Final opportunity for a winner in Sochi.

Saturday is the men's slalom.

http://www.oddschecker.com/winter-olympics/alpine-skiing/olympic-alpine-skiing-mens-slalom/winner

This World Cup season has been a three way battle between Hirscher, Kristofferson & Neureuther.

Hirscher, Austrian favourite, but not quite as unbeatable as previous years. WC results: 1, DNQ, 2, 1, 3, 23, 2.

Kristofferson, young Norwegian. Future star. WC results: 3, 14, 7, 3, 15, 2, 1.

Felix Neureuther. German star. WC results: 27, 10 1, DNF, 2, 1, 3.

I'm looking at getting behind Felix. Last week on his trip to the airport for his flight to Sochi his car was in a crash & he suffered whiplash injuries. However he competed in the GS on wednesday & finished 8th, about average for him. Reports in the German press are positive, that he's recovered & went well in training today. A slalom specialist who this season normally starts around 3/1 - 7/4 with the bookies. 5/1 available & a couple of points of value.

Crystal Palace v Manchester United

The late game is an interesting one with Crystal Palace extremely solid at home under Pulis though of course a lot of narrow wins have been achieved against bottom ten sides. Tom Ince and Joe Ledley look excellent signings and with Manchester United having only won two Premier League games in 2014 we have to at least consider backing Crystal Palace at a whopping 11/2 for this game.

Manchester United also have a Champions League clash in Greece against Olympiacos on Tuesday night to consider and team selection may be influenced by that. Which is the more important game for Manchester United? Europe, possibly the only route back into the Champions League this season, or the league game, with United in seventh well adrift of the top four? I am not sure, but won't be rushing into Manchester United at 8/13.

Lets take a speculative view on Crystal Palace at 11/2 with BetVictor

Looks good to me.  <3 Palace.  We need to get that 100/1handicap bet home.

Ireland v England Six Nations

Ireland go to Twickenham leading the Championship after successive home wins aainst Scotland and Wales. In these games they showed a simple game plan, ruthlessly executed based off forward power and Sexton's kicking game. Both of these factors could be crucial at Twickenham and the kicking game in particular could provide an edge. England's inexperienced wingers will be tested and they have suffered a crucial injury up front

Prop Dan Cole ruled out with a bulging disc in his neck. He has featured in 22 games for England since the start of 2012 and started in 21 of them. David Wilson who replaces him is coming back from injuury himself, and has started in 7 of his 31 appearances, with all 3 starts under Lancaster coming against Argentina. The English scrum struggled against France and if they struggle here it will be a real task to beat the Irish pack and secure quality ball

Ireland have a huge edge in experience in this game. In the English side only Hartley,Wilson and Care have over 28 caps.

Looking back to all Six Nations games since 2004, Ireland have won 21/26 matches in the competition when O'Driscoll, O'Connell and D'Arcy the experience and in the first two cases class of the team, have started and that drops to 12/26 when 1 or more of them were missing.

I feel that Ireland 7/4 outright AND/OR +5 on the Handicap with BetVictor is the Rugby bet of the weekend. England at 1/2 outright is a very very short price, and should be opposed

Ireland unchanged

Still really fancy this.

Not so much the iron was hot, but his laddering skills certainly were in top form

excellent article on Magath a lot more balanced than a lot of the pundits who had probably never heard of him before this week.
