I got Tikay on for the £20 he wanted.

Roffle at Yeovil playing, and Gary Johnson managing, in the Championship.

I gather it was a fairly large upset that they were there, even bigger that they've actually gone up.

I'm sure that the championship teams are all happy with the result though Cheesy

Tighty, what do you think of Peter Siddle's chance of a good series? He is the highest ranked bowler in either side (ICC rankings of course to be taken with a salt mine), would be likely to play all five and a fiery, boom or bust sort of attacker. Would see him as effective against our tail, as well as a genuine threat higher up.

4/1 Top Aussie (Staniel James, Vicktah and Laddies)
10/1 Top overall (Vicktah and Laddies)

In both markets, he's behind Pattinson.

Do we assume the bookies are pricing these about right?

I wrote about this this morning. Won't link, in case I get a Adzing.

Roughly Pattinson 5/2, Siddle 7/2, Starc 4/1 Lyon 7/1

Pattinson is a new ball swing bowler. Going to be a very good one but priced in to my mind.

Siddle an old hand, but very little recent form. In as a third seamer, stock bowler I think

Starc is the interesting one to my mind. Left arm, and fast. England always have problems against LHF, or would do if Mitchell Johnson could ever bowl his good stuff consistently. Starc has county experience at Yorkshire, and to my mind is the value of these three

Lyon should come into it on the same basis as we like Swann. On the evidence so far we can't say he's going to take the 20-25 wickets plus needed to win this type of bet though

The issue with any of these seamer bets are that thbe likes of Harris and Faulkner culd be rotated into a four man attack through a series such that any of the four above might not play all five Tests

For England, you know that Anderson and Swann will play every game, fitness permitting

So cliffs

I prefer Starc to Siddle at prices. Siddle does have experience and a real fighting mentality. Siddle's form is patchy though

The general strength of the Aussie bowling will keep Aus in this series but Watson and Clarke apart I struggle to see their top six as strong enough to win them the series

Hadn't realised you'd covered this off already. Should have expected it, tbh!

Thanks

The Trent Bridge pitch was uncovered today, an hour or so ago

Looks straw coloured, dry, full of runs

Waiting for a close up to see if there are cracks, from there you get a feel for when/whether the pitch might deteriorate

Horses Ante Post

Sean St Leger

The positions are

Libertarian e/w at 8-1, win 6-1
Telescope win at 20-1
Leading Light win at 10-1

Current ante post market

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/ante-post-racing/flat/st-leger/winner

Leading Light is challenging for favoritism with Galileo Rock
Libertarian and Telescope trading at/slightly under the backed prices at 8-1 and 16-1 respectively

The Arc

positions

Orfevre 6-1 win
Ocovango 25-1 win

Wins by Al Kazeem and Intello at the weekend have taken them to joint favouritism in this early market

Orfevre is 3rd favourite around 16-1

Ocovango generally trading at 16-1

Ruler of the World and Trading Leather are other orses priminent ante-post

Libertarian is slightly bigger than we backed him after a bad run in the Irish Derby.  This is balanced by the shortening of Leading Light due to the bad runs of Libertarian and Ruler of the World.  Telescope must be a likely non runner with prices on Betfair double that of the Bookies.

Orfevre is general 6/1 and 7/1 in two spots (8/1 Betfair).  Part of the reason is that he burst blood vessels after work a couple of days ago, but Al Kazeem looks a very good horse.  Intello is taking a very strange route to the Arc, with a run in a group 3 over a mile at the weekend.  Because Intello is now viewed as the number 1 then Ocovango can be backed at 26s on Betfair.  He seems to be taking a more conventional route to the Arc, so I wouldn't give up hope.

tighty or anyone

i have not seen that much of lyon as a spinner but his test record especially recently suggests he is not AS bad as the media over here seem to be making out?

has anybody seen a firm pricing his over under for the series? I am considering the overs

cheers

He needs to do well in the first couple of tests for sure, as Agar is waiting for his place

He actually bowled well in the Indian series, so we'll see

try http://www.sportingindex.com/spread-betting/cricket/test-series/m4045771_1/england-v-australia-test-series-player-markets

for spreads per player batting and bowling

Rogers looking a touch low based on the fact he has played in these conditions for years?  Or is he really out of his depth as these suggest?

In the interview with TV's TK, Warney sayed...

"Young Agar is a good left-armed spinner and he'll probably get the nod in the first test ahead of Lyon."

33-1 with Sid and as short as 10-1 elsewhere. Any valoo here?

Looks a touch low

Batting conditions likely to be good

Lots of UK experience, and lots of county runs over 9 years

Of course has has to face Anderson and co and the new ball, having played only one Test Match so will be priced on that rather than the hope that he will adapt
