This man played his 88th and almost certainly last Subway Series game, as the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets.

The score was 1-0 to the Yankees, the first time that scoreline has happened in the history of the fixture. For those unfamiliar with the machinations of baseball, the two teams are in different leagues (like American football, the teams are split into two halves and then into divisions. The leagues - American and National - have slightly different rules, so they play by the home team's rules whenever they are rotad to play each other).

The Mets sportingly presented him with his jersey number made of subway tiles, as a mark of respect. Could you see spurs doing that when Wenger leaves?! There was also a $222,222 donation to his charitable foundation.

Derek Jeter, ladies and gentlemen.

Tbh, when I first typed the post, I was going to say Ledley King not getting that from arsenal, but then thought it would look like I was having another dig, so switched it around.

Fair enough, chaps. Assumed he'd have drifted after the first five weeks

Sorry, just assumed you meant when it started when you said February.  Didn't realise you were talking about March.

Only messing.  I had just assumed you were talking about right at the start, and hadn't remembered he had started so badly.  You just gave me a get out with the 5 matches.

Daily Report

Profit on Month £96.57

Outstanding Bets £2517.17

Free bets £25 Betfred £20 Wlliam Hill

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=24

One completed bet yesterday and one loser, True Story's Derby bubble bursting in the Dante at York at 8/13, 3rd for -£25

An unfortunate bi-product of this was Australia of Aidan O'Brien going 4/6 for the Derby, 12-1 bar

In the NBA Last night Kevin Durant scored 39 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder advanced to the NBA last four. He did it all while constipated too

Now, OKC play the Spurs and in the other conference the Heat are big favourites to beat the Pacers

putting our ante-post book up...

Betfred   June-2014   Basketball   NBA Championship   Oklahoma City   13/2   40
williamhill   may-2014   basketball   NBA - Championship Winner 2014   san antonio spurs    7/2   50
Ladbrokes   may-2014   basketball   Western Conference winner    san antonio spurs    6/4   50
Ladbrokes   may-2014   basketball   NBA Championship Name the finalists     heat and spurs   100/30   50
Ladbrokes   may-2014   basketball   NBA Championship NBA Finals MVP    tony parker   11/1   10
Ladbrokes   may-2014   basketball   NBA Championship NBA Finals MVP    tim duncan   9/1   10
paddypower may-2014   basketball   NBA Championship NBA Finals MVP    Lebron james   21/10   50

We look to be in very good shape, with outright bets on both semi-finalists in one half (overall we want the Spurs) and three live MVP candidates

In the MLB the Orioles beat the Royals 2-1

but as we have heard the Yankees beat the Mets 1-0 to keep pace in the AL East

Looking at the AL East, where we have £50 on the Orioles at 10.5/1 averaged, its a quarter of the way through the season and its very close but we are in with a shout

           W   L   PCT   GB   L10
Baltimore   21   18   .538   -   6-4
NY Yankees 21   19   .525   0.5   5-5
Toronto   21   21   .500   1.5   6-4
Boston   20   20   .500   1.5   6-4
Tampa Bay   18   24   .429   4.5   3-7

In tennis Ferrer plays Djokovic today in the Quarters in Rome

In Golf's Spanish open Zanotti, recently retired from football, shot a 70, two off the pace after the first round. He's Paraguayan, which i did not know until my research last night. This thread gets to strange places, he is probably the first sporting paraguayan i have sweated in my 25 years on this planet

We nearly had a winner with Van Gaal now 1/20 to be appointed next Man U manager, but I gather the appointment is delayed until after the Netherlands friendly this weekend. Here's Van Gaal at the thought of more contract negotiations, or Tal at the thought of the appointment slipping into June

the domestic T20 Cricket season starts tonight with three of our four teams in action

Back to your Racing Post, Doobs!

Had a brilliant moment last night. Chatting away to my dad about the Dante. I commented I fancied The Great Gatsby and asked him what time it runs Saturday. He then informed me it had already won. Marv. What's the opposite of aftertiming?

All big races should be on Saturday afternoon. I'm busy in the week!

Is Australia the only threat to the O'Brian winners bet? Is it worth laying it?

Listen, we should wait and see what Adrian does in the Oaks on the Friday. We can always lay his best horse ever for the Derby if he doesn't win the fillies' race, but only to cover the stake I think.

Listen, it's worth remembering that he fluked the Derby and Le(d)ger last season, but it's hard to win dem Classics.
