Paul Kelleway hasn't been with us for a good few years. He has a race named in his honour run at Lingfield, which Gay tries to win every year.

Blimey. I wish people would stop dying.

I just checked - he passed away in 1999!

I remember, clearly, him winning the Champion Hurdle on the great Bula, but it was as a trainer that he opened so many eyes, with Swiss Maid & Madam Gay.

He thought most of his geese were swans, but remarkably, many were.

But like Clive Brittain, reputations meant nothing to him, he'd run cheaply purchased horses in all the big races.

I was always slightly suspicious of how much horses improved when they went to him, but it may just have been that he shouted at therm. He really was a fiery character.

A rare foray into golf, for the BMW Chamionship - its a bit filty however I have been looking at various ways to get with Luuuuuuukkkee at the BMW this week.  I have had samm bet at 50/1 - all gone now.  The main basis of the interest is that he lives 5 mins away from the course, has been a member for 17 years and holds the course record with a 61.  Its not a long course, which suits him and the big bonus is its the first tournement played on it so most of the pros will not know the course.

I think the 11/2 Top Brit & Ireland ew 1/5 123 with ladbrokes is an absolute steal.  Its a little bit dirty - however surely this is the ideal opportunity to get back on track and there are doubts over a few of the other Brit runners; although I think its an automatic bet due to the course information.

Reccomend £50ew 11/2 Luke Donald - Top Bit & Irish finisher with Ladbrokes

Looks a great spot, on.
Also, 'Donald will donate $1000 per birdie and $2000 per eagle to a Chicago youth programme.'
He's doing it for charity. Niiiiiiiiiiice Smiley

Yes, you were a few days late - we were already on for almost precisely the reasons you suggest, thanks to Mr 2XUp.

We were slightly less balla though, just £5 EW @ 50/1.

He is now a pretty solid 40/1.

Tiger is 6/1 just about everywhere. If only we knew which Tiger would show up.  6/1 could look like stealing money, or burning money, come Sunday.

Same applies to Rory, generally a 22/1 shot. This time last year, who'd have thunk? We'd have bitten hands off for a bit of 22/1 Rory.

Note that Speith is now 28/1 best.

Jets +12 at 20/21 with Corals is not a bad bet. I'm not sure if I'd be strong on it.

Generally last year the syndicates bet under on Thursdays...the theory being that a shorter preparation time for the game makes offence not so dominant and points are lower. This effect is more prevalent later in the season though and it works way better in non-divisional games. Non-conference games are the best.

Obviously if we fancy a low scoring game then taking a 12 point favourite is great.

The stats for 10 point+ dogs are great but the stats for 8 point HOME dogs are WAY better.

I would never bet the Patriots here, not sure whether to bet the Jets, probably should.

You seem a bit undecided, Neil?

FWIW, I spotted this preview of the game on Betpal, when I was looking for Scott & Tighty's stuff.

  http://www.betpal.com/thursday-night-nfl-jets-at-the-patriots-betting-preview

Personally for me it wasn't strong enough to put on here. For a full service tipping column, trying to cover every televised night with a recommendation, it seemd a reasonable way of palying a game. If it is low scoring, all the better for +12

Don't know anything of the guy, but David John at the Sporting Life recommends getting on the Jets +12, and backing Julian Edelman anytime at evens too.

That is spooky.

The David John you mention, & Tighty, who wrote the article I linked to, will BOTH be on the same (very well known.....) TV Show NEXT Thursday evening, doing a Betting Preview of the NFL Season.

Also appearing will be Film Bore James Hartigan, who is a complete NFL nutcase, & a poker expert turned pro punter.

Careful now.....

Tighty explained yesterday that part of his remit is to find a selection on EVERY Televised game, hence his write up. I got the distinct impression, though, that he was only lukewarm in his enthuisiasm for the bet.  Neil C also commented on that bet, he seemed (the way I interpreted his Post) also to be a bit lukewarm.

It's a bit like the Tipsters in the Racing Post or whatever, they HAVE to give a selection in every race, which is a bit daft really.

I'll probably have a small interest, but more bubble-car sized than a bloody great truck.

Ha, I don't have any trucks myself nowadays, but I've bet for a sweat, and will just have to hope Mr Brady doesn't decide to put on a clinic.

I've only gotten into horse racing in the last 2 years, but at present I only really follow the people who put up a couple horses per day, or even per week. The hard part is not picking too many out myself when I'm watching the other races Grin

Daily Report

Profit on Month £978.56

Outstanding Bets £3025.90

Free bets remaining Two, one each Ladbrokes (use by 17th) and William Hill (use by 18th)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc#gid=29

A very small loss yesterday with one horse winner at Doncaster offset by three losers, though one finished second for a William Hill free bet

Doncaster is the St Leger meeting where we have three runners in the St Leger itself, Leading Light, Libertarian and Cap O'Rushes

In cricket yesterday every game was weather affected. Not the best day for Middlesex who yet again won the toss and bowled on a flat one. Testing playing cricket in September, for captains and betting sweats!

In baseball the Red Sox beat the Rays again. We can fire up the spready very soon on the AL East cover bet

In the wild card race things are hugely exciting (if anyone is reading this, bear with me)

The Royals beat the Indians last night and the Orioles lost again. So with 18 reg season games to go the picture looks as follows

Texas 81-64
Tampa Bay 78-66
-----------------
NY Yankees 78-66
Orioles 77-68
Indians 77-68
Royals 77-69

How close?

Of course the Rays are slipping, which brings with it spreadsheet pain but th Royals have a shot here

The thing about the MLB play offs is that once you are in, anyone has a chance. Its about who hits form at the right time. No different from the football play-offs over here, or the NFL play-offs
