Daily Summary, as @ 06:10, Sunday June 17th.
Fred took a step backwards yesterday.
In the football Fred backed Russia and lost. Happily we recouped some of the losses with a bet on the number or corners (>13.5) after 8 at half-time thanks to a tip from henrik777. After a slow start it coasted home with 17 corners.
In boxing Fred backed two losers although the “Technical Draw” result for Munroe v Quigg was a tad unfortunate.
In cricket England beat the West Indies comfortably in the first ODI. Fred needs the West Indies to win the next two matches to bring his bet home.
In golf Tiger faded and will need a remarkable last round to win but several other of our horses are very well placed.

What's coming up?
In the last round of US Open golf we have oodles of interest with the possibility of a really positive outcome. Definitely one to sweat.
In Euro2012 Denmark play Germany and Portugal play Netherlands at 7:45pm. Fred has his fingers crossed for goals from Gomez, Van Persie and Huntelaar.
In cricket Welsh Dragons v Warwickshire is televised at 5pm on S4C – weather permitting. Surrey also play Kent at 2pm.
Basketball: The series is 1-1 currently and the third match starts in Miami in the early hours of tomorrow morning. “The Heat” are currently 1.57 to win this on Betfair. Voodoo dolls at the ready, please.
Tennis. Cilic takes on Nalbandian in the final at Queens. Fred has placed no bets on this.
There is also a MotoGP at Silverstone today. Again Fred has no interest currently.

"I'm in charge" as Bruce Forsyth used to say.
As announced I will be looking after Fred while tikay is enjoying his sojourn in Las Vegas.
I feel fairly well equipped to fulfil this role because, although I am not as old as tikay (or anywhere near), I am equally grumpy so it should be a smooth transition.
By nature I am a cautious man and I will only be making minimum bets unless there are exceptional circumstances
I think that this might be a good time to remember the words of the founding fathers when considering our tips. When making a tip please “make a post with a cogent argument as to why the bet should be made”.
Personally, as a nerd, I love to see statistical justification for bets but other sound reasoning is equally valid. Please don't post tips just because you are lumping your own money on and you think Fred should too. Also, if you are going to use the line “a friend told me that this was a sure thing” as justification can you please include a full CV for your friend so that we can assess his merit.
Examples of justification for tips might be something like this:
1. It's rained on 9 of the last 10 days in Manchester, therefore I fancy a draw in today's cricket
2. The owner of the dog in trap 5 has just told me that he has substituted a ringer and we should put our mortgages on it
3. During the last match I spotted that the Ukrainian centre back has got an artificial leg so back Rooney to score as I don't think the bookies have spotted this
Please include the odds, recommended amount and bookmaker for each bet.
Fred has placed bets based on tips from 71 different tipsters to date. It would be great to get more people involved.
That's all for now.
Let's make some money.

Chambers injures his left arm in the first round. Has to fight with one arm for pretty much the whole fight. Still manages to outbox Adamek. I had it 116-112 to Chambers. Judges had it 116-112 twice and 119-109 LOL to Adamek.
That was a night of run bad!!

Good Stuff Vince....... a great write up
I have gone into semi retirement whilst god chooses to rule against my selections (1-10 shots Russia to qualify from group) and various other selections.
Please wake me up if either Croatia qualify from their group,RVP scores for Holland,Carroll for England ,Germany wins The Euros or Tiger and Watney rise from the dead
Good luck to the thread
Peace x

Been gone an hour, & we lose one regular (Fraser) & another (redarmi) says he likes Mr Grumpy Nerd.
FML.
Still, as a punter, & Fred Member, I can ask difficult questions now, so that's good.
Mere,
Whar plans do you have to green out our US Open golf positions? Or should I ask an expert, like Methuselah?

If Colsaerts goes odds-on while 2 shots behind the leader, I might be tempted to green out.
However, as I know better, I would actually reverse our position and lay Colsaerts for even more.

Don't get dispirited.
Perhaps the key for us is to be more selective.
We need to be more of a sniper and less of a machine-gunner.
