England - ENG Who Will Start In Goal For Englands First World Cup Match - Outright
Joe Hart1/8
Fraser Forster10/1
Ben Foster16/1
John Ruddy20/1
Any Other Goalkeeper33/1
Currently available at VC. Redarmi said to me this afternoon 'Surely hart is value with coral at 1/20 to start the first game?' Would suggest we probably have £160 on this at 1/8. Does he really only start the first match 89% of the time? Does he get injured 11% of the time in the next 3 weeks.
Agree. Nearest thing there is to buying money. If this market was available with 'the exchanges', any 1.12 would be smashed to smithereens, and you obv don't have to pay comm with BMU. Suggest trying to get £800 to win £100, then crossing fingers that Hart doesn't choke on a pretzel flying over.
There actually is a Will Joe Hart Start 1st Game market on Betfair. Grand total of €5 matched. At 1.05.

I dunno - I've seen Joe Hart in those Head & Shoulders adverts and that stuff can really sting if it gets in your eyes.

I'm not sure how it works in the UK but this market is for 'most votes'. Might the Cons have an advantage in that they will run a candidate in every constituency, whereas UKIP might not? So the Cons could get less seats but more votes?
don't think so. The constituencies are massive regions so should be the same number of candidates.
20/1 with coral and Stan beats an admittedly shallow betfair market.

Not a dig at anyone, feel like i have to say this as its bugging me, 800 to win 100, do we really need the 100 that much? Just feels wrong to me to be backing that, i know people will probably say value is value, it beats bf etc and its not my money so i probably shouldnt say anything. But i just want to bring a bit of balance to the discussion seeing as a few have backed the proposal, Anything could happen in the next few weeks. Anyway just voicing a concern, ignore if need be.

Totally fair concern, Ommy.
Value is value, but for many of us, it makes no sense unless we have the sort of bankroll to make a sensible bet.
For Fred, with a notional £3,000 'roll, £800 to win £100 or £300 to win £37 is not a bet in a million years, but for those with bigger bankrolls, it makes perfect sense.

fred backed a 1/8 shot 2 months ago. Liverpool not to win the league. Exactly the same as this. albeit this 1/8 shot is much better value and should have a larger stake therefore.

Well yes, each to their own, and that's fine. I wish them well with it, too.
Fred exists for the purposes of having a bit of fun, making a bit of money along the way, and hopefully learning from those who know better than us. Don't think we'll be backing too many 1/8 shots, but that does not mean others should not.

Exactly this.
Effectively we are laying 8/1 the field bar Joe Hart, it's like we are playing bookie and bmu is punting.
Def know the side I prefer.
If risking £800 seems too much then you just reduce your stake.
Don't get the problem in backing short prices.
It really is as simple as saying value is value.

If the issue is "how much we are set to lose" just bet smaller.
Why not bet £200-£100 or what you feel comfortable, the winnings will return just the same "ROI" and your more within the bankroll. As a punter and someone who likes a sweat its not a fun bet but its a bet thats going to make me money so ill just bet what i am comfortable with losing if he gets injured!

Unforts doesn't really matter anymore about this bet specifically as bmu seem to have pulled it.
