Daily Report, as @ 11:30, Wednesday July 25th

Two bets yesterday and both went awry.

Essex never looked like winning once Somerset got over a bad start in the T20. I think we missed a trick in the second match but we were all concentrating on the first one.

Our darts bet for most 180's ended in a tie. The match itself was most remarkable with Winstansley coming back from 5-0 down to win. The Camel tipped up Winstanley at 4-6 and a few followers got on but, sadly, not Fred.

What's coming up?

The second two quarter-finals in the T20 cup take place today starting at 4pm.

The test series between West Indies and New Zealand starts this afternoon.

The first event of the 2012 Olympics starts and England's women football team is in action against New Zealand. Yes, the Olympics have finally started.

The World Matchplay Darts continues.

It's 2 days until the (official) start of the Olympics.

One more time

the 38 run over

Fantastic.  My Dad was telling me about this this morning, great stuff.  Love the way he's look around for where the gaps are before spanking the ball exactly where it needs to go.  Top class.

After yesterday's T20 pyrotechnics, with boundaries galore and a 37 ball hundred

Today Yorks v Worcs, Notts v Hants

Yorks are strong favourites to beat Worcs at Headingley. I couldn't see a bet here. Think Yorks should win, and don't see Worcs having power batting for a sixes/boundaries bet

Notts are marginal favourites to beat Hants at Trent Bridge

Notts, like Somerset and Sussex, are also a very powerful batting line up

Hales, Wessels, Lumb, Patel, Taylor, Voges and Read. Tasty.

Hampshire?

Vince, Adams, Katich, McKenzie, Ervine and our old friend Maxwell. Tasty

Boundaries is priced at 5/6 around 35.5, price reflecting that TB is a ground with normal dimensions compared to Taunton yesterday

Overs, please.

10 days ago the teams played a CB40 at TB. nearly 50 boundaries http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/hi/english/static/cricket/statistics/scorecards/2012/07/o34316/html/scorecard.stm

Importantly, before the weather turned. This was televised, and it was overcast

In the last T20 match at Trent Bridge Admittedly against Leics, one of the weaker attacks

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/hi/english/static/cricket/statistics/scorecards/2012/07/o34459/html/scorecard.stm

323 runs in the game, Notts scored 196 and 23 boundaries. Leicestershire only scored 127 chasing. Razzaq 11 of the 15 boundaries

The Trent Bridge Yorkshire game saw a low number of boundaries, 30, on a worn pitch

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/hi/english/static/cricket/statistics/scorecards/2012/07/o34443/html/scorecard.stm

The Trent Bridge Durham game saw 210 up top, and smashing today's boundaries quote

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/hi/english/static/cricket/statistics/scorecards/2012/06/o34428/html/scorecard.stm

All other Trent Bridge matches were rain affected, though the Lancs game saw 30 boundaries in 24 completed overs

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/hi/english/static/cricket/statistics/scorecards/2012/07/o34440/html/scorecard.stm

In Hampshires's T20 Group games that were not rain affected, or chasing totals under 100 they scored 22,19,17,20,17 boundaries

I think most of the above, and the batting firepower both offer, makes 35.5 a sporting quote.

On.

WilliamHill are the only firm currently offering this market and £30 is the maximum that I can get on.

TightEnd   WilliamHill   Cricket   Notts v Hamps - boundaries   > 35.5   5/6   £30

25 Jul 2012 - Nottinghamshire v Hampshire - Total Match Boundaries
Over (35.5) @ 5/6
Stake : £30.00
Estimated Returns : £55.00

Darts boys.

Lewis -4.5 @ 8/11 a max bet?

13-8 or better. I don't rate Pieman at all and Adie looked in sparking form with a 10-0 victory in the 1st round.

Some thoughts on Olympic Road Race Saturday July 28th.

Big favourite is obviously Cavendish. The finish is pretty much set up for him. But Olympic teams are smaller & he cannot guarantee a well organised lead out train. The route will test his climbing ability, Box Hill x 9, although not long & at only 5% gradient, the other teams will apply pressure. However if he’s within striking distance he’s a dead cert.

From memory I believe the winners over the last twenty years have primarily come from breakaway riders. Names in the frame for this, Luis Leon Sanchez, Fabian Cancellara & Tom Boonen. This is where some value may be found?

Sanchez showed some good break away form in the later stages in the Tour de France.

Cancellara should be well rested & fresh. Always strong. But maybe he will have more of a focus for the Time Trial later in the week.

Boonen, was injured, but I believe he skipped the TdF to concentrate on London. The toughest one day Classic rider in the field imo.

Finally Peter Sagan, the seasons most in form rider. Natural ability to climb, attack from a breakaway & compete in a sprint.

Not checked any prices yet. Welcome any thoughts.

That looks a good form guide (from a rather small sample!).
Anyone else got any information?

Not for the thread as such, but for those punting

Yorkshire have won all their matches in which they batted first in The T20 this season. They've won the toss and they are batting.

Van Gerwen peppered the T19 the other night, he had one leg where he went 134, 134, 134 each was s20, T19, T19.

In commentary they also said Beaton switched a lot to 19's, more players are doing it now I think.

Not the worst bet.

I like over 37.5 180's in all games EVS & over 40.5 @ 13/8.

Spreads have the midpoints of each game at 8.2, 9.3, 11.4 & 11 = 39.9.

Somebody's wrong.

I favour the nitty 37.5 of those two.
Anyone else any thoughts?
Note that the mid-point for the Van Gerwen/Beaton match is 8 and we are thinking of backing < 7/5 for that match.
That match is first up. Will this market still be available after the first match? Perhaps we can get a better offer then?

Do they switch to T19 after missing T20 with the first dart or do they start on T19?

Players used to only switch when they had a bad lie around the T20, a dart underneath usually.  Now they switch all the time, its predetermined almost unless the 1st dart is on the top wire of the treble which for 95% of players good, like Lewis who's darts are very angled when they hit the board, or Mardle used to be.  Like a ball in pool making the pocket bigger.  Taylor would be the exception of course.

As much as MVG and Beaton like to cover and did so a lot tge other night I see no value on going lower than 8 when it's now first to 13 and their should be at least 20 legs tonight.
On Phone but will post more later.
