That's a quiz in itself, Tikay's grumpy friend? I can think of three straight off.

The reason I knew Tikay would get it is because the guy plays for Fulham but is on loan at Port Vale. He has just asked Fulham for permission to play on the weekend. He is the brilliantly named Mr Jack Grimmer.

I imagine many of the Fred regulars are too young to remember, but Jeffrey's column in the Spectator was one of the weekly highlights back in the day, & was the main reason I subscribed to The Spectator. Wiki describes his column as.....


Jeffrey Bernard is perhaps best remembered for his notorious ‘Low Life’ column, recounting tales of a debauched and insalubrious life spent largely in the vicinity of the Coach and Horses pub in Soho, London.
