Saturdays' match vs Leeds will have a big impact on Flitcroft's chances.  A win vs a hated local rival will significantly improve his chances (and most companies have a 10 game rule for caretakers which he'll be 3 games into with no obvious candidate at the moment).  In contrast, a bad defeat/poor display against them will pretty much kill his chances stone dead.  He's best price 5/1 at the moment.

A new manager announcement is expected today, bringing closure to one of the most remarkable betting markets I've been involved with.

Fan opinion has now pretty much universally switched to David Flitcroft after yesterday's dominant win over Leeds and he's now 8/11 for the job.  Prior to yesterday's game the suspicion is that Academy manager Ronnie Branson was the name in the frame, along with an ex-player as assistant, so Flitcroft was as big as 33/1 on Friday evening.  I missed out on that by a few minutes, but have backed him at 20/1, 20/1 and 25/1 for modest amounts.  More importantly, it's now clear that he gives us the best chance of avoiding relegation, as the players have been stating in interviews this week that they want him to stay and yesterday they showed it on the pitch.

The swings in prices in this market have been incredible, with various candidates going odd's-on at various stages.  Consequently, what started out as a value bet at 6/1 on Sean O'Driscoll, has ended up with me placing 25 value bets on 15 names to cover the changing prices and effectively green-up on the field of possible options.  Based on PM exchanges, I think one Fred follower has done an even more comprehensive job on this and will also benefit quite nicely if Flitcroft gets the job.

It's been a fun, rollercoaster ride for me trying to predict this and my instincts have served me well in general, so I'm hoping there is now no final unexpected twist in the saga!

His price has moved to 1/3 best anyway, been funny watching the markets and hopefully he'll keep you boys up!

Obviously not paying attention question of the week: who's the first picture?

No. I couldn't pick Joey Essex out of a crowd of one. Don't think I've ever seen him before.

I feel duly enlightened.

why are Manchester United Evens? I expected to see them 4/6 at home against a mid table side?

Why is the Liverpool price coming in?

Liverpool are definitely getting better, but evens looks a must back to me too.  I don't think 4/6 is right, maybe 5/6 or 10/11.

Watched the highlights earlier. Even to someone who hasn't watched AF for 20 odd years, its clear our boy is some talent.

The photos have even prompted me to take this further and even find a Kaepernick Shirt for my ample body!
