The draft is an interesting concept. The players must feel really odd, working so hard during their youth just to be picked by the worst team.

Just think, if it was done in the Premiership, Spurs could have Messi and Ronaldo and Bale......

And you still wouldn't win anything

I know very little about american sport, but have always found this odd way to go about things.  Doesnt it promote the excat reaction from these up and comers!?  They work hard, not fussed who they play for as they get a huge pay packet. After 2/3/4 years move to the bigger clubs?!

Also the fact that the worst get the best doesnt it mean over time every club in the end will bave a decent chance of the superbowlat some point, and that the dominant team no matter will start to fail!?

Not sure what to think about that, gut feeling i dont like it as it takes that unknown quality away from the sport

The main problem seems to be the people making the picks. Sometimes, you get a head coach/General Manager/Owner who has a bizarre idea of what is best for the team and it all ends in tears.

Washington Redskins gambled on a quarterback called Robert Griffin III and traded a LOT for him with the team who had an early pick: the St Louis Rams. The result has been the Rams have been able to bring in a number of young, talented players to build a squad with and the Redskins have an injured, petulant QB and no first round pick last night.

sonour do you know if WHM offer is on for the 14:45 at chester tomorrow and what other races?

Hillstar is 7/4 in a 5 hour race looks good to have money back if second

Will be  four races from Chester, which start at 1.45, 2.15, 2.45 and 3.15

Good spot.

Unfortunately only 4 runners now.

Does that invalidate the offer?

Your horse will be subject to a Rule 4 deduction based on the price of the horse that was withdrawn. You'll probably get about evens.

Daily Report

Loss on Month £434.44

Outstanding Bets £2701.01

Free bets £20 William Hill, £25 Betfred. note the William hill free bet appeared as of yesterday. lets use this one!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=24

A profit of £44 yesterday, with Taylor/Wright drawing at 9/2 in the darts the major reason, and taking the two darts losses into account a profit of £75 on the night

In the NFL draft Clowney was selected first, went off 1/4 bet at evens for a £75 profit.

Donald was the first DT, for £24 profit. A real shame we couldn't get more on at 11/10, went off 1/6 and was the first DT picked by 20 spots. Such is the strength of the Rams DL now, to go along with Seattle, Arizona and the 49ers that the NFC West has been declared illegal in 17 states. Brutal division

the number one pick savers Robinson and Mack lost for £30, three QBs selected -£40 (the slide of Manziel into the 20s meant there was no scramble at the end of the round) and Gilbert went three places ahead of Fuller, and the two CB bets lost -£60.

Perhaps we over-traded the draft a little, the two obvious mis-pricings were the first two bets placed Clowney and Donald and the game theory of analysing who goes where is never easy. This time round Buffalo trading to Cleveland at 4 threw things off kilter. I didn't have them pegged for a cornerback!. Anyway...

In long term stuff

In the Madrid open 10th seed nishikori beat 8th seed raonic 7-6 7-6 in the third round. he is 9/1 third favourite behind Nadal and Ferrer

In the NBA the Spurs went 2-0 up in their series beating Portland 117-94, the Heat beat the nets 94-82 to go 2-0 up too

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan defending 134 with 4-14 from Kumar to climb to fifth in the points table with a game in hand on 4th. 4 make the play-offs

In the MLB The Baltimore Orioles won again, and the Royals lost

In the TPC at Sawgrass Angel Banzai is T29 after a first round 70, 7  shots behind Kaymer who broke the course record
