We were pretty poor today, sat back at 2-0. 6 shots today compared to 20 v bolton. Bristol city definitely going down. Some donkeys in that side, except danns and adamoah.
Poyet says bridge has a chance, wouldn't touch it if he doesn't start. painter up against zaha or bolasie going to be a nightmare. Bruno looked injured too at the end...
I have a feeling variance is going to catch up with Palace.
They simply are not as good as their recent results suggest imo.
Assuming Brighton team news is positive, 2/1+ about them looks good to me.

We have been good for all of our wins aside from Bolton away. Could have turned the Barnsley draw into a win as well and the loss to Millwall, we should have hammered them.
If we were scraping victories then I would say variance applies but we have been solid since the fourth game of this season.

obv there has been variance for our wins also but my point is that it isnt a huge factor with us atm.
I would say in fact we are running below ev, of our capability.

When you get 24 groups of footballers of roughly equal ability, over a short period of time some will perform better than you would expect and some would perform worse.
The longer the period is, the more likely the cumulative result of these performances are a true reflection of the teams ability.
I won't argue Zaha is a very special player. Speroni is well above average for the division too.
I know Peter Ramage and Damien Delaney very well. Garvan and Parr pretty well too.
Nothing you say will persuade me they are anything other than very average Championship players. that might even overstate their respective abilities.
The results this current Crystal Palace team are achieving are beyond what the players they possess should be able to achieve.
Ian Holloway is a legend. I love the guy.
But the defence Palace have got is simply not going to improve under his guidance, indeed I wouldn't be surprised if it deteriorates.
All in all, I think Palace are over achieving.
There is a possibility they will continue over achieiving for the rest of the season, but I think it's more likely they return to mean.
if I am right, their results will get worse and if the market disagrees with my belief, I will get value from opposing them.# and hopefully make some money.
If I'm wrong, I'll do my bollocks.

At the risk of opportunism, as The Camel has opened the door, Zaha has yet to prove whether he is a special player. Jermaine Beckford destroyed United and was destined for great things according to the press.
Rob Earnshaw? Darren Huckerby? Victor Moses (yes at Chelsea but no more than a decent Prem player)?
There aren't many who impress at all levels - maybe Zamora, Holt and arguably Defoe (I say arguably as he was only on loan) would be three strikers in recent times.
I hope Zaha does become an outstanding player, but he is no more than an exciting prospect at the moment in my opinion.
I think the words are "pull pin, release and stand well back"

Think palace are good for the playoffs though.
As no one is commanding themselves at the moment, and only if we beat Brighton on Saturday, I don't think you can look past Palace as favourites for the league.
Only through lack of no one else being dominant and us romping away with most games at home, and playing well away from home. In our last two away we met Leeds who were massively on the up after a chairman change and with Hull, we hadn't our star striker and in his place a melon, a league 2 melon. Before that we were doing great both at home and away.
If we lose or draw to Brighton on Saturday, I really will lose a lot of enthusiasm about us getting top 2, just as I think that is a sign of a lack of self belief, and that there may be a continuation of stale form. If we play to the exceptional standards at home like we have done recently, Brighton really won't have a sniff. And our form will pick up again because of the massive importance of the game to the fans and players.
I would say this game is going to be an indication of whether or not Palace will go on to get top 2 or diminish, snagging a playoff spot at best.
On Peter Ramage btw, he should be on the bench supporting Darcy Blake at cb even though that is not his favoured position. He was amazing there with Delaney but got dropped for no good reason and Ramage has stayed in undeservedly. He was at fault for letting the floodgates open to Leeds as well, and has made many errors this season that have cost us.

Yep would agree.
Only when he gets to play in the prem will we realise what he is about. His recent dip in form of late isn't promising either.

To back Brighton at 2/1, wouldn't you also have to believe Brighton have underachieved. If both teams are about even in ability then 2/1 away is about rght?
Won't there be a better spot?

You are massively overstating the importance of one game.
If Palace lose it doesn't mean they aren't going up just as much as if they win it doesn't mean they are going up.
In fact if the players are building themselves up as much for this match as much as the fans seem to be, I think there is a very good chance of Palace's results dropping off, perhaps alarmingly, in the matches following the game.
Don't put too much emphasis on one game out of 46.

For my assumptions I am laying that much importance on the game, not objectively speaking. Of course its only one game in the long hard season, but that is just my gut feeling.

I'm more confident Brighton are under achieving than I am Palace are over achieving.
If Brighton are forced to play Painter at left back, I like the matchup less, but if Bridge plays, I think over 2/1 is a good value for Brighton.
