I can see a case for Fort Bastion Tal. A very high or very low draw is probably better than a middle draw, the horse has run well here, it stays 1m and although it ran poorly with the 1st time blinkers and in it's last run I would say that the move to the amazing David O'Meara was a bit irrelevant last time as he only had it about ten days from Ruth Carr. Now it's been with him a little longer, it seems a biggish price but there is a doubt on the ground.
One of six or seven I could bet but definitely would rather be with than against.
Thanks, Mr C.

Loved Sir Marks quote on Pallasator
"Might have a chance if he makes it passed the second verse of the national anthem rather than the first at the Curragh"

I'm against the front three in the 1st. I think Leading Light is a massive doubt on the ground, Forgotten Rules is a massive win or come nowhere and Estimate is not as good as she was, can throw in a bad one, has temperament issues and must be a doubt on the ground.
Pallasator is one that gets wound up at the start, doesn't settle and really needs to improve, Marzocco is held and had been deserted by Buick, Flying Officer is Ok but has a lot to find.
I am going to bet Biographer, just waiting for a 28/1 1/4 firm who will lay a bet. Stable come back into form after a tough year, the horse loves the ground. I have backed Whiplash Willie, stable in form, loves the ground bit unlucky/poor ride (delete as applicable) last time and Big Orange progressive 3-year old, has really grown since the Queen's Vase here and should be Ok on the ground. That would be my main bet.
Planning to win money, happy to bet three.

Since this is Ask Bad Beat hour, any love for Madame Chiang? My money already down based on soft ground form - current 10/1 too skinny?

For those that can noble mission is 8/1 quarter first 3 in the champion with beteveryday. Will be risking ridicule by backing every horse but all the bets are sound. Just beating the bf price and getting 2/1 vs 6/4 the place. Can't be so bad ?
I understand you are betting all these for value, but strip that out and you will probably make just a few bob, after all is said and done.
Dont you want to watch and be really able to cheer one in?! Isn't that the fun of it? Making money is great, but sometimes I feel hollow when I have backed so many I only make pennies.
Long term great, but short term, meh.
Well I am going to be happy if Cirrus wins, as he has been a great horse, will be really happy if Pether's Moon wins as he had been criticised a fair bit. Will still enjoy the races I haven't had a bet on. Many races I back nothing at all, but it is good to make a bit of money on the side. Life is just one big long run.
Understood.
I get the impression this strategy doesn't give you that, furlong out, see your horse going well, he is your sole hope, you get up slowly out of your seat, a few finger clicks, the is blood racing, a stifled "go on", then you start cheering, then shouting "go on, go on hughesy", then some real OiOiOiOi, even when on your own moments?!
More a small smile of gentle satisfaction type thing.

Ooh, great run by Biographer. Got a big bump 2 out or would have gone very close.
Thanks Neil.

I'm on Simon. My main bet in the race is Cubanita but I think, even at the current 10/1 both are very fair each-way. I am against Silk Sari on this ground, think Tasaday will struggle to stay, We'll go Walking obviously not good enough and it's possible that Seal of Approval comes back to form on the ground but also quite likely she has regressed. Albasharah comes out pretty quickly and must be a doubt about her staying. Think each-way is pretty fair.
