Only other one I quite like at a big price is Bill Haas.

Always seems to be there or thereabouts at Augusta despite being a slightly shorter hitter. Will see what comes about in a couple of weeks time.

**Ignore Wooodland for now of course, I stupidly bet him yesterday forgetting to check Betfair before being prompted.

Bill Haas has played the Masters four times and yet to have a higher finish than tied 20th and has never shot a round in the 60s there. He's a cut making machine but doesn't strike me as the type to compete at Augusta tbh.

Defoe scored twice in the first 24 minutes of his Toronto debut.

Think Spurs could do with a player like that?  Ever thought of signing him?

This was the other night, yeah. I hope he scores the winning goal in the world cup final.

Masters

Pleased to see old Fred friend Brandt S hitting form at a good time.

Played the Masters six times and made the cut 5 times with a best of third and also a 6th under his belt.

Defo a birdie machine when on it, and very much a streak player. I like potential Masters winners as those that have been in the mix before. Ticks lots of boxes as he gets back on his game.

Good credentials at 50s I reckon

At least you don't get any more Thursday night Tal madness. This season.

Did mention this yesterday, but this needs to be recorded as a losing bet:

I have heard back from my top secret - TOP SECRET - consultant and haven't been put off, although I'll happily accept responsibility for the abuse if this one falls flat. Only the abuse, mind...

The second Deputy Governor spot in the Monetary Policy Committee gets announced soon. Pressure is building on the Government to appoint a woman to the all-male committee, whose job it is to set interest rates. Even the Governor himself (Mark Carney, not Paul Ince) has commented that there is something of a 'Gentlemen's Club' feel to it. There are actually few candidates who would be suitable, were the decision to be taken that a woman should be chosen. The 5/4 jolly has a Y chromosome, so let's count him out.

Margaret Hogg is 4/1 and the favourite woman. She was Carney's first appointment at the Bank of England as Chief Operating Officer and is his eyes and ears at the Bank. She also is the daughter of a Tory politician of note (think cleaning out moats...) and a Baroness. The Bank of England only has one woman at its top table and appointing her to a different senior position would create a headache for the Bank. I'm thinking no.

There is also Lucrezia Reichlin. She has a very impressive CV, including pioneering economic work and working with the European Central Bank. She specialises in monetary policy. 10/1. I think the only barrier for her would be she is the daughter of Alfonso Reichlin, the prominent Italian communist (wiki tells me, although my Italian isn't all that good). It seems kind of bizarre to say that she'll be fodder for the tabloids if she gets the job, as it would have been said already, plus she's not all that important for the red top rags. She currently is a professor at the London School of Economics.

Sheila Dow and others used to advise the Treasury Select Committe when it was a Labour government. Seems unlikely to me that George Osborne would do something with even the remotest chance of pleasing Ed Balls.

I want to recommend a gambler's bet on Reichlin at 10/1 with the green, Irish bookmaker that rhymes with Daddy Flower. £10?

Thanks Tal Bloke.

Mr Rhymes with Daddy Flower allowed Fred.........£1.24.

I had a considerable dwell up before investing the tiddlearse of all tiddlearses, but decided to get on anyway, as we'd certainly pick up a £12 note if we saw it blowing down the street.

If anyone can get another £8 or £10 on for Fred, please let me know.

For now.....

£1.24 @ 10/1, Paddy Power, Ms Reichlin.

Do we know when this matter will occur?

BET PLACED

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/bank-of-england/10704883/Ben-Broadbent-to-replace-Charlie-Bean-as-deputy-governor-as-woman-joins-MPC.html

£1.24 down the drain, I'm afraid.

Usual darts draw bets on the closest two games of the night.  Both with unibet/888sport at 9/2. should be around 7/2 from our previous analysis.  Chis Whit is a closer game on paper therefore justifies a bigger bet at the same price as Thorn lewis.

Chis v Whit Draw 9/2 £50 win
Thorn v Lewis Draw 9/2 £30 win

Wright v Barney is currently 4/1 with all firms £30 win if any firms go 9/2 then £50 win.

Pretty good!
