The Wie putting style is fairly new and has apparently moved her up the ladies putting rankings by a fair bit. I can't help thinking that it must put terrible strain on her back.
Yes, agree, but if it is improving her game, good luck to her.
In golf, the textbook swings, grips & stances are well established, but it is remarkable how many golfers eschew the textbook & have really bad - well,
unconventional
- swings & grips - & still succeed.
Wiggle Waggle & Furyk are perfect examples - immensely successful, but if you took those swings to a Golf Coach he'd look at it in horror.
I quite like unconventional styles. Reminds me a little of poker, where we see players who play unconventionally -
technically bad
according the the younger generation - still manage to hold their own. Folks like Larence Gosney, for example, or Rastafish, get castigated left right & centre, but they do OK it seems to me.
Piggott rode too long, Chris Eubank held his hands too low, Connor introduced the then oddity of a double handed backhand, Botham was a terrible bowler yet took wickets galore with bad balls. Lordy Lordy, some memories there.
Ronan raferty
Blimey, you have a long memory.
True story:
I once bumped bottoms with Ronan Rafferty and he immediately remarked "after you mate"
5pts if you can guess the context.
Channing barred from entering the competition, he might have been there when it happened.
pool or snooker?
My least successful quiz on Blondepoker, doubleup gets it's right first guess.
Tables 5 and 7 at Ascot Snooker club, he had a shot with the cue ball tight against the baulk cushion while I was below the reds playing a safety snicking off the pack of reds towards baulk.

Camel, that was a Sunday-suitable pedestrian quiz.
May we now expect a question on ursine defacation habits?

I must say after sharing such an intimate moment with Mr Rafferty I was rather disappointed not to have been invited to his wedding.

Rather than taking 2/9 first game of the season Chelsea I'd rather take a risk on Even money Chelsea win to Nil BetVictor
but for me, personally, game is a watching brief
More of a bet is Spurs 5/6 at Palace, if held at thread gunpoint....
Not putting it up though, lets see how Spurs are minus Bale, Holtby and Adebayor and with Paulin and Solda-dos

Sunday's singles tee-times (all BST, European players first)
12:40 Anna Nordqvist (Swe) v Stacy Lewis
Lewis is going to be pumped up here but at 4/6 it can't possibly be a bet as she has been poor albeit showing signs of improvement. Nordqvist is steady enough but not enough to give it a bet. 23/20 isn't the worst bet you'll ever see mind. Draw no bet.
12:50 Charley Hull (Eng) v Paula Creamer
If Charley Hull plays like she did yesterday afternoon 13/8 would seem like a gift against anyone. Creamer is a great competitor though and there are better bets.
13:00 Azahara Munoz (Spa) v Brittany Lang
Too close to call. Both playing well.
13:10 Carlota Ciganda (Spa) v Morgan Pressel
Pressel is 3-0 in singles and @ 4/6 against the improving but still pretty iffy Ciganda is a must bet. Pressel played well day 1 got dropped and hasn't quite been on it for her other 2 games. But she is a tiger.
13:20 Caroline Hedwall (Swe) v Michelle Wie
Cracking game. 21/20 for Wie is very tempting. Loves this cup and Hedwell has to start feeling it soon.
13:30 Catriona Matthew (Sco) v Gerina Piller
Matthew hasn't been at it. Couldn't back against her at 7/5 and wouldn't fancy her @ 4/6 either.
13:40 Suzann Pettersen (Nor) v Lizette Salas
8/13 about someone who says they aren't playing great, no thanks. Salas isn't good enough to want to back though.
13:50 Giulia Sergas (Ita) v Jessica Korda
Korda @ 8/11 has played pretty decent golf. Segas didn't impress.
14:00 Caroline Masson (Ger) v Lexi Thompson
23/20 for Masson who has played well against Thompson who is good with an iffy putting stroke. Great price.
14:10 Jodi Ewart (Eng) v Brittany Lincicome
Good game. 10/11 Lincicome almost appeals. If her singles record wasn't 1-2 i'd say it's bet.
14:20 Beatriz Recari (Spa) v Angela Stanford
Recari has played very well. Stanford has played very poor. 20/21 is a gift from god.
14:30 Karine Icher (Fra) v Cristie Kerr
Kerr has been poor. Record in singles 1-4-1. Her elbow is giving her grief. Icher has played well and is putting great. 13/10, somebody is on drugs ! Certainly haven't been watching much.
Pressel 4/6 Betfred
Korda 8/11 Betfred
Masson 23/20 Boylesport
Recari 20/21 Boylesport (nb)
Icher 13/10 Boylesport (nap)
All draw no bet.

