Neil - exactly the sort of response I was looking for.

Effectively, we could - if we wished & so decide - take a lot of gamble out & lock up some small Freerolls.

I think what makes me uncomfortable with this whole Offer process, is that, in effect, we are being FORCED to have these bets, & I don't like being forced to do anything. If one of them were to win us a lot of money, that'd be nice, but there would be little sense of satisfaction or communal back-patting, as we did not even choose them.

My initial & gut reaction is to do some trimming along the lines suggested, but before I do, I'd appreciate input from others.

Very kind of you Tikay.

I was thinking about that just now.

I am about to write some stuff that "NEEDS" to be done on Cheltenham in the next 48 hours. It will be harder to get on if everyone in the world sees my ideas, but I really would like Fred and the Fred regulars to get on. It's tricky. I'll probably put up some big price suggestions that won't last long.

Joe is obviously keen that many hundreds more people sign-up to the site as we have no plan on exactly how we will attempt to make money out of our project, but we do know we'll need some customers and their details so we can try and sell to them.

Maybe we can have a couple of hours and then I'll post the odd suggestion on Fred. I really enjoy tft and some people here are definitely owed a pint from me for their help. Really want to pass on some winners if I can.

Yes, it is kind of awkward, doing the right thing.

I think that last part (enboldened) is the short-term answer though. There should be a (say) 2 hour period of grace AFTER a suggestion is placed on BettingEmporium BEFORE it is Posted on Fred, either by you, Joe, or any Fred regular.

We will review that stance if & when the Site becomes subscription-based.

Excellent post.

Yes, arbers are filthy, but this is a cynical exercise by bookmakers to try and get punters to put money back into dormant accounts/find fresh fish.

Take the free money where you feel it's right, and use it to buy the first round on Tip for Tikay mini bash weekend!

Going back a year did Fred have a good 2012 Cheltenham?

Yes.

We invested £475, & got back £612.50.

Oddly, amongst the losers, was Oscar Whisky!

We had two nice winners.

Mahogany Vic gave us Finians Rainbow, we had £50 EW @ 5/1, & that got home & we clerared £300.

Arguably the best bet though was Nicky Henderson to be Top Trainer (£50 @ 3/1) which absolutely cruised in, down to Simon Galloway.

You can see the bets by going to the March Spreadsheet, all the different months are at the bottom of the Spreadsheet.

Here is March 2012 (Cheltenham) "ready-clicked".....

Quite surprising that there have been no "All-Festival Specials" put up yet, such as Top Trainer/Jockey, How Many Favs, Winning Distances, & all that sort of stuff, but I guess they will come nearer the time, or on the day.

There is a tremendous collection of them on offer here....

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/racing-specials/long-term

I think someone should be delegated to go have a good look & see if there is any value to be had. I do seem to recall that the Nicky Henderson bet last year was a beauty.

Pretty sure Henderson was about a 6/4 shot and that really smarmy Ladbrokes PR guy was being interviwed on RUK pre Cheltenham and said "for the next hour we'll lay 3/1 Henderson for top trainer".

Probably, don't recall, but Mr Galloway stuck it up, so he'll know.

Daily Summary, @ 1055, Friday March 8th

We lost £30 yesterday, just one completed bet, our first this week I think, which bombed.

It was a Darts bet, 7 our man, MvG, failed to turn up against a resurgent opponent. I think, in the long-term, we should have learned from the advice Bazza gave us - these Premier League Games are a bit exhibitionish, a bit knockabout, & the short format increases variance. It may turn out to be £30 well-spent if we take that on board & keep the Premier League Darts stakes sensible.

Elsewhere, the Cheltenham action is reaching fever pitch, but it has now been agreed we will sensibly trim some of our positions & liabilities on a risk-free basis. I'll do a seperate Cheltenham Update shortly.

In Cricket, our two Series Bets are both very nicely placed, though it is early doors yet.

We eventually swerved the Cadillac Golf, maybe just as well, it turned into a birdie bonanza on Day One due to lack of wind, & the top twelve or so are covered by 1 shot. Slightly worrying that amongst that batch is Graeme McDowell.......

Woods & Mickelson are both right in the mix, but McIllroy had another shocker & is 7 off the pace. On balance, we did well to stay clear of the Event I think.

We placed a bet on a Rally. In Mexico. On a bloke with a silly hat.

Cricket apart, & maybe some Rugby League, we have nothing lined up for today.

Tomorrow, 6N returns, where we have a bit of pain in the pipeline unless we get very lucky.

We will be placing a lumpy bet on Spurs to beat Liverpool shortly, too. Getting the right side of Liverpool has been character testing, so fingers crossed we get this one right.
