Can someone explain me how the whole thread works so I can follow and hopefully manage to place some bets?
Cheers,
George
Afternoon George, & thanks for the PM, I'm a bit behind with PM replies right now.
Glad you asked here as well, as I can reply here, & that will be useful for other Fred newcomers. Will reply a little later, bit busy right now.
Hope things are looking up at home, & great to hear from you.
I would appreciate an explanation from you as I always like that you break things down to as simple as possible. Even I can understand them this way.

Out of interest, why is everyone so grumpy today? Is Mercury in retrograde or something?

That's probably why I love you. <3
In today's world everyone seems to try make things more complex instead of doing the opposite..

Hi Aaron your post wasn't entirely missed. The CL groups are shaping up like this:
1st 2nd
man utd bayer lev
real madrid juve
psg olympiakos
bayern munich man city
chelsea shalke
arsenal napoli/dortmund
atletico mad zenit
barcelona milan
I'd be with you in taking Atletico in a match bet versus an English side, I fancy this Atletico side as much as any team outside of Bayern, Barca and Real. For a long time they choked versus the Spanish big 2 but that looks to of turned now. Last season they won the Copa Del Roy final against Real who had home advantage and they went unbeaten over 2 legs vs Barca in the Spanish Charity Shield.
Since they were handed an easy group draw they've had 2 very noteworthy results. A very one sided 1-0 win at Real Madrid who were allowed an unusually low amount of shots on goal and a 2-1 comeback at Porto without their 2 best outfield players in Diego Costa and Arda Turan.
There looks to still be a bit of legs in the price to me, perhaps the thread could weigh on it. There's also the question of when to get on it, with top spot already locked up the knockout stages aren't till February.
Coral go 18-1, the machine goes 18.5/19.5.
Thanks for the reply.
I have gone on at 17's, looks like I am going to have to top up with 18's now available.
But do you like 18's? I look at it as the price could go either up or down with regards to who they are drawn with in the knockout stages & only see them in for a tighter game of they are drawn with Man City or Dortmund, but it's a big ask for Dortmund at this point.
I wouldn't put you off but would be looking for more support to make it a thread bet.
I'm a long way off considering greening up on betfair.

For what its worth I tend to agree with Aaron on the Atl Madrid bet. They are MUCH better this year than last year and are probably as close as you will get to value in the CL this year. It is something I would be looking to trade though. I just think it is slight value in its own right.

For Fred bets, I need to finalise any of these by 6pm latest John.
Do we need to await Lord Tal's team news?

I have no team news at present.
Defoe needs one more to become our top European goalscorer. Think Adebayor might now be pushing trollies at the new Sainsbury's. Jan has said he doesn't like playing left back, so might find him at centre half tonight alongside Chiriches and Naughton on the left.
Would think Sig is a certain starter, maybe with Lamela on the other side.

So we are holding off for now, right?
PS - No idea who or what "jv" is. In my insular world that means Joint Venture.

Tonight we've an interest in Dnipro who tonight are at home to Ferreira of Portugal. Next time out it's another home tie to Pandurrii of Romania.
We've already beaten these sides away from home, 2 home wins will mean our bet to win the group will be live going into the last game of the group regardless of whether or not Fiorentina drop points away to those teams.

With Zeki Fryers fit and Kaboul needing a run, I think Vertonghen might be rested, actually. He has been nursing a knock.
Capoue should be back tonight, which will push Dembélé and/or Eriksen forward. We have had more shots than anyone in the Prem, someone told me yesterday, but also the lowest conversion rate of shots-goals. Dembélé and Eriksen are roughly the same price but Dembélé hasn't exactly been prolific.
Kaboul might take mid-long range free kicks and could be a threat at corners. 20/1 with the major companies.
