Was Sid already @ 50s or was it their reaction to your suggestion Chompster?!

Yuh, just saw Sid had cut them back to 40-1 from something. But was sure they were 40-1 about an hour ago? Very odd.

One time Pompey!

What odds to people make Ross Barkley to make England world cup side?
He's playing in a very impressive Everton side.
Lampard is ageing. Wilshere isnt number 1 on arsenals team sheet.

5/6 13/8 11/10 6/4 but with William Hill 2/1

Portsmouth are going to have to score close on two and a half points a game to win the league.  Nobody scores at that rate outside Scotland.

Given how hard the win part is, it is close to betting at 5/1 they are going to get 80 points or so that they'll likely need for 3rd.

I don't follow league 2 much anymore, but these bothl look like really big asks to me.  Sloping in to the play offs with 70 or so seems much more plausible.

But Doobs - nobody is pulling away.  The leaders all keep getting beaten.  Pompey are 17th, but they are only 12 points off first place.

The leaders have 34, so on that rate 82 points would be enough to win the league which is significantly lower than normal.  Swindon won the league easily a couple of years back from a worse position than this. (I think?)

Ok it probably won't happen, but seems a big price given the lay of the table?

Thanks Ex, interesting spot, but I'd want more than 2/1, I think.

Couldn't disagree with that tbf.

If they finish fourth through seventh they won't be any shorter than 2/1 for the play-offs.

40/1 the win and 10/1 the place about a top three finish probably better than the 11/2 given there's no standout at the top and they're all so compressed.

Change to...

£20 each-way, 40/1 general

£20 to get promoted at 11/2.

All is good in the TfT garden allotment

Marv.

This could rival the Tranmere fiasco, or even Southampton to be relegated & 'Pool bottom half.

It's now or never, we'll either look daft in a fortnight, or have 5 or 6 months of trememndous fun. These are the bets that we have to do now & then on Fred, let's go. Tighty can add this to his Long Term Reports, prepare for twice-weekly caustic rubs.

I had already taken £10  EW @ 40/1, Betfred, Portsmouth. Tiddlearsing rules, that's plenty. (horsey, I think?)

We have now added £20 @ 11/2, Corals, Pompey to be Promoted. (Chompster?)

Tighty - I'll update all the paperwork in the morning.

BETS PLACED

Ok it probably won't happen, but seems a big price given the lay of the table?

I can see all that, but it is very likely the teams will be much more separated at the end of the season?  I'd say it was much more likely there is 15 points between 1st and 8th than 5.  I do these kind of lazy projections all the time, but think projecting the top team's points to the end looks a bit flawed this time because of the close grouping.  I'd happily take the overs on 82 and think I was robbing you.  There are only 3 teams in England scoring at a rate now that would be good enough to catch 82 right now.  The management team would have to transform a team overnight into a team as dominant as Wolves or Arsenal just to get to 82.

But as you say it is 40/1, so it is maybe OK.  I don't think people should be piling in like they have spotted a big rick though.  Good luck, I almost piled in myself.

nobody has said 40/1 was/is a big rick

however going from a novice to a management with a proven good record enhances the chances to some degree, how much we will wait and see
