Speak up now, or forever hold your peace.......

Some folks very kindly put various bets on for Fred in March, & I want to settle up today, as it is the last day of the month.

If only I could remember who they were, & how much I owe.......

These names spring to mind.....

Lisa (sonour), I deffo owe money to.

Markey Degen Marky. I'm generally in debt to him.

Tighty (£10 with £3.65 or PP for something?).

Nick Jenkins, maybe?

Chompy

Anyone else?

Please drop me a PM with reminders, & Bank Details where necessary, & I'll settle up.

Also, all those who owe money to ME for winning bets, pay up.*

* If only there were any.

PAID Tighty £10.

Had a look at SPOTY from 2012, and Farah didn't even podium after the Olympics, but 25/1 is tempting...

2013 was a landslide, with Murray having 55% of the votes, and more than the rest of the top 10 put together.

Giggs has won it, so anything is possible, but even I won't be going near Gerrard at 10/1.

Tikay, you only owe me a tenner, so if you don't mind we may as well run it until it's worth squaring up?

I've got a tenner on Nalaga for you @ 10/1, I think it is, and a fiver on Vorda for the 1000 Guineas at 33/1.

I'll check when I am in the office, and confirm.

I take it you've already got the shirts in you intended to flog outside the stadiums in Brazil then, Dung?

It's a never ending corrosion of sporting tradition.  Putting the England sloggers in orange is one thing, but banning the argentines black shorts?  Alonso will be driving a royal blue Ferrari soon, mark my words.

I reckon you'd already loaded up on replicas to flog out in Brazil, so are mad that you've knocked it in, and need to restock before heading out Smiley

Don't you worry.  I've just added the word "Retro" to the canopy for my stall.  I am still fully confident of being able to shift all 12,000 pairs of red cameroonian shorts.

Ashley Giles might be about to lose to Holland.  Imagine that will be a downer for his attempts to take charge of the Test team?

On the SPOTY bets.  Think Gerrard is short enough there.  Think of it as a double.  Liverpool to win the league and then Gerrard to be considered important enough if they do.  Realistically they are probably 9/4 shots to win the league so if they won the league he would have to be a 2/1 shot maximum for the bet to represent value.  I know Scousers are a sentimental lot and might vote en masse but I am not sure he is even that good right now. To my mind it would have to be like when Giggs won it and I couldn't have backed him with counterfeit.  Similarly Farah is going to have to win the marathon.  He is a 5-1 shot to do so which, frankly, I am not sure is particularly great value.  It is his first marathon and in his prep half marathon in NY he fell and then collapsed after the line.  He is a quality elite athlete so I wouldn't put it past him to recover and win this but I couldn't back him at single figures but even if we assume the 5/1 is the "right" price he would have to be a 3/1 shot to win SPOTY after winning which again seems short.  He might trade at that price immediately after the race but I would bet long odds on he would drift and I would much rather take 7/1+ in October.  It also strikes me as something that people would think was "nice" rather than an outstanding achievement worthy of SPOTY votes.  All that said it is likely a weak year and one of them could win it I just don't think they are value to do it.

On another note there has been a lot of recent talk about Premiership football markets and whether the market effectively get it right all the time (which I don't think they do).  There is some excellent resources and writers out there at the moment that can give you an edge especially in analytics.  I read this article on the excellent Stats Bomb site this morning http://www.statsbomb.com/2014/03/who-do-you-think-will-win-the-epl/ and guys like the author Colin Trainor are thinking on a level way above your average odds compiler and punter.  I wouldn't bet his model outputs blind but it is certainly the kind of thing worth listening to and factoring into your opinions to give you an edge.

Good time to bring on Pietersen

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots
