Think this is a massive over-reaction to the sending off in Sunderland/Norwich.

Recommend a lay of Sunderland at 2.74 or better. I did it at 2.36 before the free-kick but I was expecting it to be 3.0.

Lay £40.

Market SUSPENDED whilst I was placing the bet........

good timing sir

Adzy,

Our ESC nonsense, thanks to that damn Chompy, is.....

Swden @ 12/1

Netherlands @ 10/1. I have it on good authority that Netherlands is actually Holland.

On the Spready they are listed under "Misc", but I need to word Mere, they should be "Novelty"

an explanation  Cheesy

That is the most informative and educating few minutes I have spent in ages.  I never knew half of that.

Ha ha yeah that was brilliant, in a kind of geeky way.

Point of order

This man, a thread regular, spotted at Cheltenham

I propose a thread ban for excessive countryside wear, and red trousers

Shocker.

Thread ban, imo.

One more round of the chess before the players have a rest day, so I would expect there to be some longer games today, with that comfort.

Our man has the Black pieces against Boris Gelfand, who lost to Aronian yesterday after getting into a bit of a muddle. I would expect a close game but Carlsen might play on in a seemingly drawn position against Gelfand, just to see if he can eke out a critical advantage.

There seems to have been a good bit of money on Betfair today for Carlsen, he has come in from 1.7 to 1.46.

Spent about four hours yesterday going through all my Cheltenham bets and settling-up with various people. I took advantage of the offers available where I could and I just thought I'd share my experience with the Ladbrokes enhanced prices on favourites offer.

For those not familiar with what happened Ladbrokes offered the best price on all 27 favourites on Monday morning between 9am and 11am. This was available in all shops as well as other platforms and they didn't just mean matching the best price out there, they meant going the best price by miles. You could have evs Quevega, evs Simonsig, 3/1 Dynaste, 9/4 Ponte Alexandre etc etc. Every single bet was a big arb with Betfair. Clients were limited to £50 win or £25 each-way.

Sadly I only found out about this at 10.05am despite it being featured in their advert in the Racing Post.

I had 17 bets and then repeated the same 17 and got another guy to get me 17 (he got £25s).

Of the ten I left alone I missed two winners in Alderwood (6/1) and Back in Front (4/1).

 I staked £2125 and returned £3750.

I didn't think at all about arbing and just tucked them away without really thinking about them. In many cases I later bet heavily against my "selections".

I share this to make the point again (if it were needed) that if we can get a price well away from a mature market then we don't really have to worry about what we fancy (I appreciate it's a small sample size).

I also wonder if this was the best offer of Cheltenham and I wonder if it was the worst from the bookies point of view as Ladbrokes got very little exposure from it (I barely saw it mentioned) and by offering it in the shops it must have meant they lost a lot to arbers.

The only reason I didn't bet 27 was it was taking me a long time to write them all out and I wanted to try and go to more shops.

The worst offer from a bookmakers point of view must have been Corals evs Sprinter Sacre. They shot themselves in the foot by limiting to £20 (no problem with that), but then restricting about 20% of the customers to £10. If you were planning to do that why not just make it £10 a go? The offer was highlighted by that money saving website where they explained how to arb it with Betfair and the second the race was over and settled the effect of all those tossers nicking their £8 was that it crashed the Corals website for a few hours on one of the busiest days of the year.

I can't believe they got enough good accounts to make it worth it.

I like to think I keep my finger on the pulse but never heard of that sad blokes offer. Big miss.

It's strange how you can lead a horse to water etc. I go to chelts with a bunch of ten lads, same group for twenty years.

Told them all the offers.  Four did the Simonsig and SS offers but none did the priority stuff etc etc. amazing!

Carlsen is trying to win with a small endgame advantage as we speak. We can expect that if it is winnable, he will win it. He just seems to keep doing that.

This would be good as Aronian has beaten Ivanchuk (should have recommended it now!!). Radjabov (the other leader) is in a mess and will do very well to avoid defeat against Svidler.

Kramnik and Grischuk drew in a wild game.

I must admit a hint of surprise at seeing the south african joint fav considering i believe he has yet to win on the european tour and from doing some brief reading this morning is generally considered a bit of a bottler

I did notice that rather oddly altho he was joint fave with Furyk, the price of their twoball was

Jim Furyk (1.83)   Draw (9)   George Coetzee (2.63)

Coetzee's a young player and admitted that he was just out in the us to get experience , so a bit early to shout bottler, I think.

Just heard you can get Suarez at 16/1 for top prem scorer. Surely a great value each way? 1/4 the odds for top 4. He is going to play every game, expect Lollerpool to be much stronger this season and other top strikers apart from Rooney and may RVP will be rotated out too much.

Get on!

As Mr Kendall may tell you later, this isn't thread thread for random punts and that one above definitely is. I agree it might seem to you that it might be a decent price, it actually isn't.

Liverpool will be nowhere near again, they don't score many goals and if Liverpool are in. The hunt for a domestic cup, then he would perhaps be rested at one point or another.

The bet about Rooney is a really good one and I would lump on, because that is a cert, but then again 9 months is along time to be without money.

Post of the year imo.

Just bumping this, which was incidentally shot down as random ill informed random punt. Looking forward to my returns.

Greg the thread made Money on Suarez scoring over 20 goals, which he did with a third of the seaosn to spare, so its not all doom and gloom.....

More tips please, preferably Mansfield/conference stuff which is under-researched too....

Don't let one knock back put you off!
