Waiting for the boxing to start, and I just noticed that my new favourite name in cycling is taking the line in the Tour of Britain later today: Steele von Hoff.

From the same school as Nikki Nakhi and Assombalongawonga, Mr von Hoff is a sprinter (not a striker) by trade. In the Tour of Poland in August, he was very impressive in coming 2nd and 3rd in two of the flatter stages, and was incidentally 2nd to Mark Cavendish in a stage of the ToB last year (in addition to an earlier 4th). It should come as no surprise that Cavendish is favourite for tomorrow's opening day. Hopefully it won't be a repeat of last year's proceedings, where a crash marred the final sprint.

Von Hoff is currently trading at 22/1 on Bet365, who are paying 1/4 odds the place (1-2-3). 14s @ Paddy and 11s @ Buttermeup says this price is way out of line, and I suggest Fred follows me on at £10 e/w in backing the Hoff. Will need to get on early though. I'm ready for a Tonji rebuff.

Thanks Wetty.

I assume you are referring to Stage 1?

I'd certainly appreciate a view from Tonji, obviously, but as far as I can see, Bet365 are no longer offering the Market?

http://www.oddschecker.com/cycling/tour-of-britain/tour-of-britain-stage-1/winner

Best currently available is 14/1 with PP, others can get on, but they'll Restrict me. I can get on with BMU & WH, but they go 11/1 & 10/1 respectively, which is just half the recommended price, & so is not a goer.

I will have a look on Bet365 to see if I can find the Market though.

Monster write-up Tighty!

One little thing though - Villareal drew with RM.

Superb report, Tighty, thank you.

That Rogers bet was extraordinary, & we've probably been a shade unlucky in that it was TOO good, & so he got called up, but for which he walks it (or runs it....) for a cracking win.  Not QUITE dead yet, but no matter, we had a great bet there.

We shall draw a veil over that 6-2 defeat.....

More seriously, we spent a lot of money yesterday, on almost more bets in a day than we have ever had, & we ended up losing £38. You might be surprised to know I am absolutely fine with that. Variance & all that needs us to bet more to sustain our margins, & we'd be crackers to take any view from a single day.

Fun day, really enjoyed it.

Today could be interesting, too, with the Golf, & tonight's NFL.

I would not be surprised to see hector pop up with a bet today on at least one of these, either, rare that TV coverage of TWO games visit his parts of the country.

Plymouth Albion v Jersey must be a proper local derby in those parts.

That was a great draw for us. Shame about Bale & his tap-in though.

Dung,

None of these 20 or so named players to be the FIRST player to score in the premier league tomorrow.

I know this is many pages back, but per the rules of the market that isn't what it says.  I agree the price indicates it is none of the players to score first, but per market rules it is none of the 20 players to score AT ALL.  I'm wondering if they run this market every week.

No rebuff!

Not looked at the stage, just GC last night.

Always in with a shout opposing a short priced favourite in Cycling imo. Man of Steele von Hoff looks more than decent, especially with weather forecast, or Ciolek another option.

Same here, but the Post was 4am, & even I dont get up that early.

Having missed 22/1, 14/1 does not have quite the same appeal.

Afternoon Mr T.

Half an hour till this kicks off.

Plymouth Albion v Jersey. The pitch was played on yesterday and it is raining here and looks very gloomy. Last year both of their matches were low scoring and Hills price is OOL.

Suggest £24 under 43 points @ 5/6 with Hills.

Two of our Arc fancies run in tomorrow's trials.

Ocovango that was a bit speculative has been a bit disappointing since getting blocked in the Derby.  Think the bet looks dead at the minute, but if he can get close to Flintshire in the Prix Neil maybe we have some hope.  Maybe it is going to be heavy for the Arc and he slices through it ( straw clutching).  Maybe they'll go easy on Flintshire and we can get a good price tomorrow!

Orfevre has been aimed at the Arc all season.  He needs to win the Prix Foy to justify his price (currently just shy of evens).

OCOVANGA finished 3rd at 10/1, with Flintshire (favourite) unplaced.

Not dead yet.
