Morning Mr Tikay. Time for positive mental attitude and expect the recovery to start today, and we also have Dr Noh back this weekend to help. If I had to pick a batsman to score a 50 to save my life I would expect my choice to be different to anyone elses on this thread. Today my choice plays for the Titans in the world 3B cricket in South Africa. In the 3 matches the Titans have played so far he has obliged me by top scoring in them all. My man is Mr Jacques Rudolph and what he achieved at Yorkshire when he played there was nothing short of outstanding considering so many of his games were played at the seamer friendly Headingly. He scores quickly and he opens the batting. He is in fantastic form and he realises that the team is hugely dependent on him.

I am sorry not to have put him up in Fred before, I am blaming it on that owl for making me sleep deprived.

Recommend JR to top score for Titans v Delhi £20 @ 13/5 Blue Square.

Morning hector.

The mental attitude is perma-positive in tikay Towers, rain or shine!

That looks grand value to me, so we are on.

£25 @ 13/5 with Blue Square, Mr Rudolph to be Top Titan Tonker Today.

PS - Still can't get my head round those Team Names. Delhi Daredevils, ffs.......

Afternoon Mr Tikay. After yesterdays result I think I shall have to remove myself from the seat marked "rugby expert". I shall be able to make you laugh though. Mr Bad Beat put up a tip for the Saracens/ Racing Metro game yesterday and you wrote that myself or Mr Tightend may have an opinion. Well due to final tabling an 800 runner MTT, which finished way past my bedtime and then being kept awake by an owl hooting, I was not feeling very sharp so didn't comment. The bet looked sound to me though. Mr Bad Beat had been looking out of his window at the  constant rain all week, a heavy pitch would mean that points would be at a premium so the draw at half time was good in theory. The only problem being that I found out today that the match was not played at Watford but was at Brussels in Belgium as part of the expanding game jobbie!

In case anyone missed this little gem........

Sometimes we are too clever by half.

Just a couple for tonight, but not done much research.

Wolves (5/4) to beat Bolton - 5th v 16th respectively. Looks good to me, but thoughts from anyone else welcome. Rec @ £40

Sheff Utd v Walsall - Going for goals. The last two fixtures last season between the sides both finish 3-2 and I am sure I remember Tighty saying that Walsall are not doing bad away from. Probably go for over 3.5, but I can't find odds for this, but over 2.5 is around 3/4 and 5/6. Rec @ £50.

NOT a Tip, but an observation, a curiosity, a reality check.

Tonight, in the Champions League, Scotland's finest (officially) face Spain's finest.

Barca are 1/10, Celtic 33/1.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/champions-league

If you look at Celtic's away form (historically) in champions league that price is probably about right, however this season Celtic are an improved side on the road.  I watch lots and lots of Scottish football and imo this is one of the better Celtic sides in recent years, Neil Lennon is assembling a team of decent players with a blend of experience and youthful exuberance.  I would certainly never, ever back Celtic to beat Barcelona at this moment in time.  However if Fred was looking to have a punt in this game the one that jumps out to me is Celtic + 3 @ 6/5 I just don't see them being beaten by that much.

Further, Barcelona are virtually without a defence and whilst this should maybe make things less difficult for Celtic they have to get hold of the ball.  But I quite like the chances of Celtic scoring and there are some right fancy prices on the likes of Hooper, Wanyama, Ledley and Mulgrew to score at anytime.  Hooper for example is 7/1 and Wanyama 20/1.

If you were to put me on the spot I would think the final score would be something like 3 - 1, 4 - 2 or 3 - 2 in favour of Barcelona.

Two up from me tonight in the lower leagues - I think both of these home teams are too big.

Notts County are 13/10 at home to Bournemouth.  I know they have Eddie Howe back and I know they have won 2 on the bounce at home.  But the fact remains they really have been poor this season, and Notts County look one of the best sides in the division.  County were embarrassed 4-1 at home by Sheff Utd in the JPT last week, but either side of that they have posted a couple of league wins, including winning 4-0 at Carlisle.  Home form is their achilles heel, but 11/8 just "feels" too big for the magpies.

I'm also willing to take a chance on Torquay to upset high flying Gillingham at home at 5/2.  Torquay are certainly a top ten team this year, and although their form is patchy this seems a big price on the home win.  Of all the midweek away trips a slug down to Torquay on the motorway seems fairly unappetising for the Gills.  The visitors are on fire of course, but are they really THIS much better than solid Torquay.  Looks an awkward assignment to me.

