Love the Max bet on South Africa.
Tighty you beat me to it.
England will miss Pietersen and I feel they're gonna rely way too much on Bell and to expect Bairstow/Taylor et al to deliver in a game they have to win is asking for a tad too much.
Price dictates backing South Africa. Im on.
I don't really get the max bet here. The price had already adjusted for Pieterson leaving and Bairstow coming in. It is the 3rd match in the series so we can see the respective form. Test stats galore available on most of the players. SA are fairly strongly favoured in the betting above England (2.94 vs 4 on betfair). I don't see much of an edge here.
And why is tikay degenning it big time off thread?
Think we need chompy to come in and save the thread with a max on celeb big brother.
Morning Mr Doobs.
I have no view on the Max Bet, I don't know enough, if anything, to comment, but a debate between you & our resident Cricket Corrys, (which includes Tighty & 'Vice), would make splendid reading, far bettter than all that +Ev Happiness blather that droned on elsewhere yesterday. Debate away, please.
My off-thread degenning?
Long story really, but I had my biggest off-thread bet last week since returning to the dark side, it was on an Olympic Shot-Put lady who turned out not to be so lady-like, & was eventually disqualified, but not before Messrs Betfred had paid me out a huge lump of money. In fact, the whole bet had been placed on a complete misunderstanding, but I run particularly good in these matters.
I followed that with my biggest win since resuming, this time on young Rory, who blew away the PGA field, both tips thanks to Bobby1.
So, all of a sudden I am Billy BigBet & I can't lose, hence, with my head well & truly up my ample arse, I steamed in on Oldham last night for about £130, which has suitably deflated my betting ego this morning.
Chompy & Big Brother can gtfo, I have some 'Stars Hand Histories to read.

Hillsborough was known as Owlerton stadium until 1914, I believe
Meanwhile NBC released their Olympic figures. 219.8m viewers, up on Beijing, ad rates up 20% on budget and NBC expects to turn a profit on it.
This despite the controversial decision to tape events rather than show them live.
As ever, Tighty knows the answer, though I take his word as to dates.
Now Mr Prew, I need you to deal with the entirely reasonable question from Doobsy. Let debate commence.

Hi Doobs
In the traditional market best prices are as follows
Draw 6-4
SA 19-10
Eng 13-5
Of course all the Pietersen information is known. My contention was that SA should be shorter, Eng longer given the impact this has, not just in isolation but the impact of Bairstow/Taylor combined at this stage in their careers on the relative merits of the sides.
If I had known a Max would be so readily accepted and the mainstay of the thread had turned into a whirling degenerate dervish though.....

Lol, don't tell the poker kids that I have discovered a seam of
degeneracy
deep inside me, please.
As to "readily accepted", I did ask if you were SURE you intended a Max. This is preparing my excuses & identifying blame in advance, in a sort of lame "how could he call?" defence.

Danny Swanson to score any time for the mighty Posh v Southend tomorrow night @ 5-1 with Hills (9-2 Shybet). Price way out of line. Paddy Tossers go 2-1.
Southend are light at the back apparently and we should score a few. Fergie sent out his first team in round one of this comp last season.
Swanson has impressed pre-season. We were lucky to get him tbh and only did coz of his injury record in Scotchland. Best to wait until team confirmed if possible just in case but it's the wrong price.
Gutted he left us end of last season but we are used to losing our best players! Danny at his best would be an asset to any team. Hopefully he'l stay fit and force himself into the scotland squad!
I will have a small interest tonight!

You're only playing with profit, Tikay. Easy game.
P-Chips for the win.
I'm surprised that both teams are having such difficulty taking 20 wickets this series. Lord's isn't going to be a bowler friendly pitch either, unless the archers have done something to it. Draw rightly favourite but I agree with TightEnd that the price isn't appealing.

Tikay, what on earth possessed you to be on Oldham? I wouldn't have rec'd it, even though I am a Wednesday fan, as we have not done bad in pre-season and I knew we was putting a team out. I am also going to have a look at the Swindon v Brighton game, see if I can get any more information about it.

I don't have the draw as favourite
- We need a result. Lords wickets were appalling most of the summer and we can certainly prepare something sporting. Home side can instruct the groundsman. If I were England I'd pick Onions, and prepare a seaming track and ask him/Anderson/Broad to outbowl SA
- The Archery stands were set up right to the edge of the square for a fortnight. The square was roped off and everything was Greener than the green green grass of home as the Ground staff couldn't put the normal work into the wickets
- This could resemble more of an early season wicket.
- It would help if the weather isn't a scorchio from Thursday onwards
I think there will be a result, hence the recommendation.

I think 'End's tip is fine.
So fine, in fact, that I'm on it myself.

The ultimate endorsement, 'Vice endorsing 'End's thinking.
Anyone for a Double Max?

That belongs in the "how can we explain these things" file Aaron.
Tough one, but I thought they were value at that price, and at 2-0 up at half-time, the bet did not look THAT daft.
I got done for speeding many years ago, & I was as mad as hell with myself, I mean, like REALLY mad, I had held a clean licence for 30 years then went & did a dumb thing & got caught speeding. I mean, I was utterly mortified. Did not blame anyone but myself, but jeez I was annoyed with my stupidity.
I was seeing a young lady at the time, I think we had a shared interest in allotments, & I went to see her that night & told her my tale of woe, of my utter stupidity.
Her opening words were "well that was not a very sensible thing to do, now was it?", which struck me than, & now, as the ultimate SOTBO.
Here is our allotment, before & after her words of wisdom......

Not the first time I've heard this said about Swanson. Another fan of your mob was apparently close to tears talking about him. Celtic sayed he was average though. Ridic.
It's a big step up from the Scotch Premier to the Championship obv but looks like he'll be more than OK. Up the Posh!

Defo going, just got to sort out the dates. Will wait and see when Celeb BB finishes before making any final decisions obv.
Think that guy that took all your 861 shifts is going out too, plus a few other shady characters.
How much Oldham did you lay back at 1.2 IR last night for an all-green book?

Danny Swanson is a very good player. But he has problems staying injury free but like Shed says on his day he is very good. That said there have been other players who played for Dundee United in the past few years who have moved on and not done it at a higher level.
