Two more cricket bets

Leicestershire v Yorkshire tonight on Sky

Over 6.5 sixes once again priced at 5/6

The previous meeting between these two at Headingley

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/hi/english/static/cricket/statistics/scorecards/2012/06/o34391/html/scorecard.stm

produced nine sixes

Leicestershire are a poor team, notably in terms of back up bowling, which gives the opportunity here for Yorkshire

They also have a young biffer in Josh Cobb who is worth a watch. Their strength is in batting

Not a maximum bet this, as Grace Road has long square boundaries, but I would think it will get over 6.5 sixes

Tomorrow might be a max bet, if the overs on sixes is priced as seems standard

Essex v Sussex at Chelmsford

As Dubai can confirm, Chelmsford is a compact ground, favouring hitters. Pitches are normally reasonable too.

At Hove last Sunday, these two met and combined for 18 sixes in a game with nearly 400 runs. Hove is no smaller than Chelmsford.

Essex's other completed matches have 10 and 8 sixes respectively

Sussex are not really as dynamic a team, they have games this competition with only 4 and 2 sixes in the match, in low-ish scoring games. They tend to win (top of group, unbeaten) by batting accumulation (Nash, Goodwin ) and tight bowling from the likes of Liddle and Yardy.

However, now the weather is better, pitches firming up, their sixes tally should improve, as we saw on Sunday.

Spain v Ireland 66%
Spain v Croatia 64%

Tonights game seems low with Hills at 31.5 total boundaries does it not ? 35 last time and looking at the previous scorecards this doesn't seem out of the ordinary ? Obviously grounds etc come in to it that's why i'm ask you Smiley

Euro2012 Finalists Virtual Bet.

I believe that the first thing that needs to happen is for Spain to win their group today. If they come second they would end up with a semi-final against Germany assuming both teams got that far.

The current best odds for this are 1.21 on Betfair so I have invested ten groats on this.

It was a close run thing but we got there when Jesus Navaz scored in the 88th minute for Spain.
We now have 12 groats (after Betfair commission).

The next game for this "accumulator" is on Friday when Germany meet Greece.
Germany are currently 1.17 on Betfair to qualify (also StanJames and Ladbrokes).
I'll wait to see if the odds improve before re-investing my 12 groats.

We have 12 groats on Germany to qualify at 1.17 with Ladbrokes.
The best price now available is 1.14.

We now have 14 groats.
I have placed it all on Spain to qualify against France @ 1.4 on Ladbrokes.

We now have 19.6 groats.
Spain are currently 1.47 on Betfair to qualify against Portugal.

I have placed 19.6 groats on Spain to qualify @ 1.49 on Betfair

It is a low total however two points in mitigation

Grace Road is a wide ground, a bit like a squat rectangle. Straight boundaries hittable, not so easy to get boundaries square after the powerplay with sweepers out

Leicestershire can bat first and throw in a stinker, its happened this season

Would be more confident of the >32 boundaries if Yorkshire won the toss and batted.

Anyway whether its sixes or boundaries is up to Fred. Sixes for me, but my stronger opinion is on Chelmsford tomorrow night

I'm a bit worried about the Grace Road statistics this season.

Leics v Notts - June 12
Leics 96 with 1 six and 4 fours
Notts 98/4 with 0 sixes and 15 fours

Leics v Lancs - June 15
Lancs 154/6 with 1 six and 8 fours
Leics 143/8 with 3 sixes and 7 fours

Leics v Derbys - June 22 (8 over match)
Leics 80/3 with 0 sixes and 8 fours
Derbys 72/6 with 2 sizes and 6 fours

Not sure about conditions for these games although, presumably, the 8 over match was a bit damp.
I take your point about better conditions and (very imho) weak bowling attacks.

I agree that 7/2 seems generous odds.
However, do we really think that Spain will have twice as much possession as Portugal?
What happens to possession statistics when a team takes the lead? Do they tend to keep possession by passing it around at the back a lot or do the team behind tend to press more and get the ball more often? I really don't know enough about football. My initial feeling after seeing Sandy's stats is to put £20 on this.

Ignore the 8 over match, and Leics had a stinker in the televised game with Notts

The Lancs game is really the only representative game in those so far this season

Leicestershire aren't a great team, and my view is stronger on Chelmsford tomorrow night if you were going to pick one

If I knew that Yorks would bat first tonight.......

It's 5/2 now and an arb with Victor Chandler who are 7/10 under 65.5, imagine 65.2% rolling in!!!!!

OK. I'll wait for the toss before placing a bet on tonight's game and hope that the price is still there if the decision goes our way.
I agree that tomorrow's match looks more promising.
Not sure why no odds on Oddschecker when Friday's matches are already there.

Do we know that William Hill and Victor Chandler use the same source for their possession statistics?

Why would Spain have more possession in % in a Semi than they have in any other game this comp, with the exception of the very poor Irish who couldn't string three passes together?

Help me understand.

Portugal are going to sit back on the counter? What happens if Spain score?
