I know that one day Isai Scheinberg was reading a poker magazine (a few years ago) and he noticed there were twice as many Full Tilt patches as Stars patches on a page where there were 20 small photos of different faces at an event. All the Tilt pros were wearing hats.

The next day all Stars pros got a memo telling them it was now compulsory to wear a hat at all events.

I think the Monte Carlo EPT final in 2008 was the start of that policy.

Overall profit on the Masters is £233. Not what it looked like it could be at 8.30pm tonight, but a good week

full report tomorrow

well done everyone

Very pleased with that, good work by everyone.

What a sweat we had, too. Right result, no complaints.

Tremendous drama, best night's sport I've seen in a long time.

Idiot question...

Is it compulsory to wear a hat in international golf?

Only if you're being paid to sport a logo or have an EvilPie hairdo.

I can't remember the last golfist not to sport headwear.

Nice to see Dan Akroyd back on TV, too, even if I don't get the golf connection.

The hat sponsorship $$$$ are ludicrous! Even if you looked terrible beyond belief in a hat (like i do) you would wear one with the highest paying logo on it.

Reminds me of a classic Chief Wiggum quote:

"Papa bear, put out an APB for a male suspect driving a...car, heading In the direction of...y'know, that place that sells chili. Suspect is hatless, repeat hatless"

Thread still has 100/1 for the Open.  Got away in the end, all the originals were win only, but the top yank wasn't, and backed 4 of the 5 placed golfers too.  Though end result was a zero less than it would have been.  aftertiming Easy game

Horsie, check your Bet365 account.
I was like you and thought I hadn't backed him all that time ago coz I couldn't find the bet in history. But your bet history only goes back 6 months and it was obviously more than 6 months ago it was recommended.
But I just checked my Bet365 account and it has ~262 euro more so I guess I had 15 eway @ 66/1(?)
I thought I only had 5 euro eway on the top US player @ 25/1 on Betfair so I'm quite pleased.  aftertiming

Lol, I just noticed the 'aftertiming' emoticon is called bigadz!

Can someone remind me of the firms that were 66's Boyles when the rec was put up

Have a sickening feeling i thought id backed Speith but cant find the bet

cheers

Fred are on with Boyles, placed 23rd September.

So sweet taking money from those irish jokers now you can't get a bet on with them.

Ha, well it could have been better, but £350 for £40 is not so bad.

Fred still has 3 or 4 other decent bets on the Account there, including the Suarez Bet, which is £20 EW @ 20/1, Vokes for Championship Top Scorer (£10 EW @ 20/1), & (non-Fred) Treve for the Arc, £100 @ 4/1.

So we are not quite done with them yet. Wink

Well done on the recommend Doobs, hit the woodwork with the free bet I had on (could have finally put that debate to bed) but had him eachway at 66 and 50's so not a bad day at the office. Certainly no harm following the lad when the price is right.

Just a word about Bubba, I honestly thought Kuchar would scoop the lot at the beginning of the round. Bubba became a bit of a machine on the back nine. You could see in his eyes he was determined to close the tournament out. Really pleased for him, if Speith didn't win my heart wanted Bubba over the rest, if not for anything else other than his name, Gerry Lester "Bubba" Watson Jnr.

Recommend £30 on Benoit Paire to beat Albert Montanes in the Monte Carlo masters today at 5/6

Paire beat Montanes last week at Casablanca on a similar surface.  During that match Paire shaded many of the crucial stats

Won 47% against Montanes 2nd serve (verses 40%)
Created 7 break points verses 5.
Won 35% of return points verses 31%

Small margins indeed, but enough to suggest Paire should be favourite, as opposed to the bookies being unable to split them.

Daily Report

Profit on Month £270.82

Outstanding Bets £3542.14

Free bets to use ONE William Hill by 19th April and £55 Betfred

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=23

A profit of £221 yesterday

Running through the Masters first

- Jordan Spieth runner up e/w at 66/1 for £310 profit
- Jordan Spieth runner up top US at 25/1 for £52.50
- Fred Couples top 20 at 5/1 for £100 (settled in full though it was a five way tie for 20th)
- Poulter beating Streelman in their two ball by 5 shots for £40
- Winner a former winner at 3/1 for £225

offset by

- the two bets on a new masters winner -£210
- fred couples top senior -£40
- Fowler -£40 (finished 5th)
- Fowler losing to Jimenez by two shots in the 4th round - £40
- Fowler/Poulter double -£20
- Snedeker -£10
- Woodland -£10
- Scott, free bet, closed

Accounting for missed cut losses the thread made a profit of £233 on the Masters.

Of course this might have been a lot better. Speith was two clear heading to the eighth, Couples was two clear of Jimenez heading to the back nine, Fowler finished a shot off an each way return, for example so once again we have the sound of cross-bars being rattled

Also yesterday there was a £132.50 loss on the London Marathon. In the extensive research on East African elite athletes, we ended up short Kenya, long Ethiopia and had 3rd each way at 3-1 as all to show for it

Moving on to longer term positions

* Liverpool's 3-2 victory over Man C, whilst pulsating and exciting was a horrible result. We have a £195 lay that now looms large ahead of Liverpool playing Chelsea

After that brilliant game, sitting in front of Chelsea, and hoping they would not beat Swansea for the Arsenal top three bet, was like returning home to a wicked step-mother after a night on the tiles with two supermodels

* The Arsenal top three bet hangs by a thread, and we also have £100 Arsenal to win the title too. That is gone if Arsenal do not beat West Ham tomorrow

* In Serie A Napoli won 4-2 and Fiorentina 5-3. With 5 games to go Napoli in 3rd are 9 points clear of Fiorentina in 4th. We have £10 each way on Napoli, good, but £80 on Fiorentina top 3. Oh. Staking plan issues!

* On Saturday night Bale scored again. He now has 14 in La Liga with 5 games to go. We need under 18. Reckon we must be underdogs now

So putting all that lot together proves that there are some headwinds ahead, inevitable in April/May when a lot of football ante-post is settled

* In baseball the Royals and Orioles lost last night and the Yankees won again. Moving swiftly on...

* In cricket our Division two bowler Tim Groenewald took 5-44 and a hat-trick as Derbyshire rattled Essex out for under 100 at Chelmsford, a good start for both bets. Madsen scored 30 in reply

* Our Warwickshire player Laurie Evans scored 4 on his season debut. As his team was dismissed for 87 though, not too much harm done
