New Zealand v England Test Match

England were all out for 465, Trott never extended his Innings, & Prior scored 82.

New Zealand then had a torrid time, & were 66/3 at close of play. At least our man McCullum now has a nice platform, & so far, does not have much to beat. (Top Score so far is Williamson, 32 not out). I am not 100% sure, but I think the terms of the bet on McCullum is FIRST INNINGS ONLY.

Daily Summary, @ 0830, Friday March 15th

We made a profit of £79 yesterday.

We started well with a £150 winner, but as the day progressed, the wheels went a bit wobbly, & we ended up giving half that profit back.

NINE bets completed (Horses, Darts, Snooker, Tennis, Rugby League), 6 were losers, three were winners.

Losers

Albertas Run, seemed to run as if something was amiss. -£20.

Federer Tennis. He lost to Nadal, back from injury, & oddly, it was Federer who suffered injury, seemingly having back problems. -£30.

Oscar Whisky, -£15.

Bingham, Snooker. Good enough to win, but was error-strewn & paid the price. -£40.

Barney v Thornton Darts. We nearly got lucky, but the match just never caught fire until it was too late. -£40.

Reve De Sivola, -£10.

Winners

Cue Card, a great Priority Offer, (FRED), +£150

Woolaston beat Mark Williams, terrific spot by Tighty. +£64.

Sheffield v Featherstone, Rugby League. Yet another typical hector winner, +£20.

One day remains at Chelternham, & barring a major accident, will have been profitable for us. Who'd have thunk?

Quick word of congrats to our new Tipster "FRED", who essentially owns all the Priority Offers.

13 bets, £610 invested, Profit £500, ROI 82%.

Bookies? We love 'em.

Quick "thank you" is due to horsey who has kept us abreast of most of these Priority Offers.

Another Fred milestone was achieved yesterday, quite remarkably imo.......

Since we began....

We have placed 1,281 bets.

We have invested £43,819.

We have made a profit of £1,784.86.

Which means that for the first time, our ROI has exceeded 4%.......

                                                        ROI 4.07%

Gold Cup Book.

There MAY be futher Priority Offers to add to these.

Some consideration is being given to balancing our exposure to Long Run via some Trading.

Long Run - £25 WIN @ 7/1

Long Run, £10 WIN @ 13/2

Long Run, £10 EW (£20 total) @ 10/1

Captain Chris, £10 WIN @ 25/1

Total Invested = £65

half-rhetorical question (as I don't fancy it that much) (for Doobs, think he's the main proponent of the bet)

thread has £10 Long Run at 13-2

thread has £10 e/w Long Run at 10-1

to win £200ish

It's 5-1 on Betfair

Should we be putting up a £30 lay and taking the freeroll/green position?

I think this was proposed a while back Rich, but we were too busy thissing & thatting to make a decision.

I'd like Doobs view on it, as he proposed the bets on Long Run, & although he is very sweet on Long Run, I think he's alao very pragmatic about these things.

We do have a pretty big exposure on the Gold Cup, which is making me a little antsy-pantsy.

I'll do a Gold Cup Summary shortly, to help us make a decision.

It was put up together with greening out our positions on Cue Card and Hurricane Fly amongst others.  I was against it then and am hardly going to change my view because someone doesn't fancy it.

To be fair, I think Hurricane Fly became too short and if I was going to green out, I could have made a case there.

It has been my contention throughout that Long Run should be the highest rated horse in this race.  I am prepared to accept Bobs Worth is a worthy favourite as he won the Hennessey so well.  At the start of the season I thought Sir Des Champs could be a future champion, but think he has been a bit disappointing.  Silvianico Conti did beat Long Run earlier in the season, but I always forgive a horse its first race.

Long Run won the King George despite probably going too fast/too early.  I thought it was a sign that he was close to his very best the way he came back at Captain Chris.  Sure, he should have won last year's gold cup but that was very much the exception looking back at his form.

I can see us getting antsy if we had one of our big bets, but we haven't.  If you want a price I would lay off it would be around 4/1, which would put him 2nd favourite.   I am very unlikely to do this personally.

The forecast rain isn't going to harm his prospects either.

Sundry Cheltenham Bets

McCoy, Top Jockey, £20 @ 15/2. Last Rites have been adminstered.

Mullins, Top Trainer, £40 @ 7/4. Not sure how we stand, but I think we are in OK shape.

£2 Lucky 15, total cost £30. Not quite dead.......(Rock On Ruby, Sir Des Champs, Boston Bob, Champion Court).

Case closed.

The first Long Run bets were both by Doobs, plus one which was a Priority Offer.

In Doobs, we trust.

Mullins is 1/5 this morning.  Of course Henderson has Long Run today Wink

I have just realised that we still have Irish Saint as a bet in the Triumph Hurdle, in fact it was declared a non-runner a while back, so our figures are over-stated by £20.

We will correct this in tomorrow's numbers.
