Wenger a runner at 40/1?
He looked totally out of love with football at several points of last season.
RVP gone and Song likely to go, if Arsenal start slowly, the fans will really start to get on the clubs back.
Wenger? Arsene Wenger? The Arsenal manager?
Have you taken leave of your senses Keith?
Ralph, have a word, please. With added barby bits.
I love Wenger.
I think he's a tremendous manager.
He must be sick to death of having billionaire owners who actually want to make a profit out of owning football club unlike the billionaire owners of Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and QPR

Are you on the whacky-baccy?
Wenger will never ever be fired by Arsenal and has never yet broken a contract in his life so your only chance of him going is if it is at the behest of a certain Mr. Reaper and I'm not sure if that would qualify the bet as a winner.
Like you said somewhere else if you bet £10 on AW being the first to go @ 40/1 you lose £10.

isnt it fair to say he has some very very lucrative bonuses linked into his contract that take into financial performance as well as on the field?

He's a millionaire many times over.
Doubt a few extra quid for earning Kroenke another couple of hundred mill will make a difference if he decides he's had enough.

It's a 40/1 shot. I don't think it's likely to happen.
Would you deny Wenger got more pissed off and tetchy (and possibly depressed) last season than he's ever been before in his years in charge?
Is it safe to say he'd rather the Russian was in control rather than the Yank?

Tighty. I would be very confident that Adkins will not be the first out the door. The guy is just pure class in everything he does from dealing with players and the boardroom to interviews with the media. He is one of those guys that you just can't help but love and I am pretty sure those in charge of Southampton have the same love. He seems to have been given a free regin in building his side and is doing an excellent job. He has come a long way since being physio at scunny but I honestly think the sky is the limit for this guy. I would love to know what Southampton fans think of him because he can perform miracles.
Tip. Lay Adkins as other boardrooms will lose faith far earlier than any unrest surfaces at Southampton

agreed he is also very very good at playing the media which is crucial these days
i suspect the saints board isnt the easiest to work with but he would not be favourite for me

Since the Billionaire died, who actually controls Southampton?
He left a a big chunk of money to the club in his will didn't he? What happens when that runs out?

Yes he was more agitated last season than I have ever seen him before but that was because of the preceeding transfer-window culminating in losing Nasri at the last moment on top of Cesc's inevitable departure followed by a media witch-hunt which the press should be ashamed of.
Despite all of this he managed third place in the league which was nothing short of a miracle with that squad. This year's squad is way stronger and I do not think that "losing" Song would be that big of a deal. It is no coincidence that Alex Song is Darren Dein's last-remaining client at Arsenal.
Would AW prefer the Russian, Usmanov who Darren's father David Dein controversially sold his shares to and caused the current rift between our major stake-holders to be the chairman and operate in a similar way to Abramovic?
I honestly think that he would not as he firmly believes in the self-sustaining model and I reckon his greatest wish would be for enforceable fair-play rules making a level playing field for all clubs, that way we would be able to find out who the best manager was rather than who has the deepest pockets or the biggest overdraft.

Cricket end of Day 1
After being 55-4 and 105-5, for South Africa to end on 262-7 represents a decent recovery
However England's Day overall
Reflected in them going 6-4 favourites
Interestingly SA have not drifted much, generally 2-1
Of course the draw is unlikely now
Both new balls, especially the second which really boomerranged, moved under cloud cover and this is a pitch that will offer the SA bowlers plenty
What the thread does not want is a really sunny day tomorrow. Once the new ball lost its shine and the weather was it's best, the SA partnerships began coming in the lower middle order
Given similar conditions to today's general cloud cover though we have a very close test in prospect

Financial fair play rules are well and good for Arsenal with their spanking new 60,000 stadium. That's not a level playing field when QPR play in a shit hole with 18k max.
Don't see what is wrong with a rich man spending his own money creating a team. Lashkmi Mittal is one of the 5 richest men in the world, if he wants to throw 1% of his money to the Hoops, why should he be stopped?
Shouldn't be allowed to go in debt to do it obviously.
