already safe' scenario will have on Norwich but the bare stats say not to touch Norwich unless they are ~2/1.
