Should Watford be odds against at home to Ipswich tomorrow?
Last 13 games
Watford W10 D1 L2
Ipswich W5
L6
Ipswich lost last 3 away. Last 9 meetings at vicarage road Watford won 8, Ipswich won 1.
Does this match really end up in anything other than a home win more than half of the time? What odds did Boro go off at home to Ipswich recently?
I like Watford tomorrow, no idea of the odds though, will be in a few small bets
. However, do people take notice of previous records in that match? Always a stat that seems quite irrelevant.
Hopefully Watford win this and that Deeney bloke gets a hat trick.
Briefly interrupting all these TV tarts & their TV Eggheads chit chat (I loathe TV whores), you've done well to escape the Value Police with that line Mr Aaron Mc Aaron.
"I think Watford will win this weekend so I'll back them
" was what I did for the best part of 30 years.
The first harsh lesson Fred gave me, especially the Lords Camel, Dubai & redarmi, was
what will the price be?
What they did, to my initial utter amazement, was bet the OTHER way if the price was just so, because they somehow gauged the value.
So we had an example early doors of being reasonably sure Arsenal would win. Probably.
Then, Arsenal got backed in, so they then backed the other team, who by now were a bigger price, & so deemed to be value.
A weird concept that toook me ages to get my head round.
Not dissing you by the way. My system for 30 years was to back the longest winning streak at home v the longest losing streak away. (As say, in Watford). So that would also be my banker in all my accas. It never ONCE crossed my mind to consider the price. How did that go? Let's just say I'm still working.
It's certainly hard to find amazing value in the football these days and even harder for any bet to win. The PL is priced is very accurately and NPC is potentially the same and even though people think you have a decent bet, it's the Championship! I have no idea about the price really, but sometimes you just need a few fun sweats for the weekend, Watford will be a team in a one or two multiples! I suppose we all need our PLO spin on the football
Well that's great Aaron, but it's not really what this thread's about is it ?
We're trying to find value, an angle. If we don't think there's any value, we don't have to bet.
But good luck with your spin up.

the 3 seed in our quarter got beat yesterday which could be good for us down the road.

Some stories on Barry Martin would be appreciated...and (although it would never come in) why didn't he just go 666-1 on England winning the WC, rather than 1966-1; better brand awareness for his sh!tty bookies, surely?

Haven't seen him for a long while, as I don't play the chess tournament circuit anymore, but he was always quite a character. There's weird, then there's chess players, then there's weird chess players and then there's C
J. He is/was a decent player; solid county level player, similar to me.
He's back on Eggheads now, I believe. Replaced Daphne when she retired.
Think he's done quite a bit of charity work tbf. I assume he does the quiz circuits, too.

I don't know. He'd changed his name to de Mooi when I first met him, which would be the best part of 20 years ago. I didn't know he was born with a different name until recently. Only played him once or twice, although we've been in the same tournament a few times.
He became the president of the English Chess Federation for a while. That's something of a poisoned chalice, that job.
Should just add I don't know the chap personally at all.

I might start another thread for this, as it will clog up Fred a bit, & I'll get shouted at.
Gutshot Club, of which Barry was one of two founders, (Derek Kelly was the other) is probably worth a whole book to be honest, quite a story.
So if time permits, I'll start a thread in The Rail later, unless someone does so in the interim.
