Talking of Kempton Park on Boxing Day, & the King George.......

I am based around 4 miles from Kemnpton Park (2 miles as the crow flies) & the overnight rain has been constant & torrential.

Many of the local roads are closed due to flooding, with huge amounts of standing water everywhere.

The going on Thursday might be on the soft side of good.

So we need some soft ground specialists for Boxing Day please.

I think they all go on the heavy barring Cue Card.  Of course I have only backed one.

Bet rec for next weekends NFL Tony.

Have 105 or 150 quid on Philly -3 v Dallas with Laddies at 20/21, don't be slow tho.

Hi Phil,

This market has still not gone back up, they are just quoting a few Markets, but not Point Spread.

http://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl/philadelphia-eagles-at-dallas-cowboys/winner

I'd be surprised if any of those were lucrative.

The point was that the Dallas Cowboys Quarterback, Tony Romo, suffered a back injury at the end of the game on Sunday and is now out of this weekend's game. After Philadelphia put up 51 points the other day, Dallas needs to score a few to be a handicap bet. 3 points without their star man would be a lot to ask.

I don't know who will play in his place. Maybe Kyle Orton? He has attempted five passes this season and hasn't started a game since 2011.

Maybe one to ask our blondeBowl-ring-wearing Dallas correspondent about.

Quite so, I was kicking myself last night for missing it, but it can't be helped.

TIM SHERWOOD APPOINTED HEAD COACH

Posted by Tottenham Hotspur on 23 December 2013  - 20:55

Following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas, the Club can announce that Tim Sherwood has been appointed Head Coach with a contract to the end of the 2014/15 season.

Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: "We were extremely reluctant to make a change mid-season, but felt we had to do so in the Club's best interests.

"We have a great squad and we owe them a Head Coach who will bring out the best in them and allow them to flourish and enjoy a strong, exciting finish to the season.

"We are in the fortunate position of having within our Club a talented coach in Tim Sherwood.

"We believe Tim has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward."

Chris Ramsey, Les Ferdinand and Steffen Freund complete the First Team Coaching set up.

Can't say I'm in Dick van Dyke heel clipping mode just yet, especially after yesterday's nerve jangler. Think Citeh would have put six past us yesterday. I can only assume Levy has a plan for the summer...

Is this serious, Tal?

I'm staggered if it is true, but good luck to the fella.

That's some brave move by Mr Levy, if he truly wants Spurs to become a top 4 side.

103.68 average from Jackpot. We like this. Near miss from VDV with 99.6. Probably too little too late for the average bet but confirms that Lewis is in fine fettle and the best player in the tournament. Should be favourite.

Thanks Bazza.

The World Darts have been a bit uphill for Fred so far, but at least we have a nice saver on Lewis.

Appreciate the updates.

It is indeed serious. What's realistic? Top six? All rather different in expectations now.

It (the appointment of TS as Spurs manager) just seemed to sort of send a coded message - "we are no longer aiming for the moon".

In the summer, they seemed to be serious, spending all the Bale money & more to really make a dash for a top 4 spot. And now, they have appointed someone who, with respect, does not have much of a pedigree at this level.

Anyway, I hope it works out. It's good for football when teams like Spurs are worthy opponents of the top clubs like Arsenal.

Daily Report

Profit on the Month £676.77

Outstanding Bets £2964.54

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=33

A profit of £50.01 yesterday due to expert in play Bet365 offer trading of last night's bore draw, with the pre-match bet losing but the Draw at 21-10 coming in (in truth hardly in doubt all match) for £100.01

Last night's point takes Arsenal to Xmas 2nd, but five clubs are seperated by two points at the top. We have them to finish top three for the season

The Philadelphia Eagles position for the winner takes all game this weekend was strengthened when the opposing quarterback Romo was diagnosed with a herniated disc which most likely will cause him to miss the game this weekend. The 49ers made the playoffs last night and it could be that the Eagles host the 49ers in the wild card round

Not sure I will do an update tomorrow, probably back after boxing day which with a full football programme will see progress, or otherwise, in our long term positions

Happy Christmas all tipsters on here.

ONE TO KEEP AN EYE ON

PP are currently offering 9/1 on Newcastle without the big 6, Everton are the huge favourites with IMO only Newcastle as a realistic challenger, so in effect its a 2 horse race
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/w-o-big-6

Although I do think 9-1 is good value and worth a small season sweat bet, I think it should be looked at again mid January.

Evertons next 5 games are all winable and should extend to their 4 point lead over Newcastle

Everton V Sunderland
   Thu 26 Dec    15:00
   Premier League
Everton V Southampton
   Sun 29 Dec    13:30
Premier League
Stoke V Everton
   Wed 1 Jan    15:00
   Premier League
Everton V Norwich
   Sat 11 Jan    15:00
   Premier League
West Brom V Everton
   Mon 20 Jan    20:00
   Premier League

Newcastles next 5 games

Premier League

Newcastle V Stoke
   Thu 26 Dec    15:00
   Premier League
Newcastle V Arsenal
   Sun 29 Dec    13:30
   Premier League
West Brom V Newcastle
   Wed 1 Jan    15:00
   Premier League
Newcastle V Man City
   Sun 12 Jan    14:05
   Premier League
West Ham V Newcastle
   Sat 18 Jan    15:00

at the end of this period I would expect Everton to open a 8+ point lead and Newcastles odds should drift to in the region of 12/1 to 16/1 (maybe more)

However, Newcastle then go on a long run of winable games (with the odd exception) and Everton have a run of  tougher games, and I would expect Newcastle to close the gap some what. Everton also have a very tough final 4 games.    2 away games at relegation contenders Hull and an impressive Southampton, and both Manchester clubs at home.

I'm not being a delusional footie fan, I don't actually think Newcastle will finish above Everton but there is a reasonable chance and 9/1 is value and worth a small punt maybe a tenner or a score, but definitely worth another look at come mid January where the value may well increase significantly.

Thanks Geordie.

We do have a position on Newcastle already actually, on the Handicap, but that's an interesting angle you've highlighted.

We'll keep an eye on it, yes.

We do get updated on Newcastle's progress every time they win, as it happens, young Plinop is uaually quick off the mark after a Toon win.

Ha!

Bugger, but these things can't be helped, & our little loss is nothing measured against whatever presumably ails Dwaine.

These things happen, no worries, next case.

Should be a money back job. By the sounds of it he's sacking off the whole tournament.

At least we have the Hales sweat. No games til boxing day now.