I don't think Sheff Utd is a goals bet. Plenty of other games might be

Sheff Utd 17 goals in 13 games and only 9 in six home games

Walsall 17 goals in 13 games, and only 7 in six away games

Walsall are much improved, but that is from solidity. Sheff Utd don't concede many

As we can see under 2.5 has come in in 11 of 13 Sheff Utd games this season

18 August 2012    Sheffield United    1–0    Shrewsbury Town    Bramall Lane
21 August 2012    Coventry City    1–1    Sheffield United    Ricoh Arena
25 August 2012    Colchester United    1–1    Sheffield United    Colchester Community Stadium
1 September 2012    Sheffield United    5–3    Bournemouth    Bramall Lane
8 September 2012    Scunthorpe United    1–1    Sheffield United    Glanford Park
15 September 2012    Sheffield United    1–1    Bury    Bramall Lane
18 September 2012    Sheffield United    0–0    Doncaster Rovers    Bramall Lane
22 September 2012    Yeovil Town    0–1    Sheffield United    Huish Park
29 September 2012    Sheffield United    1–1    Notts County    Bramall Lane
2 October 2012    Hartlepool United    1–2    Sheffield United    Victoria Park
6 October 2012    Leyton Orient    0–1    Sheffield United    Matchroom Stadium
13 October 2012    Sheffield United    1–1    Oldham Athletic    Bramall Lane
20 October 2012    Preston North End    0–1    Sheffield United

they have a young lad in Harry Maguire who is Premiership bound. Marshalls the defence, real organiser. Only 19, going to be a good one

Candidates for goals overs tonight are

Peterbrough v Huddersfield
Blackpool v Forest
Notts C v Bournemouth
Burton v Port Vale

Candidates for Unders are

Leicester v Brighton
Sheff Utd v Walsall
Scunthorpe v Preston

in my opinion. Not thread recommendations but just where my shortlist was

Celtic will struggle to score in Spain & I can't see how Celtic have improved, considering they are playing poor opposition every week, hard to judge on that to be honest.

Thanks Aaron.

I don't have a VIEW on those Goals, I'll leave that to the boys, but these are the stats for this season. (League games only).

Sheff Utd @ home, 9 goals in 6 games.

Walsall away, 7 goals in 6 games.

Of course, Tighty might produce rainfall stats for Yorkshire since Queen Victoria's days, & Doobsy will give us stats dating back to WW1, whereas I am just talking this Season.

EDIT - FML, Tighty beat me to it!

Details for Discussion, not to blanket bet them please, thread elder

Leicester v Brighton

Under 2.5 at 9/10

Brighton the stingiest defence in the division, 7 goals conceded in 11 games

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/leicester-v-brighton/over-under-2.5

They are also very effective on the counter, and have won 3 of 5 away

No value at all in the home win

Nearly 4-1 Brighton with BetVictor tempts me enormously, but is not recommended..high likelihood of a draw

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/leicester-v-brighton/winner

They will score, and it its probably going to be Mackail Smith. He plays with a big chip on his shoulder against LCFC (scored in two of the last three games against us, including at Leicester) after Sven mucked him around in transfer negotiations.

If they do score, they have not conceded two away from home all season

Peterborough v Huddersfield

Peterborough concede for fun and in Beckford, Vaughan and co Huddersfield not only have firepower but are very effective away from home as they set up solid and hit a lot of counters. Have won 3 and drew 1 of 5 away

Huddersfield are a big price at 7/5

Peterborough have lost all five at home, scoring only 3 goals

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/peterborough-united-v-huddersfield/winner

Blackpool v Forest

Blackpool average just under 3 goals a home game on their own, though that is skewed by a 6-0 and a 4-0. Forest are not prolific, but will have chances with Blackpool's open style. Blackpool have not scored for two games. Think they might be told in no uncertain terms to crack on tonight

Over 2.5 at 4/5 is generous

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/blackpool-v-nottingham-forest/over-under-2.5

Sheff Utd v Walsall

Unders, covered above

Notts C v Bournemouth

Notts C the second top scorers in the division with 23.

Bournemouth have been dreadful conceding 14 goals away, though you would expect Eddie Howe to stabilise that

I too think 11/8 Notts C is reasonable, as is over 2.5 at 4/5

Scunthorpe v Preston

Scunthorpe have scored 5 in six at home, Preston have scored 8 in 6.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-1/scunthorpe-v-preston/over-under-2.5

Under 2.5 at virtually evens BetVictor is a really good price

Burton v Port Vale

Burton have scored 17 in six at home

Port Vale are the division's top scorers, 14 in six away. Port Vale have won 5 in 6 away

This is reflected in a best overs price of 8/11 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-2/burton-v-port-vale/over-under-2.5

Ignorance is bliss.  How many Celtic games have you watched life-time?

How many games have you watched them play this season compared to last season?

Results would suggest they have improved away wins in Helsinki, Helsingborgs and Moscow would suggest they are doing something better than previously.  Last year performances in Madrid and Rennes were much improved.

Celtic have scored 34 goals so far this season, Barcelona have conceded 13 goals in 10 games.

Further Barcelona are going to be without Pique, Abidal, Puyol, Alves and Busquettes.  It is thought that Song and Mascherano will make up the central defensive pairing for Barcelona.  Add to this that Barca have a rather dodgy goalkeeper then I can see Celtic scoring.

You want to offer me a price on it Aaron?