Mr T.
Re bet sizing. I have been giving serious thought to upping the amount I suggest and I have decided that I will do so, but only for the bets that I am really confident that we have value on. Last weeks bet on Carney would have qualified for an increase but not today's as I am still unsure about the rain prospects.
As far as you betting more on my suggestions I am quite comfortable with that. You do after all RNA's in the biggest PLO8 tournaments that Vegas has to offer so can afford it. I do genuinely not want PM's thanking me as I know you are grateful and time is too short. Hidden messages and nuances in your daily posts are all it takes for me to get the drift, i.e
punished
the bookies.
What I try to avoid, by keeping things small, is the whole chasing losses syndrome where you are an amount down and see an odds on shot and think that one big bet will get you out of it. I learnt at an early age that that is no way to invest. It is also not as though we are trying to make money for anything in particular so maximising profit is not overly important. Certainly not as important as fun.
As far as tipping a losing bet, I am like Scotty. I analyse the bet and if I decide that it was a good bet and we were unlucky then a couple of hours is all it takes to get over it. If I decide the suggestion was bad then that really hurts, last year after a very bad tip I punished myself by staying off Blonde for 2 days.
In short my new max bet is £50 but it may be some time coming and if it loses then don't expect to see me on Blonde for a day or so.

Oh my, now THAT is how to preview the day, and present a recommend. Gives me NO excuses though.
Am feeling rather bullish today, and you have had a wonderful Solheim Cup, so I have rather pushed the boat out on those suggestions. Redarmi suggested we should push those edges.......
Details shortly.

Nice post Hector.
I like a little humility, when people put up a loser. If you post, you must be thinking people will follow, so a little post event synopsis of why/how it went wrong, goes down well with me. Understanding why a bet went wrong is just as important as why it was placed. Helps with the learning curve, in my opinion. Hate when people post tip and ignore that it lost, like it doesn't matter. May not bother anyone else, but just my thoughts.

A word of warning re. the Solheim Cup singles betting.
Europe could wrap the overall result up early as they only need three points and this could lead to premature concessions in the later matches.

For those that can bet on SkyBet, they are offering 5/1 on the tie in the last 3 golf matches, even though ladies are involved, there must be a better expectation than normal of ties in those matches.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Solheim_Cup
Catriona Matthew gained the winning point and the remaining matches were conceded with the winner being whoever was in the lead. The match between Laura Davies and Meg Mallon was level at the time and Davies won because Mallon offered to concede first
It can happen but i feel is less likely to now as it was years ago as the teams are more aware now and with all the rookies they'd want to gain experience.

I think this was debated at Ryder cup time. Given the history i posted above i wouldn't be rushing out to bet on draws low down the field.

Lovely stuff, thank you.
As I said, I've rather gone to town on these, even staked them according to strength (NB, Nap etc).
Think we'd be genuinely unlucky to do the lot, especially with DNB, & this might just give us a wonderful evening's fun at minimal risk, & a decent return. Or we could do the lot......
Which is my way of saying we have lumped £256 on......
So, the three regular bets.
Pressel, £30 @ 4/6, DNB, BetFred.
Korda, £33 @ 8/11, DNB, BetFred.
Masson, £30 @ 23/20, DNB, Boylesport
Then the NB.....
Recari, £63 @ 21/20, DNB, Boylesport
Then the NAP.....
Icher, £100 @ 13/10, DNB, Boylesport
EDIT - I had clean forgotten the point about early concessions, & our NAP (£100) goes out last. Hopefully, DNB saves us though, assuming that eventuality arises.
EDIT EDIT - Since I typed all this guff, it has been debated.

12:50 Charley Hull (Eng) v Paula Creamer
If Charley Hull plays like she did yesterday afternoon 13/8 would seem like a gift against anyone. Creamer is a great competitor though and there are better bets.
13:00 Azahara Munoz (Spa) v Brittany Lang
Too close to call. Both playing well.
13:10 Carlota Ciganda (Spa) v Morgan Pressel
Pressel is 3-0 in singles and @ 4/6 against the improving but still pretty iffy Ciganda is a must bet. Pressel played well day 1 got dropped and hasn't quite been on it for her other 2 games. But she is a tiger.
13:20 Caroline Hedwall (Swe) v Michelle Wie
Cracking game. 21/20 for Wie is very tempting. Loves this cup and Hedwell has to start feeling it soon.
13:30 Catriona Matthew (Sco) v Gerina Piller
Matthew hasn't been at it. Couldn't back against her at 7/5 and wouldn't fancy her @ 4/6 either.
13:40 Suzann Pettersen (Nor) v Lizette Salas
8/13 about someone who says they aren't playing great, no thanks. Salas isn't good enough to want to back though.
13:50 Giulia Sergas (Ita) v Jessica Korda
Korda @ 8/11 has played pretty decent golf. Segas didn't impress.
14:00 Caroline Masson (Ger) v Lexi Thompson
23/20 for Masson who has played well against Thompson who is good with an iffy putting stroke. Great price.
14:10 Jodi Ewart (Eng) v Brittany Lincicome
Good game. 10/11 Lincicome almost appeals. If her singles record wasn't 1-2 i'd say it's bet.
14:20 Beatriz Recari (Spa) v Angela Stanford
Recari has played very well. Stanford has played very poor. 20/21 is a gift from god.
14:30 Karine Icher (Fra) v Cristie Kerr
Kerr has been poor. Record in singles 1-4-1. Her elbow is giving her grief. Icher has played well and is putting great. 13/10, somebody is on drugs ! Certainly haven't been watching much.
Pressel 4/6 Betfred
Korda 8/11 Betfred
Masson 23/20 Boylesport
Recari 20/21 Boylesport (nb)
Icher 13/10 Boylesport (nap)
All draw no bet.
Sandy
