Any thoughts about Derby being 2012/13s version of Peterbrough?

Overs have been punted again tonight I see.

Can safely say Peterborough aren't going to be the 2012/13 version of Peterborough. Fancy things are gonna get worse before they get better. Starting with 7/5 Leeds on Saturday, sigh.

A bit naive defensively, having seen them Saturday.

Can't see a runaway team in the division though, mega competitve and a betting disaster zone I reckon. everyone is going to beat everyone else

Daily Report as @ 0650, Wednesday August 22nd

We stood still yesterday, neither a profit nor a loss. No new bets were placed, & no bets matured.

Probably not a bad idea to have taken a breather after all the recent activity, we are in no rush to invest our profits, & we are not desperately trying to find stuff to punt.

We made a disciplined decision not to invest much in football (our most profitable sport) until the Season has settled down a bit, & this will serve us well.

We did miss one bet, Dazzler who stuck up Celtic to beat Helginborgs in the CL, which was a good priced winner. Unforch I was working last night, & had Posted earlier that I would be unable to transact bets after 6pm.

Cycling, in the Vuelta a Espana, our chap, Joaquin Rodriguez, (put up by Tonji) is LEADING the General Classification, albeit only by a second, & he has Messrs Froome & Contador right on his tail, but at least we know our chap is "off".

http://www.lavuelta.com/12/es/resultados/index.html?e=4

That was it yesterday.

Footnote. With £602 of Profit, & our unsettled bets costing £302, it means we are in the healthy position of knowing that if ALL those unsettled bets were to lose, we would still be £300 in Profit. Prudency rules.

Actually I put Helsingborg to beat Celtic so it was an inspired swerve Smiley

What's coming up?

The Vuelta a Espana Cycling continues.

ECB40 cricket today is the Kent Spitfires v Yorkshire Carnegie.

Carnegie? Yup.

Outgeeking Tighty # 1.They were previously known as Yorkshire Phoenix, but they dropped "Phoenix", presumably, because it sounded silly. And replaced it with "Carnegie". Which does not sound silly at all. Much.

Outgeeking Tighty # 2. Yorkshire CCC are sponsored these days by "JCT600", who are a Yorkshire car dealership, named after the registration number of the Porsche driven by the founders Grandson, in which he won the Circuit of Ireland rally in 1972. So there. Outgeek THAT Tighty.

In Football, an obscure Champions League match is televised, Malaga v Panathinaikos.

In Premier League football, Chelsea are at home to Reading. Chelsea are nigh unbackable @ 1/4, but you'd have to look with interest at the price of Reading - 12/1. They won't win, of course, but 12/1, which is Banzai-zone, looks a bit high.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/chelsea-v-reading/winner

Today's betting highlight will be at York, though, where 4 excellent races will be televised, all with quite interesting betting markets.

In the 2pm, a decent 20 runner 5 furlong handicap, they go 5/1 the field, 10/1 bar two.....

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/york/14:00

In the 2.30, The Acomb, a Group Three affair for 2 year olds, there are just five runners, but the market is a very unusual 2/1, 2/1, 9/4, 5/1, 66/1.

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/york/14:30

At 3.05, the Group 2 Great Voltiguer has only 6 runners, but again, hard to sort this one out, going 2/1, 4/1, 4/1, 5/1, 8/1, 8/1.

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/york/15:05

Finally, at 3.40, the winner should be much easier to find, being the pride of Freemason Lodge, Frankel, currently quoted at 1/7.

 http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/york/15:40

Outgeeking Tighty # 3. One of Sir Henry Cecil's middle names is Amherst.

Outgeeking Tighty # 4. Frankel is the highest rated horse in the history of Timeform.

Outgeeking Tighty # 5. Sir Henry Cecil was the only boy from his prep school to fail his Common Entrance to Eton. Yup, know the feeling mate, that Eton is a right bugger to get into.

Ooh, a perfect & typical misread by me, & as you say, another great swerve!

We swerve good here.

I could have sworn that Fraser stuck a tip up for Swansea to beat West Ham this weekend, but I can't find it to save my life.

I wanted to comment on it, but I can't find it now.

Apologies to Fraser.

Frankel and Noble Mission double today worth anything, GGExperts?

Forget the Brownlees, these are the best brothers in sport

That'd be a pretty rare occurence, I'd think - full brothers winning on the same card.

The Dam - "Kind" - who was not much good on the track, must be worth an absolute fortune.

bit harsh on kind there tikay a genuine listed class beast with a 6-13 race record

i wouldnt mind owning a few like that

on another point frankel aside the york card is not exactly appealing

Maybe, yes, 6/13, including a five timer, but you don't expect horses like Frankel to come out of a mare who's best effort was at Hamilton. Just my personal view, but I'd not describe here as a "beast" except in the literal sense!

It's all about opinion - I think today's York card is a cracker. I rarely go Racing these days, but my last visit was to York, & I really wish I could be there today.
