Kramnik and Aronian (our man's two main rivals) have both won their games today.
Carlsen is ahead against Gelfand and still playing. The engines (chess speak for 'computers') say Gelfand has just made a mistake to give our man a tangible edge. Barring a blunder, he won't lose the game. It is just a question of whether he can convert the advantage to a win.
Link below is the live game and analysis:
http://london2013.fide.com/analysis/index.html
The numbers by the moves tell you what edge (where 1 is the equivalent of a pawn) there is in the position - positive numbers mean white is winning; negative black. We want the numbers getting higher than the current 1.51.
The players have lots of time left, but I can see this game being progressed substantially in the next half hour.

If the other two both won, our man really needs to win this, yes?

Not necessarily, but a few moves on it's pretty much weighed in now.

What Skippy said.
You always want to be in front and clear, but being joint leader isn't bad.
Carlsen just missed a clever trick to win the game in one foul swoop but he should still win from here.

Indeed. All draws to a close this weekend.
I haven't had a look at the games, but it means it has become a 3 horse race now. We are on Hurricane Fly half a length clear, with Rock on Ruby and Grandoeuet just behind.

"then with the polished version of their message that UKIP provides"
Not sure I agree with this considering BNP have mostly left wing policies, whereas UKIP are right wing. Obviously I agree both are anti immigration and UKIP could pick up the knuckledragger racist vote, but that doesn't mean that they have the same ideology.
On the basis that I thought Dung might have been wrong I just looked up UKIP's immigration policy. How wrong I was. Farage has done an incredible job of making a party with such a right wing agenda seem respectable.
Farage was speaker at a St Georges do I was at last year. Superb
, and speaks mucho sense if we are ever to turn the ship round in so many ways in this country.
Godwin's law anyone?
It does fit Godwin´s Law rather better than most though, obviously the individual that we wont mention spoke well and the masses loved it. Big Adz sums up the way the German public were feeling at the time quite well. Boris frightens me a little bit (the saving grace for the country is that he probably win the Conservative leadership election) but Farage it too ridiculous to be a problem.

Didn't realise it was possible to use chess as a method of giving Trigg the rub down.
wp sir.

Interesting, I am off to Munich in a couple of weeks for a fortnight, I dare not think what that will do to me!

any opinions on Sunderland to be relegated? they are currently 5/2 to go down with bet365.
they just announced that Fletcher and Cattermole are out for the rest of the season.
they are 4 points above Wigan having played a game more, im just not sure how many points they will pick up the rest of the season with a tough run in.

5/2 seems about right. I expect it will be tight but think they will avoid.

I've added another to my Greyhound Derby portfolio at a big price and recommend that TfT also makes a small investment.
Skate On is available at 150/1 with Hills which is a standout price, most other firms are 66/1.
Skate On finished 2nd in the 2012 Oaks, which runs in December so recent form. The Oaks carries a strong field and is held at Wimbledon so that's obviously a positive. Early pace is fantastic. The negative is that the 480m at Wimbledon is the absolute maximum it can go but the great early will get it through the rounds and give us a good sweat. Also, despite getting picked up around Wimbledon on a couple of occasions, including the Oaks final, the times it has ran have been very good (28:53 and 28:54 in consecutive races).
Basically the price is wrong when looking at comparisons. Droopys Hope, the Oaks winner, is 50/1 and Lemon Pluto, who we saw winning tonight on Sky, is 25/1 and finished behind Skate in the final.
Not as strong on this as the previous selections but can't go too far wrong with £10 @ 150/1 considering the price is way ool.
Also, as a side note: Jaytee Hellcat who we've backed at 100/1 is now 40/1 with Hills, 66/1 in most, after a decent 2nd to Ballymac Eske last week and a nice win in front of the cameras tonight at Yarmouth.
