After a goalkick is taken, when it gets launched into the air, is it still in the team who took the teams possession until it's touched, or is it no possession?

Similarly, when there is a corner is it counted as possession from when it's put behind until it's taken or is this no possession too?

Anyone know the answer to this?

From a goal kick, the ball is in open play (ie no possession) until a player touches the ball.

From a corner, it is deemed already in the teams possession (because you can score directly from a corner).

Can't you score directly from a goal kick?

Also, if there are periods when neither side is deemed to have possession, how can the possession stats add up to 100%, which they always do?

OPTA Possession Stats

As this has become quite a hot, & interesting topic, & there are several unanswered questions itt, anyone unsure as to how OPTA calculate them should take a minute to peruse this, which, I think, explains it all.

thanks tikay

walsall now odds on in most places just 4 books still laying the evens

having done a lot more reading again this morning it appears that the goalkeeper will be the only starting who has not made a senior appearance.

Crewe are quite rightly proud of this and it looks like mr crewe dario may be on the bench for a last time as it was always a dream of his to field an all academy x1.

If the keeper receives the ball in play, picks it up, and punts it down field and goes in then it is a goal. If it is an actual goal kick, resulting from the opposition kicking the ball out of play, and the ball goes straight into the goal it would not be a goal.

The same applies to a penalty. If the penalty hits the post and comes back, the original taker cannot touch the ball again until another player has, otherwise a freekick will be given to the opposition.

Jenningsbet have called the Walsall bet a "palpable error" which is unbelievably dirty imo.

Good man, thanks.

I thought that was a rather interesting bet, but it helps to know the parameters.

Thanks for the class.

I don't think this can be palpable - ever. I can name at least three other firms who were 13/8. If the weather changes in a sporting event and they don't react quickly enough they would probably scream too.

Did you get an email? Can you publish it?

You would have thought.

If I had backed them with Jennings I would be bashing IBAS door down.

I got on elsewhere, it's a mate whose been fckd by Jennings.

Palpable error and account limited to pennies.

Only good thing is they've done it before the match, which mean he's freerolling. If Walsall fail to win, he just says nothing, but if they win he goes to IBAS.

Clueless.

madness

as joe says there were 3 firms going 13-8 at the time corals were

it should be a no brainer win via ibas albeit after a while. But quite why they have voided it before seeing if they could win is beyond me
