The one that got away........
Late last week, a strong tip came in for Everton to thrash Newcastle.
Initially, sentiment seemed positive, but as the price shortened more & more, Value Pie appeared on the Menu, & after an absolutely cracking debate, it eventually turned right round to become a MAX lay on Everton.
I was indisposed & unable to bet, surveying as I was with much enthusiasm a rare opportunity to survey the innards of the Waterloo & City Line. (4-car sets, unique in being TOTALLY Underground, & universally known as "The Drain").
In the first half, Everton took command, & Newcastle apparently resembled a pub league team. Various Fred's heads dropped.
2nd half, all change, as Newcastle equalised much to the glee of Camel, reds, & Methusaleh Minor.
Everton then took the lead, hope turned to despndency, "fml" & the like, only to turn to elation minutes later.
The end result, 2-2, enriched the ample pockets of the aforementioned trio of layers, but Fred had missed a good win. To rub salt into the gaping wound, I had, on my own account, had a decent bet on Everton at the top of the market, in the middle of last week.
So, our old friend triumphed again........
Meanwhile, I had the dessert, which was nice, if a little bitter.

Thank you Mr Sov, I was rather hoping someone might.
Ice Cream Cliffs.
In casual convo recently, one of the esteemed elders made it known that the colloquial term for a mug punter is an "ice-cream".
As we like to poke a little gentle fun at each other, now, every time someone messes up a bet, misclcks, takes a bad price, thinks 11/10 is better than 6/5, or suggests Spurs might win something, they get the Fred Ice Cream Award.
It has been awarded 13 times so far, all to the same recipitent, & he apparently gets to keep it now. Fortunately, as we have a "no-diss" Rule, his identity must remain a closely-guarded secret.

My boys Watford are having trouble at the back at the moment and I can't see things improving in time for Tuesday. They sold Martin Taylor to Sheff Wed and replaced him with flair centre backs such as the Brazilian Neuton who seemed somewhat bemused by a trip to Bolton on Saturday. The hornets have shipped a number of set piece goals in defeats at Derby and Bolton and the understanding isn't there yet for the team in general. I do expect the team to improve, but a game at home to Brighton is likely to come to soon. Zola has little idea what his best team is yet as he continues to assess the new arrivals.
15/8 seems too big to me on the visitors. Brighton have won 3 in a row by an aggregate of 11-2 and will fancy continuing that against unsettled hosts, who are likely to have the crowd on their back if they fall behind.
Recommend Brighton to beat Watford at 15/8 on Tuesday night.
Reminder - any views on this? The match takes place this evening.
We should have won by 6 or 7 last fri.
Going to his fully expect a win but we never play well there. Watford have about 15 loan players so they are all over the place!

Bristol City to score 4+ at the mighty Posh tomorrow night - 14-1 with Hills.
Posh are an absolute shambles at the moment. Nil points from five games and it's looking like getting worse before it gets better.
We were lucky to only concede five at Burnley at the weekend and it all falling apart. The chairman is having a flounce and reviewing his position. Fergie is telling the world his players aren't good enough. The Daragh-Darren relationship is stressy at the best of times.
I've never known a Posh side give up under Fergie but heads have been dropping this season. I fancy we've bought in one too many problem kids. Fergie has said he always has a good dressing room but it defo isn't at the moment.
Zakuani (captain) was dropped at the weekend. Brisley isn't good enough and Mark Little isn't a defender. And the new keeper has made plenty of mistakes already.
Brizzle are never 14-1 to put a hatful past us the way things are at the moment. The layers don't take into account enough the two teams playing when setting under/over goal market for home or away. Brizzle are 7-4 to win the match, ergo they are 14-1 to score 4+. I wouldn't want to lay bigger than 6-1.
Sam Baldock almost signed for us last summer but Fergie didn't like his attitude at the interview. He'll have a point to prove, as will Adomah, who was supposed to join for ages but never did.
For the record I'll be standing in the away end and anti-railing Posh. Sigh.
Reminder.
4+........!
Yikes.

I mentioned earlier in the thread Malinga top Sri Lankan bowler at 15/8 which I think is a fantastic price, genuinely expected him to be evens a shade of odds on. (Only putting it up again as I think you missed it first time)
http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/international/twenty20-world-cup/sri-lanka/top-bowler
£40?
Also a batsman who is a very big price to hit the most sixes in the tournament Tilkaratne Dilshan is a massive 80/1 you can back him ew for 1/4 of the odds. He opens for Sri Lanka they're expected to go far in the comp-obv more games the better. I think you crazy kids call it a banzai?

Cockney rhyming slang, ice-cream freezer=geezer/toby-jug=mug.

UCI World Championship Elite Men Individual Time Trial. Limburg, The Netherlands. Wednesday 19th September. 45.7 km.

Without Wiggins, Froome & Cancellera the field is lacking quality. The following four should feature strongly.
Favourite is Tony Martin (Germany). A time trial specialist. Has had a quiet season due to injuries. Silver in Olympics TT means he’s near top form. However the back end of course is not to his liking, too technical & lumpy. Price too short @ around 4/6.
Alberto Contador (Spain). Should be fresh after the Vuelta & has targeted this. Tweets have been positive! OK price @ 4/1. I’ve had £10.00.
Fredrik Kessiakoff, Swedish rider in his first year on the world tour with 2 big TT wins including the Vuelta. On this course I don‘t see him beating Contador, but current form unknown. Available @ 9/1.
Tejay van Garderen, American. Quiet year, but interviews suggest he has targeted the Worlds, & he likes his chances. Rode exceptionally strong in the Team Time Trial a few days ago, pulling away from his team mates. I have had £5.00 EW @ 18/1 yesterday, today 16/1.

No - we never missed it, we backed it, as recommended, & the bet is in the spreadsheet as "owned" by you. We had £40 @ 15/8.
I'm interested in the Dilshan Banzai, that is a huge price, & a tenner won't hurt us too much.
Anyone else got a view on it? I don't need much encouragement.
Need to be quick though, Sril Lanka commence play early this afternoon. They face very soft opposition today, too, so the Market might well get shaken up after it.

Thanks Photo Bloke.
We cannot swerve that after your recent cycling successes.
Not sure if we are better off backing those three, or laying Mr Martin. Advice from the maths boys would be welcome.
If I hear nothing, I'll bet "as advised".
Thank you.

Brighton game
i am more than happy to back up the brighton bet
I am not sure whether sheff wed were bad or brighton were good but they were very very impressive
three (i no i no) prices stick out in the goalscorer markets
dean hammond 20-1 (various) wayne bridge 50-1 (powder power) and bruno 50-1 (spoilsports)
all three went close last week and bridge obviously got the first goal.
Bruno created various chances and had three shots himself (two one on ones for hammond)
fiver on each please

Bugger it, let's get on.
I encountered a problem with Stan James - they restricted me to £5.60 EW @ 80/1, so I went and had another £5 EW with Paddy Power @ 66/1.
We have Dilshan to hit most sixes, T20 World Cup, £5.60 EW @ 80/1 with Stan James, & £5 EW @ 66/1 with Paddy Power.

Ah yes, maths is not my strong point. Be Advised!
My thinking is Martin should win but have my doubts. Contador is closer to Martin than 4/1. Tejay seems a good bet for top 3 @ 16/1.

Personally, & speaking as Chairman of the Society of Nits, I much prefer the 7/4 for the straight win.
