If i bet on a team £10 each way (so £20 total) to win a tournament (each way terms 2 places 1/2 odds) they are 2/1 to win the tournament how much do I win if a) they win b) they come 2nd
If they WIN you get a total of £50 back, = £30 profit.
If they finish 2nd, you get a total of £20 back, = break-even.
Probably.
Cheers Tikay.

England have announced their team for the Six Nations on Saturday
Farrell plays over Flood at 10 which is the right choice as Farrell is a deadly kicker, and better defensively
Twelvetrees makes his debut at 12 in the absence of Tuilagi
Twelvetrees has one of the best nicknames "36" given by Irishman Geordan Murphy as Twelve trees are 36. In an irish accent
With Farrell, Barritt and Twelvetrees in midfield there isn't a great deal of creativity
I am hoping for some wind, and a wet day or two for the run up to Saturday
In the pack the teams look closely matched.
As it stands I am confident there isn't a 16 point gap between these teams, famous last words

Daily Report as @ 1145, Thursday January 31st
No action at all yesterday, nothing completed, & we never had any bets.
It was a wonderful night for the bookies, too, with Chelsea, Arsenal/Liverpool, & Barca/Real all drawing, so we did well to keep our powder dry imo.
Today is the last day of the month, & will also complete 12 months for Fred.
We will complete our first 12 months with a small profit, only 1.28% ROI or thereabouts (which excludes the Superbowl & forward bets), which is woefully inadequate for Pro Punters, but, all things considered, our learning curve & all that, is quite a pleasant surprise.
There is football on Sky Sports tonight, so we may yet have more bets before the year is up, but in the greater scheme of things, it won't make a deal of diifference either way.
Remember, we don't ever HAVE to bet, & I think that is one of the lessons taken on board in the first 12 months.

It rained heavily all night, & is absolutely tipping it down now in Osterley, 5 miles from Twickers.
Do they not cover the pitch, though?
PS - The bookies line is currently 15.

Not covered, unless they think the game is at risk eg snow etc

Ok quiz question. I know we say that all form is priced in, but there is a team at home on Saturday outside the Premiership which have won 5 home games in a row and are available at 2/1 to win again.
I think this is value.

Are they by any chance playing Cardiff?.......

Liverpool have completed the signing of Coutinho from Inter Milan. The fee is £8.5m with bonuses for Champions' League and cup success.
The total fee is therefore £8.5m

Earlier in this thread people are mentioning about Birmingham about their finances, but here is a complete NAP for you, not a brilliant price.
Jack Butland is 4/6 to move to Stoke with SkyBet, however I do realise Fred can't get on with SkyBet.
He rejected Chelsea as he didn't want to be possibly 3rd choice & definitely won't be first choice, but more of an opportunity to be number one at Stoke after the season has finished. As mentioned Birmingham are struggling for money and I actually think they will try their best to push this through to raise some funds, so I am pretty sure he will to Stoke for all the reasons mentioned.
4/6 will not be around long & another bookmaker has already suspended this market.
Heard in car, last bids were Stoke 3.5m, Fulham 4m.....

Bury vs Doncaster this weekend.
Bury are currently 22nd in the league, and in the midst of a barren run, earning 4 points from a possible 27 in their last 9.
2nd place Doncaster, who have a game in hand on the League leaders Tranmere, are best price 31/20 (14/9 with Pinny)
Looking at our rivals.
Of the current top 11, going down to Crawley, Swindon still have to play 7 of them away from home. They have yet to beat anyone in the top 10 away. Their goal difference has come from spanking poor teams at home, their away form is patchy to say the least.
Tranmere face 3 easy games then they have a home tie to Swindon on the 19th of Feb.
In contrast to Tranmere, Doncaster play Walsall (12th), MK (10th) and Crawley (11th). All these teams have an outside shot of playoffs and are in good form. We have only 4 of the current top 12 to play away from home. Of the 7 we have played, we have won 4 drawn two and lost to Yeovil. We always lose to bloody Yeovil.
As an aside our Home/Away form reads, Home w7 d2 l5, Away w10 d3 l1.
Crawley vs Swindon is the 5:20 kickoff at the weekend, SS2

Had just come back to mention this. I just constructed that from various stats I'd seen around. Curious as to thoughts on the 31/20 available on Donny, looks attractive to my ice cream eyes.

have not looked at the game in enough detail but first inspection suggests the 31-20 is a smidgen bigger than i thought

Loic Remy's contract roughly £18.7m + £8m fee, Samba's £23.4m + £12.5m fee = £62.6m, even before Tal Ben Haim + Suk-Young
