Lewis Hamilton pulled clear of Nico Rosberg in Practice Three at the Canadian GP to underline his status as favourite for pole position later on Saturday.

As a three-time polesitter and race victor in Montreal, Hamilton is by far the most successful driver in the current field at the circuit and his P3 benchmark of 1:15.610 was unusually half a second faster than Rosberg could manage in the sister Mercedes.

Unusually, however, neither Mercedes driver managed to improve their soft-tyre times in the late runs on the theoretically quicker supersoft rubber, allowing the impressive Williams of Felipe Massa to split them on the timesheet.

Australia a best of 5/1 for the Arc. Some firms make the colt joint fav with Treve -

Wouldn't interest me. O'Brien gave him a great ride and was in the best possy all the way. The Arc is often run in softer conditions and I would want to see confirmation of that performance before getting involved. With Treve in opposition, the price is highly unlikely to collapse.

Felipe Massa currently 7/1 with William Hill for a podium. Not quite sure why they've gone with that price, Bet365 have the more realistic price of 4/1.

Williams are looking good in quali trim, and even better in race trim. May be worth a small bet.

They've quickly changed that to 13/2 - still probably worth a small bet though. Quite inflated at that price in my opinion.

gotta put one up in the 2.05 at newmarket cus its a monster price and i think its a good 15lbs better than its mark. Miss Marjurie 25/1 general 33/1 at ladbrokes. I did a lot of speed figure work towards the backend of last year. Basicailly i would find a benchmark race over a course and distance and going, then replay the races in tandom with the benchmark to see if they went off too fast or too slow a gallop. I would then take out the anomolys. I.E the one that stuck up with them on a frenetic gallop while the other front runners wilted. Or alternately when a horse is staying on into a place when the rest of the hold up horses never got into it. I had tremendous sucess, as claypole can confirm, last year by following ones i noted down, usually next time out. Ive stopped doing this now as im 100% commited to poker and this analysis is very time consuming. And basically becuase for me, there is more money in poker. Anyhow, some of my noted horses are yet to run since i noted them down and this is one of them.   Miss marjurie had impressed me greatly when winning at lingfield over 10f and even more so when it stuck on gamely over 10f again over todays track when they went an absolute dordle. Came out very highly on my ratings and she has her ground tomorrow. Yes this race is tough and shes not guaranteed to stay on pedigree but at 33/1 im willing to take a decent plunge and luke morris seems a great booking. Not saying lump on but an e/w bet might be a good idea, has run well fresh both times shes tried.

I hope Action man has had a nice touch today. That's some analysis and was certainly backed like a horse that connections thought was well in today.

I am not taking the price, but the Guineas form has been franked and they were quite spread out given the ground was good.  Would be surprised if he wasn't a good Derby winner.

Bit harsh on Pat Smullen too, there are always hard look stories in the race.  Lots of runners, difficult course, horses rolling around.  Backed it too, but just one of those things.  Probably helps my mood that I had first and second though.

And he isn't Jamie Spencer at the end of the day.

What would be your view on Romsdal for the Leger at 5-1?

presumably favourite and shorter if Australia goes a different route?

I am guessing you'll get better given they are all 5/1.  Seems short enough this far out to me.  Did they say they were going for the Leger?  I switched off after the race.  Don't know if Western Hymn is interesting, might be softer then and didn't get a clear run.  I am not backing either yet.

All about opinions Doobs, the bloke never does me any favours, therefore he isn't a favourite, didn't say he was a bad jockey, did I?

Congrats on your 1-2. How many did you back?

I half heard a little of Gosden's interview. I think he said he would be dropping WH back to 10F and I didn't hear what he said re Romsdal but it certainly looked a good Leger trial. I wouldn't  want to be taking 5/1 at this stage tho.

Wouldn't want to take a price on anything. Didn't think Kingston Hill was stopping, and he is twice the price of Romsdal, but not sure if its in Varians plans.

Ryan Moore said to discount the G Chaucer flop as he got walloped when Smullen and Buick were fighting, and gave up quickly. He could still be a contender for Coolmore I suspect.

You know me, only the 4 this time.  Beat SP on them all so all good.  Was opposing Australia, but switched this morning when all the arbers were out.

Can't see Australia ever going for the Leger now Tighty.  They can't get the triple crown and will want to win the Arc with it.   Think 3/1 is a bit skinny for the chance of it running

Morning all. This time difference thing sucks.

Just caught up, well done on a successful Derby outcome.

Lovely result in the Germany - Armenia affair, thanks McGlashan.

Who gave us the Oaks winner? (Taghrooda). Well done, anyway, ditto for "Abseil".

Shame England spoiled the party v the AB.
