Olympics.
Women's Tennis.
Pironkova v Cibulkova
Boylesports have Cibulkova at 3/4 (1.75)
Recommend £80 to win £60.

Cibulkova has a 5-0 record against Pironkova and is in form (although she did lose in the first round at Wimbledon!).

This price is much more generous than other bookies.

Have I missed this, Vince? I can't see that particular match listed.

Yes, sorry.
I left it too late to tip, really.
Although the match hasn't started it has passed it's scheduled start time and the bookies have removed their prices.

As I mentioned earlier I'm not a huge amateur boxing fan however I think I've found a bet I like.

Home nations tend to perform above expectation in amateur boxing, be it at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Championships.  There is a theory that this is due to palms being crossed with silver and there is evidence to support this theory.  One would assume we would be above this.  However I think the scoring system favours home nation fighters who have a partisan crowd behind them.  The scoring system is very different from professional boxing and is done on by awarding boxers for each scoring punch they land. For a point to be counted 3 of the 5 judges must press a button within one second of the punch landing.  With a home crowd behind punches for the home boxers will be cheered loudly meaning less chance they will be "missed" by the judges.

I think we have 4 decent medal hopes but Joshua and Selby are short enough in my opinion.  The one I really like the look of it Luke Campbell at Bantamweight @ 6/1 with Betfred.  He won a silver at the Worlds last year losing 14-10 to the Cuban in the final.  Cuban is favourite here but importantly is on the opposite side of the draw.  Campbell has landed in the weaker half of the draw and really should medal at the very least.  I'm pretty sure 6/1 is value here.

Edit - Left this too late to post as action is underway so prices have been taken down.  Meant to add that I wouldn't put anyone off Tom Stalker @ 6/1 either at light-welter.  Prices for that are still available.

Thanks Bazza.

Yes, the prices are now absent for Luke, but I hope he wins Gold for you.

As to Stalker, the price had gone with Betfred, but I did get on with BWin, £25 @ 6/1.

Good decision.
Pironkova won 7-6 6-2.
I guess the grass was important.

Vinokourov who just won the road race was banned for 2 years for doping in 2007.

Was it just me, but the other teams in the peloton did nothing to help GB chase it down?

I know small teams means the usual tactics are tricky, but without Froome we were up against it against a break of that size

The Wimbledon Puppy Derby starts this evening and is a 3 round competition, with the semi-finals on the 3rd, and final on the 7th. The favourite is Ballymac Eske, who comes here fresh off breaking the Monmore 480 record, knocking 0:12 off. Eske, incidentally, is also the favourite for the 2013 Greyhound Derby. It's short enough for me though, odds on in some places. I've looked elsewhere for a little value and am offering up a couple of bets for the thread.

Whittle Murtagh takes my interest. It has good early pace, the sectional from its only trial round here was faster than any of the other dogs have posted recently and the time was very decent too. It has trialled at Hall Green recently, again showing good early, and solid enough times. Basically, I think it can lead most, if not all, dogs in the competition and with scope to improve on its 28:58 from the 18th of this month. Ballymac Eske looks a fantastic animal but our dog can get out in front of it if they meet and give us a good run.

Another I'll be having a small play on is Lenson Champ, purely for the each way value. There are only 3 wide seeds in the competition and Champ looks the fastest of those, both in the sectionals and race time. It also looks to have better early than most of the middle seeds too so should be guaranteed a good run out wide in each round. Can see this dog finalling without being good enough to win (stranger things have happened though). All bookies are paying 1/4 odds, first 4.

I think the two dogs are the best value in the competition and offer interesting options to take on the jolly. Suggested bets are below, stakes are entirely up to you, I've been a little conservative with the idea to offer more of an interest for the thread.

£15 WIN on Whittle Murtagh @ 12/1 (Various)
£7.50 EW on Lenson Champ @ 33/1 (Various)

Thanks scotty.

After my faux pas last time, repeatedly dithering & missing the price, rinse repeat twice, I'll not be making the same mistake this time.

I'm not waiting for any other views, or back up, I'll place both bets in less time than Patricias Hope took to win the Greyhound Derby.

Be right back

And the hare is running......

Bonus extra for scotty.

I doubt you, or any other blondes have memories that stretch back to the great Patricias Hope, (maybe Karabiner excepted, but he probably remembers Mick the Miller), who I just mentioned.

So here's the extraordinary story of what was, for me, the greatest Greyhound I ever saw. Let's not argue or debate about "greatest" by the bye, it does not matter a jot. To me, that's the memory though, I doubt I ever saw a greyhound more courageous & full of heart.

And no, I never backed it on either occasion. See, my timing always was shite.

Take a read of this, please.....

Baxters average line is set at 95.5 tonight 9/10 with Boyles
His last 6 Matches on the Main in the past month have had him with averages of
 97.05
 93.23
 94.52
 94.04
 94.40
 98.13
Taylor effect and the same level of play would see this win but I have seen him fold a few times against him, having said that I can't remember the last time I have seen Baxter play so consistently well.
