another awful lino stops dzeko scoring a lovely goal putting his flag up 5 seconds too late and getting the decision terribly wrong.

funny enough i posted about the offside rule on facebook this evening

i have been thinking of how to make football more intresting without the use of lethal weapons. i have come to the conclusion we need to get rid of the offside rule, this will make game better for the following reasons.
1) It will create spaces as the defences will have to stay back as forwards stay forward and therefore instead of all the outside players in a small area moving back and forward they will be spread all over the pitch allowing spaces for taking on players and running into space
2) how many times have the linos got the decision wrong ruling out great goals or great chances and giving goals that were clearly offside
3) more women would watch the game as they will be understand the rules and we men can watch the game in peace without the ladies in our lives wanting to switch channels or take us to the bedroom for a bit of a workout

why not just have instant replay like NBA/NFL/tennis/cricket/rugby league/union to sort it?  Makes no sense and would make the whispers about games being bent be redundant by corrupt officials.  It would have taken the ref 20 seconds max to decide that wasn't offside and award the goal.  No different in time to restarting the game with a free kick for being offside.  If Blatter really wants to protect the game from corruption i just don't get why it's not in place

cause linos flag goes up whistle goes and defence stops ball goes in complaint made found to be onside can you give the goal?
or do we just scrap the lino and then only rule an offside if there is a goal? then what you do if there is 3 or 4 phases of play since the offside? if the offside was ruled then goal wouldnt of stood as defence would of gotten the ball, if you rule it out how far do you go back?

just scrap the rule open the game up give us and average of a goal or 2 more a game will make it much more intresting get rid of the bore draws

Getting rid of offside rule means people sit on goal line and mooch. Terrible idea.

I mean it's hard to say what would happen now, but the reason offside was invented (and exists as a rule in many team sports) is to stop mooching.

The rule is a good one, it's enforcement could easily be improved.

its quite hard to enforce though as i already posted TV isnt going to work, infact even with tv some times even tv isnt 100% people still debating if a player was or wasnt offside days and weeks after a game
linos are human and they only have one pair of eyes how can they be looking accross the pitch to see who is and isnt ahead of who while looking 30 or 40 yards back to see the exact moment the ball is launched forward

Referees have been noticeably reluctant to get the cards out so far in the WC.
Average yellow cards per game is 2.73 and red 0.19 (vs 4.15/0.26 in 1st/2nd rnd group games 2002/10).

Result of this is that there is much more chance of bookings supremacy ending in a tie - 10 out of 26 matches tied so far, against 22 from 96 2002/10.
BetEveryDay seem to have adjusted as a result but not everyone has.

Suggest the following bets next couple of days :

Germany/Ghana Tied Booking Points £20@15/4 Lads
Nigeria/Bosnia    Tied Booking Points £20@18/5 Lads (4/1 available Sky for those that can get on)
Belgium/Russia   Tied Booking Points £20 @ 17/5 WH (7/2 Sky)
S Korea/Algeria  Tied Booking Points £20 @ 18/5 WH (4/1 Sky)
USA/Portugal     Tied Booking Points £20 @ 18/5 WH

Have left Argentina/Iran as a one-sided match should mean less chance of a tie.

Only done this market this week, so happy for someone to pick it apart.

Ran terribly in the Germany v Ghana game with the only booking after 92:40 with 3 added minutes... and it was a marginal call.
For balance, got lucky in the Nigeria v Bosnia match when a Bosnian player made a challenge in the last minute of normal time which could easily have been a card.

http://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/wimbledon/mens/mens-wimbledon/winner

The biggest tennis event of the year starts tomorrow and the 21/10 Novak at sportingbet (assume we can get on) looks worthy of a decent bet.  People are asking for 4 figure sums under 2/1 on bf and his general record at the event pretty much ensures a deep run.  Now being coached by the lawns legend Boris Becker he looks a very solid fav to me in what looks a relatively weak year with question marks over most of the other major runners.

Federer ew at 6/1 looks cracking ew value.  He is under on the machine in both the win and place markets with several hundred done at 23/10 to place and we would be getting 3/1 to place on the 1/2 1,2 terms.  Presumably because of his draw of avoiding the top 2 in the market (novak and Muz) until the final.

I have backed both personally and would recommened £60 win Novak 21/10 and £30 ew Federer at 6/1 (boyles have money back concession up to £100 if Muz wins the event) if not then bald/tote are the only others at 6/1.  If we can get on at Boyles then i will recommend the maximum amount to trigger the cash back as it's a great offer coupled with an over the bf win/place price.  Not sure if maximum £100 refund is on the win part of the bet or both win and place.

Boyles also offer money back up to £100 as well if Serena wins the women's event.  This is cash back and not free bet equivalent.

bosnia are out of the world cup, and i particularly feel for the wonderful Pjanic in their midfield. Odemwingie and Begovic combined to produce the first instance of a player from an english league club scoring against a goalkeeper from the same club in the world cup. I am here all day folks!

The strategy will be interesting today - everyone will (probably) try to two-stop and the Force India's will try a one-stopper. However all cars may be forced to do an extra stop (making it three or two stops) if the degradation is higher than expected - it's very marginal!

we can't use boyles

nothing against the ideas, obv djokovic looks a fair enough favourite...but....

i am sure we should find someone to win federer's quarter, at a price.....on his recent form in slams/stage of his career

the ladies is wide open, surely we can find some value in that field?
