Adz don't deflect from your lack of weekend winners. We've all noticed Wink

!

Did text Tikay to ask him to make this another tiddlearse bet.

No matter, it was a lovely bet, & it got home in style.

I only saw the text this morning, as it happens. I turn the phone off at weekends these days as I get a bit of hassle, sorry.

Anyway, we got a nice win to wake up to.

* Barnsley drew at Leeds, a good point but much like Sheff U, we need wins, and quick. With Doncaster and Sheff W losing we are still in touch in the top South Yorkshire club bet, though its a bit like comparing which of three ugly gargoyles you prefer. You have to choose one, but its not easy!

Reading this analogy brought a chuckle to my Sunday morning.

I tried to take umbrage, I really did, but it's hard to argue against this, and I was too busy laughing at the time to get my head in the right frame of mind to do it!

Have to agree, a wonderful analogy.

Which one is Barnsley, though?

I think those are "grotesques" rather than gargoyles (that drain water from the roof through their mouths)

Carry on!

Ha, you are quite correct. I never knew that was their function.

4th Test Ashes Melbourne, Boxing Day

Swann's surprise retirement, Jonathan Trott's absence and the loss of the Ashes all point to the same conclusion: the foundations of England's success have crumbled and they have now entered a rebuilding phase. It is the end of an era, the beginnings of a team breaking up and getting older together.

It could well contain some very uncomfortable moments. One of those is likely to be the 4th Test, both in itself and in selection

Even before Swann ruled himself out of contention, Andy Flower was contemplating changes in batting, wicketkeeping and bowling. Any of Prior, Pieterson, Anderson etc could be in the last stages of their England careers too

Firstly, for our Broad bet the Swann news is good

Broad has 14 wickets, Anderson 7, Swann 7 then the rest

Will Broad play at Melbourne? I don't know but we probably need one more of the two tests from him to win that bet

The interesting point here is this market

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/ashes/australia-v-england-%5B4th-test%5D/top-england-bowler

Bear in mind this is another drop in pitch. Because Melbourne is used as an AFL ground most of the year, the cricket square is temporary

If it is anything like Adelaide, and it should be, it will be win the toss and bat, won't help English seamers and we'll be under it unless we win the toss, bat and perform.

The last Melbourne Ashes test helped the tall English bowlers, but drop in pitch technology has come on since, the pitches last longer

Anyway

Broad 5/2 and may not be fit? No value
Anderson 3/1 on a likely unsuitable pitch and 7 wickers in three games? No value
Bresnan 7/2 and just back from injury, basically a stock bowler? No value

Tremlett
Rankin
Finn

Are all around 4/1 and none guaranteed to play

which leaves the joint outsider of 8 front line bowlers (with Stokes)

Monty Panesar

He'll play. England need to play a spinner. He should be in the game on a good batting pitch. He'll have to bowl a lot of overs, given the form of the Australian top 6 who have scored over 700 more runs than the English top 6

We need an 888 account to do it but in the likely playing conditions 5/1 Top English bowler is too generous. For this bet ideally Aus would win the toss again and bat.

9/2 Ladbrokes is the most likely available price where tikay has an account, but I'd rather 5/1 for a bet here

Fred's customary BAMPS (Big Adz Massive Price Special) was conspicuously lacking this weekend.

Morning Mr T.

Today's union match is a local derby, Gloucester hosting Worcester. Played on a wet, heavy pitch in the cold it should be low scoring. Add in the fact that the best team, Gloucester, have benched their creative fly half, moved a centre to fly half and bought in the aged royal barn door Tindall to play at centre, then low points is the play.

Suggest £24 under 37.5 points with betvictor.

How much do you want on, Tighty?

I notice that it says 'Top Bowler/Wicket Taker 1st Innings', is it not over the whole match?

Its first innings only (would be a much bigger play if whole match)

Its only a £20 or so value bet. Depnds what tikay thinks

I've chucked £20 on, if he doesn't want it I'll take it.
