In the Darts, Pipe leads Chisnall 2 sets to 1, best of 9.

Chisnall won 5-2.

All doen to Taylor to rescue us now.

I never thought there would be a sportsman more boring than Chris Tavare.

But Justin Pipe has managed to wrest the title of most boring sportsman ever away from him.

There's a few snooker contenders for that crown.

And a thread of itself.

But there's an excuse for being a boring snooker player.

If you aren't as good at potting and break building as your opponent, tying him up with safety play is a legitimate tactic to try to gain the upper hand.

Slowing a game of darts down to a crawl is pure gamesmanship imo.

No reason for taking so long to throw 3 darts at a board, he is obviously doing it to try and put his opponents off.

Pretty sure this debate was had a while back on a thread

He has always thrown that slowly (still does in non tv events) so not sure how it can be gamesmanship

Priestley used to take 20 seconds

Should be a time limit, like there is in tennis.

10 seconds to throw 3 darts is plenty.

I don't even think he's that slow, but it is highlighted due to people like Van Gerwen throwing at 100mph.

What about his unique inability to do basic darting math. It's absolutely excruciating to watch him hit single 11 when on 74, then have to check what he has left, work out how to finish it, and then go through that slow throwing process.

That's possible.

I don't remember being irritated by Priestly. Possible that although he was slow, it was only a fraction slower than the opposition.

I do know as a casual darts viewer, I almost always switch off if Pipe is playing.

If it's juxtaposition you're after, here's Dennis "Yorkshire" Priestley playing in the 1993 Embassy against Lionel Richie:

Think that's most likely the case with the average player being quicker now than they were back along, but I definitely don't think he is any slower than Priestley in that video.

I really like Pipe, he's a consummate pro and always looks the part. Smartly dressed, conducts himself well and never seen him act out at all.

Then you see Wade bowl out looking like he's just coming off a 3 day bender, unshaven and looking like a scran bag!

Stands to reason when you have Taylor or MVG putting on a masterclass, you're not really interested in watching the plodders Smiley

Wade's head obv not right tonight. Taylor should know better than to act the way he did after the match.
