Looking for some input here.
Kemar Roach is 9/4 for best WI bowler.
He was best (1st innings) bowler in two of the three tests against Australia - the exception being the 3rd test where Shillingford took 6 wickets on a spinner's paradise in Dominica.
He tied with Gabriel with three wickets at Lords (although Gabriel conceded less runs and was, therefore, best bowler).

Is this worth a punt?
I think I might.

I like this. We have £60 with Ladbrokes @ 9/4, K Roach, Top WI Bowler, 1st innings, down to Mere.

ON

Selection
9/4 - K Roach

Event

Potential Return: £195.00

Have we backed this already?

Chris Gayle is 10/1 to be top batsman at the T20 world cup - he has scored 2591 runs in T20 in 17 months - an average of 57 runs and a strike rate of 170.

Obvioulsy his price reflects the outright price on the west indies, but i've backed them outright so going with this one to.

It should be too short, but the price reflects who is in the team with him...

Barath has played 13 tests, Has 1 hundred, 4 fifties at ave 24. Discount as a prospect in this market

Powell has played 12 tests. No hundreds, 2 fifties at ave 21. Discount as a prospect in this market

Kirk Edwards is a good prospect, but 4 tests at ave 43 with 2 hundreds/4 fifties and virtually no experience over here

These 3 have to deal with Anderson and the new ball. Edwards is tempting but probably a series early for him to score big runs in England

Bravo at number 4 17 tests at 47. 3 hundred and 7 fifties in 34 innings, but in his last four tests top score is 51.

Samuels at 6 averages 30 in 70 innings with only 16 scores over 50 and a loose technique. Discount, he'll fail more often than he will come off in England

Prices of possibles

Chanderpaul 5/2
Bravo 9/2
Edwards 13/2

9/2 is too skinny for Bravo, Edwards not yet as discussed above

As an alternative to Chanderpaul, for a run at a price, I am tempted by a rag, the keeper Ramdin at 16/1 who has played 43 tests, 1,500 runs in 75 innings. 8 fifties and is a stubborn nuggety sod. Scored 43 in the second innings at Lords. If Chanderpaul were to fail, 16/1 is a far better bet than backing the five above him at 13/2 down.

After considerable ditherage & bimbling, & taking on board all the wise counsel as to price (currently 5/2), I have decided to swerve my original intention of a decent bet on Chanderpaul & just have a little banzai on Tighty's very original surprise pick. At 16/1, it's decent fun for £20, as long as Chanderpaul does not piss on all our parade's by knocking a century earlier.

We have £20 on Ramdin, official stubborn nuggety sod, with Ladbrokes, @ 20/1, to be top WI Batty Bloke, 1st Innings, down to the original stubborn nuggety sod, Mere.

ON

Selection
16/1 - D Ramdin

Event
England v West Indies - 2nd Test - Top West Indies 1st Innings Runscorer International

Market
Top West Indies runscorer

Single - D Ramdin
1 line at £20.00 per line
Total stake for this bet: £20.00

Thoughts on England bowler prices in the second Test Tighty? While this is Broad's 'home' he doesn't play there that much, and Jimmy has a better record....2/1 he's top England bowler look generous? If he is fave here, is the 5/1 with Laddies for the series on Anderson worth a poke? He has 33 wickets at 17 in Trent Bridge Tests, has recorded 3 of his best 4 returns there and his only 10 wicket match. While we're on, Jimmy is 8/1 to win man of the match, if one of these bets wins, all three could cop....banzaiiiii

We have gone for Anderson here, in what looks like a Match Bet between he & Chris Broad. Just the 2nd Test, not Series, & we'll give "Man of the Match" a miss I think, bit subjective that, though if he wins the bowling bet for us the M-ot-M might well follow.

Jimmy Anderson, Top England Bowler ("Wicket-Taker" officially), 1st Innings, £50 @ 2/1, Ladbrokes, down to  Mr Jeff Kimber, aka Jaffa Cake.

CANCEL that bet. I was sold a dummy on the market type. I thought the price was pretty massive...

Hard to see why Chanderpaul is still 5/2 for top 1st innings Windies scores. He was top in 1st and 2nd innings at Lords scored 46% of the teams runs in the previous series v Aus, is #1 batsmen in the world and is selfish to boot.

Sandy

I really struggled to dismiss this one Sandy, especially with your record, I think it was arguably the bet of the bunch, but so many have argued that the price is too thin.

Hope you had a nice bet, & you collect.

Really difficult decision, this one.
